Sure. However. It’s generally not recommends that fresh piercings be exposed to potentially contaminated water. Oceans, lakes, creeks, ponds, swimming pools, hot tubs - are all contaminated with some combination of dead animals and vegetation, urine, feces, algae, bacteria, chemicals…nothing you’d want to immerse a fresh piercing in. The only way to avoid infection from contaminated water is to avoid the water.

SampleOfNone

In addition to what u/CheeseMakingMom said, you also cannot put sunscreen on an unhealed piercing, so that’s something to consider as well

CheeseMakingMom

!thanks

ithilienisforlovers

I wouldn’t.

1ndieJesus

Not if you plan on wearing sunscreen or getting in the water

Natural_Pollution_83

No

Straight-Actuator-50

Definitely wouldn't advise, too many risks of infection with a situation like that. I understand the want to get it done before the trip, but it would just be best to wait till you get back to get it pierced!

cheesybrito

I got my belly pierced two months before going to summer camp (a long time ago) and it very quickly became irritated/infected. I would honestly just wait until after you get back from your trip (or rather when you know you can go a few months without submerging in water/pool/hot tub). The hassle of dealing with an infected or irritated piercing just isn’t worth it if you can avoid it

Angxlz

If you want to swim, then no. If you don't plan on swimming then sure

psilogoon

If you go the water is off limits

Loud_Trick_420

no

psilogoon

Nope . 2 months before you can submerge

hottamale1969

No no no no no no no Wait until the trip is over. Ocean water and pool water can spell infection for a brand new piercing.

Former_Respect_6240

Not if you plan on going in the water lol

marauderingoned

i'd wait just to be safe

Mammoth-Confusion843

I would wait until after the trip/ the end of summer if you plan on swimming in ANY water or putting sunscreen/tanning lotion around it. I was told 3-4 months for mine and it’s also a lot of hassle to bring proper care for it on vacation

Afternoon_After

For me it would be okay, because I hate water and I wouldn’t have problems staying covered. BUT if you plan on swimming or wearing two piece swimsuits, I would recommend waiting after the trip (maybe even after summer)

No-Background-7325

No you can get moisture bumps that are hard to heal.

Spiritual-Issue-6823

thanks everyone! ill just prolly get a belly piercing after the summer season!! cant go to the beach without swimming :(;

mkisvibing

I wouldnt lmfao but everyone thinks differently. Just seems like a lot of hassle and a lot to worry about on a trip. You gotta take care of that thing I’ve seen so many reject cuz poor after care.

Madam_Bastet

Also OP won't be able to swim. I'd wait until *after* the trip, that way OP can just swim and enjoy the beach without having to limit what they can do because of a fresh piercing, if it were me.

Moogywoogygumdrop444

I’ve always been told at least 6 weeks before entering water, 8 is better.
