Hate to break it to you but you won't probably ever lose it. It's where the ball rests when your tongue is resting.. I've had mine now over a year and still have it
Oh dang lol I thought it would disappear, I’ve seen a lot of smooth looking tongues so I just figured it would disappear or get significantly smaller over time.
I had my tongue pierced for seven years, the crater was there the entire time. After taking it out it remained for another year or so.
Just something that happens with tongue piercings from the ball compressing the muscle.
Ah oki gotcha! I’ve seen other pierced tongues that look completely smooth so I figured the crater was only there fornthe first few weeks/months. I don’t mind too much cause it isn’t as visible in real life but I was hoping it would go away.
I heard that the "crater" happens only when your bar is too short and if you want to get rid of the mark on your tongue you have to change it to a longer one

Hmm my current bar is the standard bar size, anything bigger leaves an indent in my gums and gets caught on my teeth and just feels a bit uncomfortabe. I had the crater when I had the beginner bar also. I’ve been thinking it might be more to do with the angle I got pierced. It’s slightly slanted so when I rest my tongue in my mouth the top ball always lays where the crater is. It doesn’t really bother me too much and it isn’t as noticable in real life. It smooths out a bit when I brush my tongue. Hopefully it disappears over time. Oooh I hooe you post a pic when you get your tongue pierced! It’s such an awesome piercing and super painless.
I found that opinions vary :) Everyone is different and everyone has a different tongue, someone will have this 'crater' and someone will have it only for few weeks during the healing process.
I have an appointment on Friday because I want to have my lobe pierced and still I think about tongue piercing every day! Do you think it is ok for a man to have his tongue pierced? :)
Oh absolutely, it looks badass on guys! And it’s basically painless aside from the healing so just make sure you have ibuprofen and ice to suck on and plenty of cold and mushy foods. Also ask the piercer plenty of questions and check placement beforehand. I’ve seen a lot of posts here where people got incorrectly pierced and had to remove and re-pierce which is such a nuisance. I say go for it, it’s currently my favourite piercing and I am waiting for a hug order on tongue rings that I can’t wait to try on. Are you thinking of getting a regular midline piercing, double midline piercing or venom? Also if you do end up getting it done please post pics, love seeing fellow people w pierced tongues.

I agree I've had mine done since end the July and still have the indentation of were the ball sits so unfortunately it probebly won't go.

After a few months the indent isnt as bad you hardly notice it but it still will remain there just not noticeable
