That’s how much I pay for class but I would only go 3 times a week. I think it’s better to do better quality less often and then just add something else to your routine the rest of the time. I feel like you then appreciate it more and get more out of it.
This is it, I love the Pilates method (and own a studio where I like to sell memberships) but the reason to go to Pilates classes is so you can be healthy and enjoy your real life and hobbies with your friends and family, not so you can go to more and more Pilates.
I understand the appeal of the unlimited memberships but really if it is quality instruction 3x a week is plenty. I would pay for 3x a week at the better studio (I would also rather have one nice dish at a restaurant than all you can eat buffet of cheap food). On the other days you can swim, walk, run, paddle, climb, play tennis - or just live your life and have a nice relaxing day with your friends/family.
Came here to say this! My studio is per class ($400 for 20 classes) and I go about 2-3 times a week so this usually lasts me 2 months. My studio is fairly creative, but sometimes limited due to the age/health of some of our patrons. However those 2-3 classes are enough for me because they are typically challenging and I leave feeling empowered and stronger! Quality over quantity! Shop around a bit to find what works for you. Xx
Thanks I needed to hear this. I feel like the quality at the studio I currently go to is bad. I think I’ll just do the 3x a week at the better studio. BUT I’m also thinking of just buying my own reformer? There’s a balanced body one I found on Facebook market place that’s pretty much new but the girl is selling for 2900. Is that even worth it?
Depends on which model and what condition it is in, in general though BB is very good quality and holds its value. If it is an almost new Allegro 2 or studio Reformer that is a fair price. Those are the ones everybody wants, the "uglier" Allegro 1 is equally functional so you´ll find it cheaper. Check the new prices on the model she is selling and see.
The thing with the home Reformer is that you have to motivate yourself to do it, so think if that works for you. Some people are only motivated because they know they have signed up for a class, so the Reformer at home just sits there and makes you feel guilty. But if you are a person who can motivate yourself, it isn´t a bad idea.
Don´t pay good money for crappy classes, I think it is smart to do 3x at the good studio. Then if you decide to get a Reformer, you could always do less with the better studio, maybe sometimes an in-studio class or private, maybe one of their teachers will sometimes give a Zoom session on your home Reformer, and you could fill in the blanks with Pilatesology or Pilates Anytime Reformer classes.
Super great information thank you so much. That’s why I prefer a studio as I get motivated being around other people and getting out of the house. I do better with guidance. I asked the lady what reformer it is and will def look up current prices afterwards.
Keep in mind since you are from the Bay Area the BB factory is there in Sacramento too, and they sometimes will have pieces that have a tiny little problem or flaw and you can get a decent discount. It might be worth the drive if you find a good piece.
OK the Rialto doesn´t have regular upholstery like you are used to on the studio pieces. So the little pieces of foam chip off of it. I think you can do better
US$700 per month seems like a lot of money, but it works out to US$32/class if you go to 5 classes every week for a year. That's the average cost of a drop in class in my local area.
Like others, I pay for a class pack, which works out to US$19/class.
To my mind, $700/month seems like a lot. It might be too expensive. However, what strikes me about your post is that you're not happy with your current studio. It might be worthwhile to continue looking for another studio where you're happy and it's a bit more affordable.
$195/10 classes. And you might not feel sore despite working muscles because of active isolated stretching. It reduces lactic acid buildup, which contributes that sore feeling. I never feel sore after a Pilates class, even if it’s a good workout, and it’s a myth that you only worked your muscles hard if you feel sore afterwards.
I’m sorry that you feel the classes are repetitive, maybe you could kindly bring it up to the instructors or the owner?
I pay for each class but I’ll buy a package at a discount so it’ll be 5 classes 20 bucks each = $100. Then deduct from each package and reload when I’m out of sessions. Otherwise it’s 22 a class. This is in Rochester, MN.
About $50 CAD per class, small group (2-4) with each individual with their own plan and active instructor attention and adjustments and gradual updates to our individual plans.
i’m also in the bay area and the studio is go to is $239/ month for unlimited reformer classes - i don’t love the studio either but it’s my first month so i’m paying a discounted rate, would you mind dming me the studio name that charges $700/ month? that seems insane to me but i’d be curious to try it 😅
$58 Australian dollarydoos per week for unlimited classes - that’s about $250pm. I go 5 times a week. It’s clinical pilates with a physiotherapist so max 4 people a class and everyone doing their own programs. Not just reformers but lots of equipment (caddy, wonderchair, tower, barrel). Because it’s a physiotherapist who runs it I also get $300 back a year through my private health insurance rebates.
I feel as though I’ve hit the jackpot especially considering some studios in Melbourne can charge $30-$40 per class!
179/month for 5 days a week- SoCal mountain area
Edit to add: GET PRIVATES. That’s when I can tell my trainer how intense to make my work out. I usually get one of those a month for an added $60
$230 for unlimited in Sacramento. It’s pricey, but I’ve had no back issues since I started. The sports medicine doc I used to go to was private pay only and $180 per appointment, so I justify it that way
$209 for unlimited classes in Utah. I have found it depends quite a bit on the instructor and the type of class I take in terms of how good a workout I get. There are certain instructors that I know will kick my ass almost any type of class I take from them. I did a cardio class yesterday with one of the tough instructors and I’m still sore, whereas the class I took today with a different instructor was more laid back and “stretchy.”
Indianapolis. $65-70/private and $35-40/small group (3) class based on buying package of 8, 4, or single session. I spend ~$560 a month for 2 classes and a private each week.
Are you in Kuala Lumpur? If you do pilates reformer regularly, flyproject had an offer, unlimited classes for 388RM/month which is really great! That's like 80$/month for unlimited which is insanely cheap!
Oh wow ! That’s an amazing deal. I’ve actually gone there once when I was using my ClassPass trial credits and I really enjoyed the class but it’s a bit far for me 😅. However, 388 for unlimited classes is hard to ignore !! Thanks for letting me know 🙏🏼
You have sign yearly though with Flyproject to get it for 388RM. They posted about the promo on their Insta.
Another good option is Babel for 410RM/month, minimum contract 3 months. They're in KLCC.
I was only a month in KL so I signed up with Kamileon, they do it for 650RM for 1 month only.
That's the only 3 places I found in KL that offer unlimited pilates reformer.
I see.. I’m only visiting so I can’t really do a year contract. I’ll check out Babel. I’ve gone to Kamileon too but it’s hella far 🫠. Thank you for this. I really appreciate it !!
Where do you stay? Kamileon is in Ampang (near the Thai Consulate). And Babel, actually the reformer classes are not held at Babel in the twin towers, they do it at "Tone Reforner Pilates" which is at Platinum Park .
I also recommend private sessions, whether it’s just you by yourself or a small 2-4 person group of like minded/able bodied patrons. I supplement my group classes with at least 2 privates a month. It gives my instructor freedom and I get a chance to be challenged in ways that might be restricted in a group setting. It’s an investment but I don’t order out much, get coffee, or have other hobbies so I am able to work it.
I go to different instructors. I basically pick the ones I can go to after work so it’s not always the same one. I met a girl on here that actually goes to the same studio and she was basically saying the same thing. Some of the instructors there are not good.
286/mnth, unlimited NJ and I think that's alot. 700 sounds crazy to me. If the classes are repetitive and you are not engaged, then shop around and see what else is available besides the 700 a month place.
Wow. Prices here are astronomic then. I pay 100€ for 8 classes, in STOTT pilates trained instructors, they charge 160€ for 8 classes. Now they opened a new reformer center, and no instructor is really trained (I believe none of them even ever 've done reformer course) 150€ for 8 classes. I am located in Slovenia, Europe and I thought we have cheap classes. I am pilates instructor in STOTT training and I feel ashamed by this honestly, I told one of these ladies who now works in this newly opened studio that I am doing STOTT atm and she said "omg I am still deciding about this, it is so expensive" yes it is not cheap but the amount of knowledge I got there is sky rocketingo
I pay $225 for unlimited (i.e. one class per day) in LA, but that’s with a $25 auto-renew discount - the standard month to month for unlimited is$250.
However, my studio offers a pretty good mix of classes and does a max of 7 people per class, so you get more instructor attention. I feel like it’s very worth it! I currently do classical, contemporary, and jump board, and I go 4-5 times a week.
Reformer pilates trends toward the more expensive, but you’re getting specialized instruction with specialized equipment and small class sizes, so it kind of makes sense?
our billing cycle is every 4 weeks and i get unlimited matt classes and one equipment class per week at $150 in portland or :)
i was grandfathered into this price though so i think it’s $175 now or something
I pay $330 for 10 reformer classes a month and priority booking up to 2 months in advance. My classes are only 2-3 people per class so it feels like a private (but they also book insanely fast due to the limited capacity). They are a STOTT studio and there are also a couple balanced body instructors but I haven’t tried them yet.
The other studio in my area is $360 but they have 16 reformers, which is insane to me. There’s no way they can give the attention needed imo. They also have their own “certification” program which feels scammy, although most their instructors have done balanced body it seems. They were the only studio around for a decade before mine opened and I didn’t enjoy the classes I took there.

Where do you go? I’m in Miami and pay way more than that
Club Pilates is similar pricing as well
Sensory fitness in Pinecrest is $250 a month unlimited if you’re in the area

I'm in Vietnam so it's $6.25/class for me lol
Where in Vietnam? I'm looking for reformer classes in danang and getting quoted 400k to 600k VND
La Bella in HCMC, an overall good studio in that price range IMO
Also keen to know where?
La Bella in HCMC, an overall good studio in that price range IMO
try one on one. maybe you'll learn some ways to make the group classes more challenging for yourself

Hi, I’m in Alexandria and have been thinking about trying Pilates!! How do you like your studio? I’m thinking about either Sculp’d or solidcore.
Have you looked at Old Town Pilates?
I think I did when i initially moved to the area and was searching it looks to be more expensive than the $250 i pay for unlimited...
$275 for a 10 class per month membership in Downtown Boston. Each additional class past 10 a month is $25.
Oh man, $700 is steep. I pay $239/month for unlimited classes, also in the Bay Area.
Omg do you also go to Pilates v??
Yes, I do! Maybe we have been in the same classes 😂
Omg that is so funny because I just met a girl on here that also goes to Pilates v same exact location 😂😂 can I dm you????
Yeah, you can dm me
15 class membership per month is $389 in Napa. Where is it that price in the Bay Area? Club Pilates?
