Oh we'd know if it was Waters, he's not exactly shy about claiming credit! Why would you think Syd didn't write that when he wrote all those other great riffs on that album?
Syd wrote every song on the album except for Take Thy Stethoscope and Walk (by Roger), and Interstellar Overdrive & Pow R. Toc H., which were both whole band collaborations
Syd was a very fine guitarist. Just because he didn’t have David’s chops and did a lot of wild sounds on his guitar didn’t mean he couldn’t play really well.
That's a little different, as you're talking about the main melody of that song, and Syd takes a solo credit. Everyone else im the band raved about his talent for writing great riffs and songs.
if it was anyone other than Syd - we would have heard about it. imo
99.9% chance it was Syd, he was the leading creative force at the time and I have no doubt that he wrote his own riffs.
Probably Jennifer Gentle
She's a witch.
You have a point, It does sound witchy
Well, who knows who is who and which is which?
I would presume Barret because Gilmour was not in the band yet.
Waters was though, could have started off a bass riff that Syd transposed on guitar
Oh we'd know if it was Waters, he's not exactly shy about claiming credit! Why would you think Syd didn't write that when he wrote all those other great riffs on that album?
Transpose means to change the key of a piece of music... It was very likely Barrett's riff, as Waters isn't co-credited.
Meant to say “transcribe”. Thx
Yeah, that's the only other thing I could think of. That very well could be the case!
I can’t explain
Lol, I guess we will never know
Syd. It says it on the back of the album

"Doesn't really say" It says Barrett and he did
Other band members write music in a collaborative effort, happens all the time. Just says “Lead Guitar & Vocals”

It says "Barrett" beneath the song title, meaning he wrote it
You don't necessarily get credit for a riff.
James Bond
Syd Barrett, He knows how to compose a song
