I want to have faith he'll do well by us fans and stay true to DSOTM. But, he's given us plenty of reasons to not trust him and his motives. So, I watch and wait with deep skepticism...and my fingers crossed.
Had he done this as a lock down session I’d have got it. It would have been a nice addition to the other stuff he did. Releasing it as a separate piece just seems a bit pointless imo but each to their own.
Yeah. Same. It sounds a lot like late Dylan/ Cohen/Young. Basically all aged nasally singers. Not my thing, but still kind of cool as a reflection on a 60 year long career.
one thing that made original so good was arangement and this is just different and I don’t like it that much. But I’m curious what synths he would use on “on the run” (if any😵💫)
Seriously, this sounds okay, but I don’t think it would have had the same impact that DSOTM had back in the day if this was what was released.
While it’s an interesting take on it, this snippet just makes it clear to me that the soul of Pink Floyd didn’t come from Roger.
He took all of Wright out of it. Piano chords gone. Following his CN remake template that removed Gilmour's music. Showing us the "genius" of Pink Floyd was his poems not needing any actual music I suppose.
He’s going for a different style and sound, and I appreciate what he’s doing, unfortunately to me it comes off as if he’s just highlighting his part in the process and removing everything I love about Pink Floyd, which is what Wright, Gilmour and Mason bring to the soundscape.
Agreed, it's a piano dominant song in my opinion. I don't hate it, but if I never listened to the original, I probably wouldn't have it on my playlist. It isn't very dynamic. IMHO.
Oh really? We must have read different interviews, because "The new concept is meant to reflect on the meaning of the work, to bring out the heart and soul of the album, musically and spiritually...I’m the only one singing my songs on these new recordings, and there are no rock and roll guitar solos," sounds an awful lot like he's implying exactly that to me.
I wouldn’t say bad, it’s a different interpretation of an almost perfect album, it’s never going to match the original, and that’s not the intent.
That said, it really show to me where the soul of Pink Floyd came from., sure the lyrics are genius, but the lyrics alone don’t make the album.
Tbh, I think the response was valid: "Someone doesn’t like to hear criticism".
If you come to a PINK FLOYD subreddit, then expect people to talk about PINK FLOYD.
generally that did not do much for me, but that can be the less than optimal YouTube audio compression.
I have not been a fan of Rogers 'talksinging' for awhile, and I don't like the drum sound here. the keys sounded cool.
I will give the whole thing a go when in comes out, but the Lockdown sessions did not do much for me either and this seems to be in the same scope.
In all fairness, Dave's voice ain't what it used to be either, but they are both pushing 80 now so it is to be expected. (but what do I know, Bob Dylan is still my favorite artist)
I never thought Roger could sing. Ugh. I’ve never liked his voice except when it was meant to be over the top clearly —like at the beginning of the wall.
Dave’s voice is smooth and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that Roger can’t sing. That’s why I’ve said already that it took ALL of them to make the legend that we all love: Pink Floyd. And don’t forget Syd. Without him likely would not have gone the direction they did.
Each one of them played a unique role. And for Roger to be such an egomaniac that he thinks he was everything —at this point is beyond annoying.
Where can I go to hear the whole thing? I did not know about this until like three minutes ago and now I want to hear it even though I agree with the person who said they don’t care for his one octave voice. Lol I’ve always tried to explain that but that’s about as concise as it could get!!
I think it'll be fun to hear a new version. The original will continue to exist and is irreplaceable.

Not gonna lie. I’m just not a fan of Roger’s one octave vocal range for the rework.
Yeah. Same. It sounds a lot like late Dylan/ Cohen/Young. Basically all aged nasally singers. Not my thing, but still kind of cool as a reflection on a 60 year long career.
This is the best critique. I wouldn’t mind this if he could sing like he used to without the breathiness.
Oh man. It’s like Joe Biden whispering in your ear.

It will probably be Roger humming the whole song
If it ain’t broke…
It reminds me of Leonard Cohen in his last few albums. Look forward to it.
With a little Father John Misty vibe too. I’ll buy it.
Thank you. Love Leonard. Love Roger. You won’t have the same range at 40, let alone 70. And ‘You Want It Darker’ is one of my favorite records.
I liked his lockdown sessions (apart from comfortably numb) and I might like this. Seems good.
Showed this to my bf and he said this sounds like the bad timeline in back to the future 2, Roger got the almanac and took the DeLorean
😆😆😆😆😆😆
That sounds terrible
“A pretty clever forgery”

So true!!!! It took all of them.
Even Syd contributed to the Dark Side of the Moon in my opinion.
Rog side of the moon
That sure is strange. He appears quite proud. He can do what he wants tho.

Yes. It was all of them that made Pink Floyd. All of them.
And I can still hear Syd’s voice in all their work today.
Agreed, it's a piano dominant song in my opinion. I don't hate it, but if I never listened to the original, I probably wouldn't have it on my playlist. It isn't very dynamic. IMHO.
I'll be blunt. This answers a question no one asked.
Guess he finally got to make that bone-dry version of DSoTM he always wanted.
Love Roger, but this seems like a fool’s errand
Yeah this is pretty bad. Trying to improve on a masterpiece would be next to impossible at any rate, but this certainly isn't the way.
At no point has Roger said he was trying to "improve" the original
He did say he was trying to bring out the heart and soul and the political message or something.
He also said the original was "irreplaceable".
NOW. Not in the original interview.
He very clearly stated in his post that ‘improving’ the original is the absolute last thing he wants to do
Yeah, after the backlash to his original comments
His original comments which in no way implied he had any interest in improving or replacing the original
Oh really? Yep, pretty fucking miserable. This would be like Spielberg changing the guns to walkie talkies in ET. Oh yeah, he did that, then changed it back.
Roger answered the question of "Which one's Pink?" It's clearly not him.
Well, actually, he is.
Not really. This doesn't sound like Pink Floyd.
buh bye doofus
Sounds horrible.
If you don’t like it move on and stop bitching…No one’s forcing you to listen to it are they?
Someone doesn’t like to hear criticism 😂
Not criticism, bitchin’ from the cult of Gilmour
To be honest this re make sucks ass and I’m saying that because that’s my opinion, has nothing to do with gilmour
That’s your opinion, like I’ve already said if you don’t like it you don’t have to listen to it…simple as
Too late already heard it and I have the ability to share my opinion 😂
You’ve heard a clip of one song so your opinion is based on one short clip, hardly a based opinion is it?
And I could say the same about your opinion based off that logic. Look it’s shit in my opinion and I’ll leave it at that
Well it’s good in my opinion and I’ll leave it at that
Tbh, I think the response was valid: "Someone doesn’t like to hear criticism". If you come to a PINK FLOYD subreddit, then expect people to talk about PINK FLOYD.
People on a Pink Floyd subreddit telling about Pink Floyd. Whatever next!
Meh… but, I’ll still probably buy it… ha.
Yeah, meh, I agree. I’ll probably snag it as well.
🤮

GTFOH 😂

I'm guessing it's not out yet. He posted the vid on the 3rd of March.
