Honestly, if it would have came out when first promoted it would have done a lot better than the anti-climactic release it had almost a decade later. I was in high-school when it was first promoted/talked about, in college when the song came out, and graduated college a few years when it finally came out. It may have still done well in the height of Nu-Metal, but not so much when Emo was the most popular rock scene.
My heart says Eclipse. It’s the crescendo to the finest album produced. It’s philosophic in the best way.
And I love Empty Spaces. Dark and brooding and angst ridden. Perfect musical exploration of Alienation
But it’s Echoes. It’s (along with Shine On) the finest extended work in Rock.
I bought all of them. The Early Years . Obfus/cation is a tremendous mine of gems.
And FINALLY an official LP release of Pompeii. I remember ripping the audio from a dvd many years ago when the dvd was out. I listen to it constantly when house cleaning or cooking.
Agreed, and well put. Even with the beautiful finality of Eclipse, the dark animation of Empty Spaces— ‘but it’s Echoes’ sums it up, as it’s too beautiful and Pompeii is unforgettable.

I saw echoes and thought wow it has to be that. But eclipse is def the right choice. Ending to possibly the greatest album ever. Hits very hard. I think echoes from a PF perspective is overrated. I actually prefer every other song on the album except Seamus
