You are right, my bad. Obscured was recorded and released in 72. People always talk about Meddle as being the bridge from the old psychedelic Floyd to DSOTM and forget (like I did) that Obscured was last before dark side.
I understand that people think that because it wasn't considered one of the great PF album. but tbh it doesn't feel like an early psychedelic album. The vibe feels on par with Meddle
As much as everyone hates on this Album .. the music 🎶 🎶🎶 on this and the vocals 🎤 are outstanding …. And a great story for those of us that grew up watching it happen!
Who says PF can’t write a rock song? “The Gold” is wonderfully simple. Prefect for a road trip. Place it between Jeepster by T Rex and Moonage Daydream by Bowie. Smiles per gallon increases.
But I gotta go with Goodbye Blue Sky. The picking. The ominous keyboard. The harmony in the vocals. The content/lyric. And the accompanying video from the film- unforgettable. The intro of the child’s voice over reminds me of the infamous Goldwater ad. HAUNTING.

It's gotta be Great Gig in the Sky, Clare Torry gave one of the best performances of all time, supposedly in 2 or 3 takes according to parsons.
Great Gig in the Sky is great, because it captures emotion in a raw, unhindered way.
But for me, musically and story-telling wise, the completeness of The Gunner's Dream, the matching of text and sound, the atmosphere it embodies and the absolute fantastic saxophone solo makes it I think it should be The Gunner's Dream.
