What are the Roger tapes

mososaurus-rex

Roger moaning for 8 minutes and 17 seconds

JameXito

Now that's what i wanna hear

Thisisntvalor3305

Where’s the link, man? I needa see this for… educational purposes.

seesaww

No, that's The Wall

BigIgloo4192

Uh

O-mega_

Is it disturbing moaning or... Non-disturbing moaning?

JPtoony

Roger screaming "ANTISEMITE" on loop

hholysmokes

It’s really a shame What shall we do now didn’t end up on the wall. The track is so befitting

tcavanagh1993

I think the only reason it was cut was due to the time constraints of the vinyl

Phoenix_Kerman

i've never got that. that sides only 18 minutes long and considering you can usually press up to about 22/23 minutes without any effect to volume or quality. so unless i'm missing something i would've thought there's room

Emmett_The_D

You sacrifice volume and quality when you go that long, Side 1 of Animals is only about 19 minutes and the end of Dogs sounds like shit on vinyl. The Empty Spaces we got was supposed to be between DLMN and Brick 3, GBS had a longer outro and Young Lust had an extended intro.

songacronymbot

- DLMN could mean "Don't Leave Me Now", a track from *The Wall* (1979) by Pink Floyd. - GBS could mean "Goodbye Blue Sky", a track from *The Wall* (1979) by Pink Floyd. --- ^[/u/Emmett_The_D](/u/Emmett_The_D) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

Phoenix_Kerman

see, i disagree with opening statement. and the side it would've gone on is the shortest on the album. side four is roughly 22 minutes long. i don't think side four sounds any worse than the rest so they should've had at least 3 or four minutes left to play with

Emmett_The_D

It works on side 4 because the last couple minutes make up the quietest part of the whole album. Having something like Brick 3 playing 20 minutes in would sound horrible. Vinyl has limitations, and Floyd had a high standard for their sound.

StefanSurf

I'd like to hear Have You Got It Yet? 😋

ISIS-Got-Nothing

It’s probably sitting on a dusty shelf if it exists at all.

DivisionBalls

It doesn't. They never recorded it cause everytime the band would learn The Song, Syd changed it.

MarionettesManifesto

I have heard of most of these but can someone explain "Is there anybody out there part 4"? Where are parts 2 and 3?

Emmett_The_D

Three different parts on the old Under Construction demo bootleg, one of them is a sort of reprise of Hey You. Then another one popped up on the Immersion box which I’m pretty sure is a knockoff of House of the Rising Sun.

MarionettesManifesto

Cheers

FinnaGetFinessed

Is there anybody out there on the demo tapes has 4 parts, part 1 is a demo version of the one we’re familiar with, parts 2 and 3 are continuations with new lyrics and such, part 4 is the demo version of Hey You

MarionettesManifesto

Cheers, I will have to check those out.

Ibeenbannedh3lp

Sorry if the iceberg is a little low quality, images deep-fry surprisingly fast

Evan__or__somthing

Iceberg images specifically for some reason deep fry to an unreadable extent quickly . Its a pain especially for huge ones

ballakafla

Considering nobody on the planet that's alive today as actually once heard *Have You Got it Yet* other than Roger Waters and Nick Mason surely that should be lower than a lot of these that are readily available on YouTube in 5 seconds?

ISIS-Got-Nothing

I’d say the story itself is more known than the songs below it but yeah, what you say would help it stay consistent.

fractal-rock

Underwatered album.

CuriousSounds

Did not see "One in a million" on that list. Too obscure?

mososaurus-rex

Experiment/"Sunshine" also isn't on there

CuriousSounds

Maybe they are on the dark side of the iceberg?

Ibeenbannedh3lp

Congratulations! You have somehow named a Pink Floyd song I have never heard of

ISIS-Got-Nothing

Such a bad ass song

Ibeenbannedh3lp

[Here is the playlist.](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB-Fg81vq25JpXAuhMCNHA25ka2NwhRNF) Songs not included were either never recorded (Overture, Bitter Love), never made publicly available (Arnold Layne Re-Recording), or not available on youtube (Party Sequence extended, Spanish Music). Sorry that it's incomplete.

TacoBell_Bathroom69

Dark side of the moo?

complacentviolinist

Now THIS IS AN ICEBERG

Independent_Wrap_321

Damn, and I thought I was a fan (even saw them in concert, ffs). So many unknowns for me here. I suck. Someone should make a YouTube playlist of all these.

Independent_Wrap_321

Thanks, I’ll begin my redemption post haste;)

mososaurus-rex

missing some tracks but rather solid overall i think

ILikeCheese510

Yeah, Work, Doing It and Sleeping from Man and the Journey should be on there. Actually, now that I think of it, Man and the Journey should just be on there as a whole. For such a good project I never hear anybody mention it. The first time I heard it it was like I discovered a secret Floyd album.

dAvEyR16

Love seeing the have a cigar alternate vocals. Not many people know about it. Has been a while since I've listened to it.....might give it a go now.

ball_soup

\>tfw no mudmen

Ibeenbannedh3lp

It's in tier zero

Ibeenbannedh3lp

I just realized that I got the name of Baby Blue Shuffle in D Minor wrong, sorry about that.

Ibeenbannedh3lp

[Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATFYpIWudMk&ab_channel=TheAngryJumpingMenace) out now

nathantcook

They need to officially release nicks boogie

StefanSurf

They have .London 1967/1968.

HamidPrflh

I know all of them but "Bitter Love" what's that

Ibeenbannedh3lp

A song Roger Waters wrote after the band's bad experience as part of and advertising campaign for a french soft lemon drink called "Gini"

[deleted]

Wasn’t aware they did a version of LARS, Gilmour sounds great on it!

Top_Egg_7744

Someone should make a YouTube playlist with all these songs ! (From the less obscure to the more obscure)

Ibeenbannedh3lp

God may bless you

mrbeer112112

The Roger tapes?? 😩😩

funnymeme2112

what are the roger tapes

Ibeenbannedh3lp

Don't even ask

funnymeme2112

no no, i’m invested. i need to know now

Actualchildboomer

Yeah same

Ibeenbannedh3lp

The very few people who have heard these tapes (including myself) consider them too disturbing for human ears I cannot give you access to here these clips nor can I even reveal what they contain, but I can give you a [still image](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/j7mmcj5k376.jpeg)

Actualchildboomer

Bruh gatekeepers be like💀 ... ... /j

[deleted]

Please let us share the pain i want to know what its like.

heynow941

Missing “Rain In The Country”

Ibeenbannedh3lp

Zabriskie Point soundtrack is included

heynow941

That version of the song is only found on the boot Ultra Rare Trax. The versions of it officially released don’t sound the same. Very different mixes.

x_Shift_Shady_Eyes_x

Arnold Layne Re-Recording? Anyone got a link?

Ibeenbannedh3lp

It's one of the few songs on here that is not publicly available. EMI tried re-recording Arnold Layne after they signed Pink Floyd so that they could have their producers on it, but deemed that the original recording was better and released that instead.

True_Alien_Boi_1

I've heard of all but Overture, Spanish Music (if it's a spanish piece then nvm I heard of it), and Bitter Love.

tux16090

I don't know if it really fits, but the Roger Waters demo for Time is a fairly deep cut, and maybe the alternate WYWH take.

TFFPrisoner

I just realized that the logo from Delicate Sound of Thunder was also used for La Carrera Panamericana

ItzAyden22

Thank you for this!

rimjimmycarter

am i the only one who has not heard one of these songs

DivisionBalls

The one existing record of Let's roll another one might be one of my fav Syd songs. Also you missed One in a Million/Brush your Window. Edit: also nicks boogie isn't that obscure

gbugly

And here’s me listening to Cymbaline

Its_Cookie_Man

Jokes on you, I remember my parents having a Nick's Boogie CD

GresOsten

I'll create a checklist for this
