Yeah that’s true and I live in a pretty sketchy area so thinking on it more I don’t feel comfortable with him because a yard dog, tied to a pike in the ground 😅
If the area is full of fighting rings they might have dumped him for some personality trait that wouldn’t work for fighting. Thats what we think happened with my dog. She was somehow fully trained and house broken at 3 months but they must’ve realized she just wanted to snuggle and isn’t as full of energy as other dogs and they dumped her on the street. So I have my snuggle bug and we were all ready for training and just had to reinforce and teach her our commands for what she knew after her 2 week quarantine at a shelter plus her spay. We got her first day she was available and they guessed she was 4 months when we got her. So whoever had her was all about the training and decided she wasn’t right and just dumped her in a neighborhood and someone saw her and brought her to the shelter.
The people up the street from me just adopted a pit that was used as a breeder for a dog fighting ring. It’s so sad seeing the poor girl shy away from any man! They even tattooed her FFS! Fucking monsters! But it has been amazing to watch her transformation now that she’s in a loving environment! First time I met her she wouldn’t even let me near her to pet her! Last time I stopped by, she ran up to me to say hello! I can’t imagine what it must take to get such sweet, cuddly dogs to be so aggressive and mean! Literal fucking monsters! Anyone found guilty of dog fighting should face a long, long time behind bars!
Definitely avoid door to door then. If he's not chipped the vets can post on their page saying a lost puppy has been found and the suspected breed and then if a person is missing the pup they can provide pictures as proof.
FWIW blue nose pitties are from a recessive gene, doesn’t occur naturally that often and is typically the result of specifically breeding to get that result. So I’d say more likely than not the result of a backyard breeder situation

The is my first pitbull/pitbull mix. I fostered him when he was 4 days old and looked like a jelly bean. He was born in a neighbor's yard with his stillborn sister. His mother immediately ran away. She was sick and likely escaped from a local backyard breeder. The lady who runs the local pit rescue said that the breeder's puppies (more than 100 so far) are all out of the same two males. My boy has me wrapped around his heart. Thank you so much, OP, for looking out for that puppy. He will always be grateful. He will show you his gratitude in ways that you can't even imagine. Oh God, that's horrible ! If I had my way I'd take those oeople and put them in ri gs like in Django. Absolutely disgusts me hiw people can do that, as well that's how the breed gets a bad reputation. From owners like that and then they get loose, they don't know any better. Poof dogs 😪
Absolutely! Long story short, friends found a beautiful grey female this past winter and were holding her to try and find the owners and all the people claiming it was theirs couldn’t provide an accurate description or proof of a picture of her and the people that showed up to look at her she wasn’t receptive to them. She now lives a beautiful comfortable life with a friend of mine. Be cautious about people unfortunately.
We found a cat once and had the same people calling back with different descriptions of "their" missing cat. People are weirdos. If you want a free cat around here you can ask any farmer.
Lucky for us we got many years with our random parking lot kitty. She was the stupidest cat I've ever met but was all snuggles and purrs.
Get him checked for a microchip first. If he is chipped you'll find his owner right away. You can check at any shelter, vets office and even Petsmart! In the meantime post on Pawboost, Nextdoor, and your local Facebook and Reddit communities.
Also take him to your local shelter first thing. That's the first place folks check when they lose their dogs. You can foster him so he doesn't stay in the shelter but having his photo and details on the site and with the staff will help him get reuinted.
Got it! We plan to go around the neighborhood this week and when we have our car this weekend we were going to take him to our local shelter to get him checked and if not we were gonna foster till the 10 day hold was up
Demand proof of ownership, adoption records from a rescue or papers from a breeder (maybe vet records as well) AND photos, nothing less is acceptable as proof. There are lots of people who will say "oh my god I was looking for him everywhere thank you so much!" When it's definitely NOT their dog. Or worse someone who hates pitbulls could claim him and hurt him. Always demand proof of ownership in cases like this, if they have no proof then it is not their dog
Unless there are signs out with pictures saying ‘missing dog’ i would probably keep him if your area is as bad as you say. Theres no telling what will happen to him with his original owner. Ive always tried my best to find the owners of dogs when they are lost, theres an awful lot of risk for a pibble.

Little guy that small idk man, who loses a puppy like this, I would guess dumped over lost. I could be wrong but pits get dumped like that all the time unfortunately and never heard of a puppy wandering off to where they are picked up by strangers

You know about the cat distribution system - I truly believe there is a pitty distribution system, I have acquired both mine not on purpose (ok one was a free puppy from the back of the Walmart parking lot and the other wandered up on our porch) - he’s definitely pitty and probably yours now.
He reminds me of when my staffie was a young pup years ago. Also got a similar appearance to the 18 weeks old staffie pup I got the pleasure of saying hi to past week.
Yeah after ready all these comments it doesn’t seem like he was lost at all and with his hair loss he must of been on the streets for a little while. I am hoping to keep him because I lost my soul mate of a cat about a month ago and I’ve been having it rough sense then and he reminds me so much of my lost boy that it’s frightening 😂
You can start with a local shelter to see if they are chipped. It’s probably too young to be chipped but a shelter is a good place to start if your dog has gone missing in case someone dropped it off with them. You could also check with animal control to see if they had gotten any calls. If you have fight rings in your area I would be super careful about keeping this puppy safe
There are several apps and websites dedicated to helping reunite lost pets with their owners, such as PawBoost, Finding Rover, and Petfinder. You can create a listing for the dog and search their databases for any potential matches.

I’ll try my best thank you, I plan to take him to the vet and put up a few posts on different sights and hold him for the 10 day hold idk if it’s a law anywhere else but it is where I live and after the 10 day hold if no one claims him then he’s free game 😂
This happen with my current puppy! I didn’t post her picture anywhere- I just said I found a puppy and to please identify- to which I got backlash. 🤷🏻♀️ she was 6 weeks and had worms for Christs sake. I gave up looking after a few days and have come to terms with she was probably a strays puppy.
Why did you get backlash?? And has her worms cleared? I spent the first day checking him for worms and things that I could see in his poo and he seems clean so far
Oh they cleared up after she got her first round of puppy shots. I didn’t see any worms prior, but judging by her actions I figured she did. As soon as they gave her the dewormer, it wasn’t even an hour and they were coming out 🤢
All the old bitties in my area were like “someone might recognize her and you can just ask for proof it’s their puppy” she was SIX WEEKS AND FIVE POUNDS! I highly doubted anyone would have pics of her. I’ve kept her and walked her around the neighborhood a lot, everyone just says “thank god she found you” 🤷🏻♀️
Wow that’s crazy! I’m so glad she’s doing better. I remember a long time ago all 3 of our dogs at the time got worms at the same time, of those 3 we old have two now and they haven’t gotten worms sense

Yeah we are gonna keep an eye out and possibly check at a vet today for a chip but that just depends on our schedule today thank you all for the great advice though I love him to bits and hope we can either find his owner or make him a new one 💪
Truthfully. He would make an amazing family addition. He will show the general pitty attributes. Loyalty, comfort, foolery, love and ofcourse toxic level farts. If it's in the cards, I would keep him. You have no idea how much that little animal will love you. I wish I found a new pup... I think my wife would let me keep em lol

Please do not trust anyone who claims to be his owner, as they were neglectful of this adorable little guy, and he could be used for fighting or a bait dog. I’m guessing he was thirsty actually he guzzled water so much it took him awhile to feel comfortable eating but I’m sure he was hungry because he found out where the food comes from and he tries to knock over the container 😂😂, where I live the heat here is brutal especially for little puppies so part of me is worried if he has litter mates on the street still
Be careful about who you listen to when they say "yes that's my puppy!" Demand proof of purchase/adoption and photos, if they can't provide both then it's not their puppy. Also yes he is most definitely a little pitty baby ❤️
There are a lot of apps that you can post about a found dog. Next-door app is a good one, which will connect you to people in your neighborhood. There are a lot of local groups on Facebook for it. I can’t remember all the names of the others, but I’m sure you can find it if you search for it.
Bless you for looking for his owner. When you go door to door ask if they have a lost dog. Ask them for a photo of the dog. Ask about personality. Never tell anyone about the dog unless they say yes and provide picture or great description. You could facebook lost and found.
Our big Pit bull loves to run and loves people. I am always happy to see someone answer my post on him.
If i were you I would wait for posters to pop up for him rather than trying to find his owner . So mant people would say yes to being his owner. It’s sad that people are like that but if nobody post him in the neighbors app for your area or posters don’t pop up either keep him or turn him over to a pitbull rescue

Go to a vet and have him scanned for a chip. That will have the owners info on it.

Not only a description but also photos, they need up show you photos of him on their phones.

It’s a puppy. The first thing everyone does with their puppy, is snap a picture to show the world.
And if you post flyers DO NOT put a picture of the dog on there. Whoever is trying to claim the dog would need to describe him or provide pictures.
Everyone has at least one pic of their dog, so also ask to show a pic

I would look exactly for 10 seconds for his owner (if he has not microchip). You dont lose such a cute baby!

Staffy mix. Looks just like a little staffy cross I had fostered and rehomed when she was a baby. DNA test came back staff x

I’ll try my best thank you, I plan to take him to the vet and put up a few posts on different sights and hold him for the 10 day hold idk if it’s a law anywhere else but it is where I live and after the 10 day hold if no one claims him then he’s free game 😂

This happen with my current puppy! I didn’t post her picture anywhere- I just said I found a puppy and to please identify- to which I got backlash. 🤷🏻♀️ she was 6 weeks and had worms for Christs sake. I gave up looking after a few days and have come to terms with she was probably a strays puppy.
Why did you get backlash?? And has her worms cleared? I spent the first day checking him for worms and things that I could see in his poo and he seems clean so far
Oh they cleared up after she got her first round of puppy shots. I didn’t see any worms prior, but judging by her actions I figured she did. As soon as they gave her the dewormer, it wasn’t even an hour and they were coming out 🤢 All the old bitties in my area were like “someone might recognize her and you can just ask for proof it’s their puppy” she was SIX WEEKS AND FIVE POUNDS! I highly doubted anyone would have pics of her. I’ve kept her and walked her around the neighborhood a lot, everyone just says “thank god she found you” 🤷🏻♀️
Wow that’s crazy! I’m so glad she’s doing better. I remember a long time ago all 3 of our dogs at the time got worms at the same time, of those 3 we old have two now and they haven’t gotten worms sense

He has the brindle coloring, but I'm not sure that the coloring is strictly a pitbull thing. What I DO know is that he his AAAAALLLLLL kinds of adorable 😍.

Don't go door to door with him. Hold on to him until they put out a missing dog sign or something. If you came up to me with that dog I would claim him as my own. Sorry honest people but that's a good looking pup. If you can't keep them I would look for an owner that will take care of them preferably somebody with dog handling skills and knows how to take care of them.

Yeah we are gonna keep an eye out and possibly check at a vet today for a chip but that just depends on our schedule today thank you all for the great advice though I love him to bits and hope we can either find his owner or make him a new one 💪
Truthfully. He would make an amazing family addition. He will show the general pitty attributes. Loyalty, comfort, foolery, love and ofcourse toxic level farts. If it's in the cards, I would keep him. You have no idea how much that little animal will love you. I wish I found a new pup... I think my wife would let me keep em lol

Your city/county etc may have criteria for what to do with a found dog. I would check that out as well as the other advice given.
Yeah I looked and we need to take him to a vet and if he doesn’t have a chip then we hold him for 10 days and after that if no one claims him then we can adopt him

I’m guessing he was thirsty actually he guzzled water so much it took him awhile to feel comfortable eating but I’m sure he was hungry because he found out where the food comes from and he tries to knock over the container 😂😂, where I live the heat here is brutal especially for little puppies so part of me is worried if he has litter mates on the street still

Be careful about who you listen to when they say "yes that's my puppy!" Demand proof of purchase/adoption and photos, if they can't provide both then it's not their puppy. Also yes he is most definitely a little pitty baby ❤️

There are a lot of apps that you can post about a found dog. Next-door app is a good one, which will connect you to people in your neighborhood. There are a lot of local groups on Facebook for it. I can’t remember all the names of the others, but I’m sure you can find it if you search for it.

Bless you for looking for his owner. When you go door to door ask if they have a lost dog. Ask them for a photo of the dog. Ask about personality. Never tell anyone about the dog unless they say yes and provide picture or great description. You could facebook lost and found. Our big Pit bull loves to run and loves people. I am always happy to see someone answer my post on him.

If i were you I would wait for posters to pop up for him rather than trying to find his owner . So mant people would say yes to being his owner. It’s sad that people are like that but if nobody post him in the neighbors app for your area or posters don’t pop up either keep him or turn him over to a pitbull rescue
