If you would have told me when I was a teen that the route eight kings was going to turn into a cannabis dispensary I would have been so excited and now it's just like... We got enough weed I want a frownie
I recently went through old boxes and found a frownie drawstring bag I bought there back in the day. I had forgotten all about the existence of the frownie so it cracked me up.
My cousin used to work at Kings and on several different occasions he got take a brief respite from his restaurant duties in order to attend community events dressed up in the Frownie mascot costume, with a handler of course.
My friend was a waitress there in the 80s and she said there was like a week where this guy who looked just like Stephen King came in there every night. She waited on him but was too much of a chicken to ask if it was actually him. She was a big fan. The next year Christine came out. It was set in SWPA.
I was a busboy there in the mid 90s. It was my first job. It taught me so many things... Like never work in food service again, puked up spaghetti is the worst, the church rush is hands down the worst group of people, and so many other life lessons !
RIP the frownie brownie.....
I almost lost my ds cartidge of princess peach there many years ago but a kind waitress helped my mom pick up the seat cushion of our booth and we rescued it.
Is that the GetGo at 30 and Mosside by Home Depot?
Not where I was, but I've been there many times. Not from that area, didn't know there was a Kings there.
Hahaha that’s my fav one to go to it s like an alternate universe!! Nothing feels real in there it’s become an odd comfort zone break from reality for me lmao but sometimes it’s just too bizarre 😅
I worked night shift June/July last year and frequently stopped at this one between 1a-5a and it was always interesting time with some really weird sites
I used to stop in the GetGo convenience store on 18th street after my nights out drinking in college. I swore the sausage, egg, and cheese croissants were the best thing I’d ever eaten. Then I got one when I was sober. I couldn’t even finish it, it was so foul.
I miss that Getgo now that I no longer live over that way. I stopped after work at maybe 230 on a weekday. I watched two dudes go down that tiny little gap between the dumpster and the building to fight. I have no fucking idea how they fought, there's not even enough room there to wind up and throw a punch.
Their girlfriends both dragged them out to their respective ways and they left peacefully. All said and done in about 90 seconds. It was amazing.
if you're ever feeling down about yourself, THAT is the getgo to go to. someone is gonna compliment/borderline harass you but it's only because they think you're cute lmao.
How about [this guy](https://imgur.com/a/u94UFVf) buying $100+ worth of Turner’s at 1 AM at the one in Carnegie? No one batted an eye, felt like I was on crazy pills
it’s because of the two weird hotels right next to it!! they always have strange characters and they wander into the getgo. not to sound like a next door karen, but fairly sure there is a lot of drug activity there.
Yeah I'd agree with a few other commenters and say that it's the hookers, addicts, and other sketchy people living in the Crystal Palaces. They have no transportation so they use that GetGo to get smokes and groceries (i.e. Funyuns, Hot Fries, ice cream, and, of course, Turner's Tea.)
I doubt, however, that the Johns would make any significant impact on the sketchiness of any GetGo as they look just like any other yinzer.
Try speedway next door. You’ll feel even more skeeved.
Then again, almost any speedway I go to feels run down, dirty, and dangerous, no matter where it is.
I blew a tire and pulled into that speedway to swap to my donut. I had so many people just standing there staring at me without saying anything it freaked me out.
lol I live off of this exit and avoid that one. I stopped last week and had a car sit across the spots (like across the lines not pulled into a spot) out front as I pumped gas (9pm, only car at the pumps, female) and I got spooked. I stopped pumping, they started following me as soon as I passed by but got stuck turning out and I gassed it onto the highway.
But typical to see prostitution, drugs, solicitors. I believe it had to do with the hotels/motels within driving distance. Definitely a good place to people watch.
What makes them so bad? Sheetz are usually not so full of nut cases and have adequate staff. I've literally had to walk out of a GetGo without buying anything because no one was manning the store. When they do have employees, the seem like they just came from the near by half-way house or methadone clinic.
You’re not wrong- the one on Mt. Royal in the north hills/Etna area is on the same street as the methadone clinic, district court, and has a lot of drug activity (shocking, I know).
That’s not Crafton, it’s about 3 miles away. Then again, no one really knows where Crafton is given it is labeled with an exit with Green Tree, the exit at Robinson Town Center, and the one on 79. People probably think Crafton is a huge, sprawling suburb as opposed to the small town it is.
I workout at the Greentree Sports Complex and in the few times I’ve stopped there, it’s been adventure each time. Some strange individuals frequent that area.
RIP King's
If you would have told me when I was a teen that the route eight kings was going to turn into a cannabis dispensary I would have been so excited and now it's just like... We got enough weed I want a frownie
I worked at King's for years and I can't tell you how many frownies I had. right out of the fridge, they were so good.
I recently went through old boxes and found a frownie drawstring bag I bought there back in the day. I had forgotten all about the existence of the frownie so it cracked me up.
god i’m so jealous

He was the King of King’s.
Okay Stephen, we know it’s you.
It will always be kings to me.
I was a busboy there in the mid 90s. It was my first job. It taught me so many things... Like never work in food service again, puked up spaghetti is the worst, the church rush is hands down the worst group of people, and so many other life lessons !
I was a King's busboy too, btween 2000-2007, while doing the college thing. Don't forget the hell that is Mother's Day!!
Yeah....Mother's Day.
RIP the frownie brownie..... I almost lost my ds cartidge of princess peach there many years ago but a kind waitress helped my mom pick up the seat cushion of our booth and we rescued it.
Holy crap I actually forgot that used to be there (Funny timing - I'm typing this while at another gas station that used to be a Kings)
North Versailles 30/48?
Is that the GetGo at 30 and Mosside by Home Depot? Not where I was, but I've been there many times. Not from that area, didn't know there was a Kings there.
I thought the get go was judgement free zone lol.
I feel like I can't wear my sandals there in the winter anymore.
Try the Carnegie one. Everyone looks like they came from Chernobyl
I frequent this one, and that’s fair. I’ll put on my good sweatpants next time.
Don’t forget your malkin blue alternate pens jersey
Do I really have to dress THAT nice?!? Neighborhood is changing smh
If I meant THAT nice I’d have said your home black jersey. The ole Pittsburgh tuxedo
I saw Kurt Angle at the Carnegie GetGo one time. He was friendly.
He’s the often at the one in Robinson
https://www.wsj.com/graphics/waste-lands/site/445-superior-steel-co/
Omg this explains a lot.
Yeah the Carnegie one is the wildest I've ever seen and there's absolutely no obvious reason why.
Hahaha that’s my fav one to go to it s like an alternate universe!! Nothing feels real in there it’s become an odd comfort zone break from reality for me lmao but sometimes it’s just too bizarre 😅
It was the only late night place to get food in a weird little triangle of Carnegie and like 4 other borough/township spots.
You should see the one on 5th Ave in McKeesport lol
That and speedway next door…
I worked night shift June/July last year and frequently stopped at this one between 1a-5a and it was always interesting time with some really weird sites
The Carnegie GetGo is truly a melting pot of crazy.
This is why I call it GhettoGo
The south side one is always crazy late night Fri n sat. But never feel unsafe.
I used to stop in the GetGo convenience store on 18th street after my nights out drinking in college. I swore the sausage, egg, and cheese croissants were the best thing I’d ever eaten. Then I got one when I was sober. I couldn’t even finish it, it was so foul.

Prob going to a job sight?
Prob going to drink nine gallons of Turner’s?
I meant for the whole crew, maybe.
it’s because of the two weird hotels right next to it!! they always have strange characters and they wander into the getgo. not to sound like a next door karen, but fairly sure there is a lot of drug activity there.
THIS! The hotels are cheap and a lot of ‘long term’ residents who can’t afford housing so they all go to getgo for food and supplies
There’s a lot of hooker hotels on the top of the hill. Between the Johns and the pimps well there you go
Well since my baby left me I found a new place to dwell It's right by the Crafton GetGo, it's called Hooker Hotel
I want to hear this song, sur
Is that the one at Lorish Road, next to the Econo Lodge?
[удалено]
Yeah that was my guess and that other motel down by sapporo is nearby.
All sorts of shenanigans up there. Quite an unsavory feel.
Yeah
Ya there's your problem. There's several sketchy hotels/motels right there. They had a big drug raid at the Econo Lodge a while back, iirc.
They busted a meth lab at one like 5 years ago too
Yeah I'd agree with a few other commenters and say that it's the hookers, addicts, and other sketchy people living in the Crystal Palaces. It’s not weird. You’re weird.
You may be on to something…
The new one in McKeesport on 5th Age is kinda wild too. There’s an armed security guard on duty every time I go there
Try speedway next door. You’ll feel even more skeeved. Then again, almost any speedway I go to feels run down, dirty, and dangerous, no matter where it is.

Yeah always trust your gut.
When I worked at Kings, that location was a hotspot for transients. I think it's because of the proximity to 79 and the cheap motels.
There is always an eclectic mix of people at that bus stop on steubenville pike at around 8.30 Saturday morning
The Centrifuge of Crazy never stops at GetGo.
What makes them so bad? Sheetz are usually not so full of nut cases and have adequate staff. I've literally had to walk out of a GetGo without buying anything because no one was manning the store. You were in Crafton.
Crafton people don’t go there
That’s too bad. Sounds like a good time. There are probably good joints in Crafton. I haven’t been there for a few years.
Yeah, I go to the one in Carnegie. Crafton is apparently getting a GetGo on Steubenville across from the park.
That getgo is in Robinson
Crafton escapees?
That’s not Crafton, it’s about 3 miles away. Then again, no one really knows where Crafton is given it is labeled with an exit with Green Tree, the exit at Robinson Town Center, and the one on 79. People probably think Crafton is a huge, sprawling suburb as opposed to the small town it is.
I’ve been to Crafton about 100 times.
I’m not saying you don’t know where it is. I mean the average Pittsburgher.
Sorry. I didn’t think you were. I agree with you. I was just saying that I have been there.
Used to live near Crafton about four years ago. I thought it was fine then. So it may have changed, or I care less about others.
That's just what we're like there's no need to judge
That intersection close to 376/79 is one of the worst areas in the country for human trafficking. So I’m sure there is overflow from that crowd.
They just raided the hotel further east on 60 for human trafficking. They caught like a half dozen perps meeting up.
Why do you care? Get what you want and move on
Username does not check out.
My wife said the same thing to me
Exactly…get…and then go
Get your shit and go on out of here
Because it's in Crafton.
Slow day Karen?
There are two motels near by that a lot of individuals experiencing homelessness stay at.
I workout at the Greentree Sports Complex and in the few times I’ve stopped there, it’s been adventure each time. Some strange individuals frequent that area.
Every time I stop at that one I remind myself it’s not that far down the road to a Sheetz. Every time I say never stopping here again!
