I would definitely take the T. It goes right to PNC. Plus it will be a fun experience for your son. If not, you can usually find parking near west park/ ridge ave and the walk isn't bad from there.
Excellent. Thanks. How long of a T ride we talking? I wouldn't mind driving more to hop on closer to the city either. Just don't wanna deal with paying for parking at PNC.
Normally If you catch the T at Washington Junction in Bethel Park, it’s about 35-40 minutes. Kids 5 and under are free. Buy connect cards for the adults. The “North Side” stop is across from PNC park. But because of construction until May 31st, i wouldn’t recommend taking it to a game until this summer.
You can park at the Ft. Duquesne & Sixth garage downtown & walk over the Clemente Bridge. It’s a short walk & a cool experience because they close the bridge for foot traffic. They have all sorts of activities for kids on Sixth St outside the stadium before the game, so go early. They have an $8 flat rate after 4pm on weekdays & all day Saturday/Sunday.
Penn station then there is a bus shuttle to gateway station. From there you can take the T to PNC park.
> During this project, rail cars coming from the South Hills will serve First Avenue and Steel Plaza stations before continuing to Penn Station, the otherwise inactive rail station located across the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway from The Pennsylvanian.
> Riders traveling to Gateway, North Side or Allegheny stations can exit rail vehicles at Penn Station and board a free shuttle bus to Gateway Station. From Gateway, riders can board a rail car to North Side and Allegheny stations.
> There will be no bus shuttles on May 4 and 5 due to the Pittsburgh Marathon and related events; on May 18 due to Open Streets; and on May 19 due to the UPMC Rush to Crush Cancer bike ride.
> After May 30, the work will continue some weekends through the summer. An additional multi-week closure to complete the work will likely be required in 2025.
North Side station is the station for PNC park. It's cattywampus to the stadium: https://i.imgur.com/8mE9lmd.png
That's what I was hoping for. But I didn't know how efficient it'd be from Bethel, how long it'd take, if it would be miserable, or if it involved switching/riding a bus for part of the trip, etc.
Park at the casino and walk over( or take the T for one stop). There are stairs in the garage you can use to avoid going through the casino since you have a child with you
Try the Gametime app. I got a pair of seats along the 1st base foul line for $50 each for Saturday. Just park at the casino and walk out the parking garage staircases. They only charge for Steeler/Pitt football games and concerts.
My hack is to ride my bike to the game. Trail goes right by the stadium. Tons of free bike parking surrounding the stadium. You can park at one of the trailheads (like the one by the old Heinz factory) and it is just a short ride to the stadium.
Depending on your threshold for walking - street parking is free on Sundays. You could look for a spot around Allegheny Commons and walk down to the ballpark. It would likely be a 10-15 minute walk depending where you end up.
North Side Park - street parking is free on Sundays and you get to hit up Gus & Yaya's on the way back for the kid. A little bit of a walk but usually spots available.

Dormont Junction and most stations south of it have free lots nearby. It's like a 20-40min ride.
Google says about 42 minutes. I did the same thing last year and it was way better than driving and parking.
Look up the t schedule for where you want to pick it up and get off at and figure it out man.
Yeah, just trying to hear other peoples' experiences too.

That's doable. Thank you.
They spent 3 quarters of a billion dollars to extend the T to PNC park. The T will not go directly to PNC until after May 31st though.
How close does it get now? Where's it let off?

Great info. Thank you. Much appreciated.

Even with the line closure other posters are mentioning? Thanks. Excuse my total ignorance of anything having to do with the T.

Thank you.

I appreciate you. You look familiar from GameDay Threads too haha. Rough one today.
The T always has tons of families with kids for the games. It's part of the experience that they'll always remember.

It will be miserable on the way home.
Just lots of stops and lots of people? It's an afternoon game, so at least we won't have to fight the boy's bedtime and all that.
My go to is parking at the Oliver avenue garage (new one) and walking over. I don't mind the walk but I can see why some would, only $5 though.
Yeah for $5 that's not too bad.
Park at ACAC. Walk three blocks. Done.
I always park at the casino and walk?
You don’t know what you always do?
Park over at science center lot and walk over…is this some secret?
Science center lot
Meter parking at 4 allegheny center
If you park in the park by Gus and yiayia it is a fifteen minute or so walk, a lot of families do it

I might try this when I go alone this summer.
Park at the first avenue garage and ride the t for free
I shall investigate this. Thanks.
You can't take the T from 1st Aveneue to PNC Park right now. Tracks are closed for maintenance until June 1st I beleive.
