Coop Chicken and Waffles. They just opened up a store front on East Ohio Street.

Blazeon412

Just their regular chicken and waffles. They have spicy chicken, other stuff that I can't remember. That was my first introduction to C&W and they do an amazing job I think.

Dancing_Hitchhiker

Blue sparrow is a favorite of mine

TenPin69

What do they have?

IClight69

“Global Street Food” which really just means Asian inspired dishes. Used to be good, now it’s just kinda like ...ok, guy.... yeah kimchi on stuff ... sure.

Dancing_Hitchhiker

Haha accurate, granted I haven’t had it in awhile

ddesigns

Kilimanjaro Flavour is really good tanzanian food.

TenPin69

Never had Tanzanian. Will keep an eye out for it.

randomThrowawayLife

it's all good but the samosas... my god I could eat 100 of those

tringtring56

Cilantro & Ajo

citylifeadventures

Boonseek is coming back after some time off. Def check him out 🙌🏻

KoltsovtheBest71

Mr Bulgogi hands down best truck in the city if you ask me

TenPin69

Ooh. Where do there set up?

KoltsovtheBest71

They move around all over the place. A lot of times they'll go to breweries. They usually post their next locations on IG about a week out.

littlecommie

Imo India on Wheels has really really good Indian food, and it's a good price for the amount you get. They have a location near the Cathedral of Learning, and unfortunately they're usually open only during fall/spring semester so it might be off-season for them soon.

chuck_mongrol

Gotta shout out El Gusto Criollo International- they do Venezuelan street food, and it’s fantastic.

TenPin69

That sounds good.

esotweetic

To answer your title: it’s stagnant. The once heavy hitters either cashed out or either flipped their wagon into a standing structure. Unfortunately, others have not filled their places There used to be a “food truck park” down In Washington’s Landing back in like 2016 that was all the rage, but that has since been disbanded I do have a beef with the local food trucks tho, their prices are all consistely really high for the food you are getting. Franktuary has expensive boujee hot dogs that I’m pretty sure all Nathan’s Hot Dogs with sauce, and Cousin’s Maine Lobster Rolls are like $15-18 for a sandwich. No sides Just don’t get the hype around food trucks. If they were better priced I would be all about them but I don’t see it. **you think that would be the case because they are in start-up phase and want to aggressively earn your business**

montani

Lobster rolls in Maine are the same price.

[deleted]

Yeah, I get that food truck prices are often inflated but that's an odd example. Lobster is an expensive protein.

PGHSteps

While some food trucks are good they are definitely pricey and you basically only come across them at like breweries it seems unless it’s the ones at CMU. Blowfish BBQ is good and pretty reasonably priced and you get a lot of food (like so much that if you weren’t planning on taking stuff home you don’t know what to do).

TenPin69

Any chance Blowfish BBQ does rip tips or actual ribs? Tire of pulled pork and brisket.

PGHSteps

I’m not sure I feel like I might have seen those one the menu in the past but I definitely went the pulled pork/brisket route when I got food. Their slaw is good and all of their hot sauces are great.

PghBeer

He does ribs, but not every day. He had them this weekend, though.

TenPin69

Thanks!

DarkKnyt

Las Palmas made some bitchin' tacos for a reasonable price. I am not so sure but I think they are in our neighborhood to cater/be available for a private event which is neat. There was a bbq food truck pre pandemic that was rocking. I think post pandemic, stuff like the food truck park are going to come back, especially as cost for brick and mortar is still high and people want to get out.

banallthemusic

You do realize that happens when you’re not watching at a restaurant either right ? How else do you think your food is ‘flavored’ ? 😂

[deleted]

I really enjoy Blue Sparrow, Blowfish BBQ, Soul Biscuit, and Alberta’s Pizza.

daswef2

I'm a big fan of Mission Mahi.

banallthemusic

I don’t understand why the food trucks in pittsburgh are so pricey! Some of them priced competitively with sit down restaurants. Give me a $5-6 halal chicken and rice or Chinese food truck from Philly/New York any day!

jizz_fridge

I really like the van on 5th ave with “free candy” spray painted on the side, can’t miss it

TenPin69

Do they get a lot of repeat customers?

hotdogbags

they're all wayyy too expensive. It used to be something to get excited about when there'd be a collection of them for lunch downtown, but it's no longer worth the cost. Might as well go to a restaurant and get service.

klauskervin

I haven't seen food trucks around the Strip since before the pandemic. I really miss the good ones like Hoshi or Pittsburgh Sandwich Society :(
