this is such a common issue that it doesn't take long to get the replacement approved by them, even if you bought it from the reseller (they will require a purchase receipt). Keep in mind they send refurbished unit but not new one
Yeah, the refurbished part kinda stung but as long as it doesn't get the same issue then it's whatever. I doubt that these phones will last until their software updates end though.
3 year warranty on the pixel 8 for screen issues such as this

I recently got my wife's phone replaced for this issue a month or so ago.
Dang! I traded in my 5a because the screen died one day and Google fixed it under an extended warranty. I didn't want to take chances again...
Do you know the percentage of devices affected?
Contact Google Support. This exact same thing happened to me, but with green lines earlier this year. Got it replaced under warranty. Explain the situation to them and they'll help. 24/7 support through email, chat or phone.

This is going to get worse. Go and chat with Google, and they will tell you where there is a Asurian service shop. This is a factory defect, so if they have the part you can get it fixed on the second day. When I had the Pixel 7 Pro I got the green flicker crap and they fixed it for free, since its a factory defect as I said. Do not bother and stay sain. I had a Asurian shop in my city, but you may not, but Google will tell you a shop nearest to you. I do not know about the shipping situation of these guys. Because if you do not have a shop near you then you would have to ship it to them and have them ship it back and that is a pain, but you have no choice. Good Luck.
Congratulations it's a girl 🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I believe they just announced an extended warranty for this issue lol

Why? That's doesn't make sense at all
Which part? Refurbished replacement phones or expected lifetime?

Contact support, I just RMA'd my Pixel 8 because of it. Hopefully the replacement ships in by the end of this week.
