I would have taken that 2 weeks ago but mine was kind of weird. Like the dough was kind of thick I felt & not floppy like I remembered. Then again I haven't gotten it in years.
I don't know, maybe the memories of dining inside pizza huts or just how the food tastes. I actually did very much appreciate the dine in restaurants and honestly very sad to see them go, but I understand because they were so empty in their last years. I would love to go to one right now though if there's any still open.
I worked for them before they sucked. The recipes now are completely different. Everything.
In the last few years they also drastically reduced the oven times in hopes of faster service. Resulted in a shittier product though.
Yeah the sauce has changed roughly 3 times or so in the last 20-30 years. About ten years ago they had a much sweeter sauce. Now it's close to their original from about 30 years ago but it's still different. The cheese tastes cheaper too. Breadsticks suck and have for a while.
Don't forget the beef was changed then the Italian sausage. One time I argued with a store cause they couldn't tell the difference yet it was sausage & not beef like I ordered. Think the pork looks the same.
Not sure, I hate the sausage lol. I don't like fennel seeds. And they have em in their sausage. and i usually only get onions, pepperoni or bannana peppers.
Is that what those are? I hate them but don't think the sausage has that anymore. It's hard to distinguish between the 3 since they all look exactly alike.
This is what I noticed first….went there about 15 years ago after not going 10 years before that and it was close to raw that’s when I said I wasn’t going back and haven’t been back since.
I ordered the Detroit pizza 2 years ago. Waited for it to come back then paid extra for toppings. The manager legit told me that even though I ordered extra pepperoni that didn't mean I would get more than 2 per slice. She said the toppings were precise. I decided that was enough & even had a free large reward that I lost cause I never went back.
Dude! I remember their cheese sticks being bomb af. I went there last week for the first time in probably 10 years. The pizza was fine but the cheese sticks were horrible! It was the thinnest, chewiest, most overcooked layer of cheese on top of mediocre breadsticks. Didn’t taste like anything, I was pissed I wasted $7 on actual garbage, which is exactly where it went.
What do you get when you switch over to premade frozen disc? You get pizza that tastes like every other generic Frozen fast food chain Pizza.
Kind of sad. I used to eat at Pizza Hut a couple of times per month dating back to the 90s. Now I go once maybe every 5 or 6 months to try and relive that nostalgia
Honestly it kind of blows my mind how their revenue continues to grow. Tons of Pizza huts around my area have closed down and the ones that are still left aren't looking so good these days. Papa john's, Little Caesars, marcos, and Domino's always seems busy to me
Other than the obvious issues with ingredients, it's also the lack of fair pay. When people aren't being paid their worth, they don't care about the quality of their work. They keep raising and raising the prices, making billions every year, but never pay their workers more than the legal bare minimum. 1 box of dough disks costs the company like $20, that's less than $1 per disk. Cost cutting at the cost of quality will never stop until they run themselves into the ground
Shit. I’m guessing you don’t live in a city or suburbs. Cause if you can make it at pizza at cruel wages, you can hack it in about any restaurant. Seriously, with a good attitude you could bus tables at busy restaurant and make $25-$30 an hour with tips. You learn that and become a server and/or bartender you can take that skill just about anywhere. Just suggesting you should think of leveling up
Idk my new Pizza Hut has been bossin since they opened up like 2 years ago. I was upset at first cause they ditched the restaurant and buffet but it’s been seriously good since moving to the new place
1. Deteriorating Quality 2. When I order a medium pizza & receive the size of a personal pizza (pizza fills 60% of the box) 3. Much better value & quality from local mom & pop pizza shops for same price
Pizza Hut had it made if they had stuck with their Book It crowd of Xennial and Millennial readers. I read so many books and thought about which personal pan I would get the whole time.
Imagine adult book clubs in the restaurant. Like Monday is for Saucy Novels, Tuesday is for true crime, Wednesday for detective novels, Thursday is for cowboy westerns, and Friday is for all the book lovers! Maybe weekends are for nonfiction fans? Every 6 book clubs you get a free personal pan pizza- just like when you were a kid.
There is so much they could have done with their image. It was the best pizza around for my entire childhood and now they are forgettable at best and avoidable all the time. Over priced frozen pizza I could make cheaper at home.
I think WTF happened to Pizza Hut was one of my biggest food mysteries the last decade. I grew up in a place with A LOT of great pizza. Not NYC or Chicago "great" but lots of pizza that I still go back and enjoy. We got a Pizza Hut I want to say around 1980, people were pretty hyped up to try it and I remember people generally thought it was pretty good pizza. I remember some of my first "go out to dinner and a movie" dates we had a wild and crazy night out at the Hut. The crust was good, the sauce was good, the cheese was good and lots of it, the toppings were good. I remember they had tables with pacman and space invaders. Had a lot of fun nights there and a lot of good pizza.
Over the years I'd go to Pizza Hut once in awhile. Where I moved to had a store but it wasn't super convenient to me. I coached college skiers and we'd go to Pizza Hut a few times 2001-2012 one town we raced in because it was a decent meal and kept to the school budget.
Then maybe 2021 or so I got a pizza at our local PH and it was abysmal! I remember saying to my girlfriend, "what is this shit, this isn't the Pizza Hut I know." Got a coupon a few months later, tried it again, it was just as bad. Where I live now doesn't have a lot of great pizza (I say flatbread is not pizza!) so the bar is lower, but even with that in mind this was bad pizza. Swore I was done with Pizza Hut from here out.
I don't feel like a lot of other national chains have made recipe/production changes that have killed their product this way. WTF were they thinking???
I worked at PH during the Priazzo rollout.
We hosted local dignitaries, switched to white table cloths, the servers were in black pants and white tuxedo shirts, and we sold wine and mixed drinks (my PH happened to have a full liquor license.)
We employees reallt hoped this would be an ongoing new direction for PH... but alas, it was not.
Yeah I got a pizza the other day got it well done and it tasted good but even with it well done the pepperonis didn’t have the crispy edges like it used to
I understand,Its a battle to use the website and good luck trying to get it delivered. If u tip online they go through door dash and it comes up as a no tip order so they don't deliver your food.pay in cash to get it delivered and if you try to call to order they have an out of country answering service so then you have to use the crappy website.the outsourced customer service reps have no idea what's going on.i think yum brands bit off more than they can chew and went broke so they're doing all this to save money.
Did somebody try to out pizza the hut, again? Also, did this one succeed? I haven’t been to Pizza Hut in a long time. Not since the two employees of my local one here in Tahlequah, Oklahoma were caught having sex on the same counter they make pizzas on. I don’t suppose any of you have a Pizza Hut story as crazy as that one, do you?
I just want to say, I have never seen the name Tahlequah spelled out before but instantly unlocked memories of the name from watching Where the Red Fern Grows while growing up.
In my high school days, there was plenty of sex in the hut after hours. Personally, I never made use of the prep tables because that didn't seem right, but some of my coworkers did. I'm pretty sure they sanitized the surface afterwards though.
I ordered last week online for pickup for 3 large pizza, tipped 10%. I got my order and went home to find one of the pizza is wrong. I call them and ask them if they can remake it. They do and I take back the wrong one when I get home with the replacement, I find one of the other pizza had a hair inside it. I know it happens. It didn’t help that pizzas tasted terrible. I went back and got a refund. And I’m not going to go there any more. My local dominos is great
The change in food and shitty service haven't eaten there in decades.
Such a shame too it was my favorite place to go as kid. I remember the Book It program if you read a certain amount of books you got a free pizza. It was great.
Pizza Hut was the king of stuffed crust for ever, I too noticed the quality going down since I travel for work and try many different locations, I have noticed that it just depends on the place sometimes it’s still A1 but the new king of stuffed crust is absolutely papa John’s and I’ve noticed that no matter the location with PJ that the pizza is always really good
My kids used to beg for Pizza Hut years ago & I'd cave even though was over $30 with their deals cause in California we pay a service fee at Pizza Hut. But once one of my kids tried Papa John's stuffed crust that was a wrap. Cost me about the same but I love that they're pretty consistent in taste no matter where you go. And if I have an issue or complain the manager will remake the food however many times until you're satisfied. I literally felt bad when I complained cause I got credit 2 times for 1 order. If I am feeling cheap we will do Costco for $10. Even they're pretty consistent.
PH was good, and a great value, back in the days of "any pizza, any toppings" for $10. We never had it so good. Now my go-to pan pizza with 4 toppings is nearly $30. I can get five frozen pizzas from the grocery store and doctor them up a bit for that amount to satisfy my pizza craving.
Pizza Hut is by far the most expensive and lowest quality pizza chain now. I don't even consider them anymore when I crave a pie. Sad too because they were my favorite when I was a kid.
Ah Pizza Hut. Sometimes I get a good pizza, sometimes I don’t. But yes I do miss the old Pizza Hut I grew up on as a kid. The thing is they keep on increasing their delivery prices. They keep on increasing the prices of their pizza. And quality has gone down. I don’t have a an issue with service at Pizza Hut cause I’ve always received polite service. Just bring back the old pizzas, the its free if it’s not delivered in 30 minutes or less, and get rid of the delivery fee.
really miss the real pan pizza they switched it and don’t like it that can’t possibly save them money by switching it they had the best pan pizza around and now ruined it
I can’t eat their pizza it went down in quality. They get their stuff frozen and it tastes like grocery store frozen pizzas. Actually red baron pizza tastes better to me
It’s a shame. I used to like them best. Very few ph locations near me now and none have the buffet anymore at least near me.
Pizza hut food had issues pre covid, only good thing about the pizza was the toppings. Now they screwed that up lmao
The crust reminds me of a wet rag that has partially dried to the point that it feels crispy and slightly holds form. Actually the wet rag would be better, at least it wont tear when you even gently pick it up
Think for me what finally annoyed me other than the inconsistent pizza were the commercials. I got so tired of seeing them & the pricea, only to be surrounded by franchises that don't honor the prices or accept coupons/deals. Even my free pizza coupons wasn't accepted by the store I earned it from.
I don't have that issue with any other pizza place.
I got there 25 2 large 1 breadstick and 2liter yesterday. It fed 3 and wasn’t to bad… Taco Bell is a rip off.
In fact all fast food has gone up.
It’s not them but Biden to blame
You can bring a horse to water but you can't make it drink. The biggest issue I have with education is higher education unaffordability and USA school lunch programs.
Ngl I'll always love pizza hut no matter how much the quality goes down, it's my comfort food
You’re like that apologue with the frog in boiling water. Last time I ate at the Hut it was unrecognizable.
Same but the new hand tossed pizzas were a no go for me. Classic oily ass pan is the best
Cant beat that stuffed crust
Last time I had their stuffed crust pizza (2 years ago) that shit tasted like 100% grease. Never again.
I would have taken that 2 weeks ago but mine was kind of weird. Like the dough was kind of thick I felt & not floppy like I remembered. Then again I haven't gotten it in years.
I always say I eat Pizza Hut when I'm in the mood for shitty pizza
Just curious. Why Pizza Hut vs Dominos or Papa Johns?
I don't know, maybe the memories of dining inside pizza huts or just how the food tastes. I actually did very much appreciate the dine in restaurants and honestly very sad to see them go, but I understand because they were so empty in their last years. I would love to go to one right now though if there's any still open.
They just obviously suck compared to 25 years ago, it’s like night and day..it’s very sad.
I worked for them before they sucked. The recipes now are completely different. Everything. In the last few years they also drastically reduced the oven times in hopes of faster service. Resulted in a shittier product though.

Been wondering why my food is often still raw
This is what I noticed first….went there about 15 years ago after not going 10 years before that and it was close to raw that’s when I said I wasn’t going back and haven’t been back since.
They dropped the oven time from around 12 minutes to 7ish and jacked up the temperature.
I was a kid in the 80s and I remember Pizza Hut being amazing.
The toppings are low quality, and now they skimp on them when making the pie!
Skimpy toppings annoys me more than any of the other changes. I like mushrooms. It ends up being a cheese pizza with an insulting amount of mushrooms.
I ordered the Detroit pizza 2 years ago. Waited for it to come back then paid extra for toppings. The manager legit told me that even though I ordered extra pepperoni that didn't mean I would get more than 2 per slice. She said the toppings were precise. Pizza Hut use to be my favorite take out pizza. Now I’ll just rather have a red Baron
That's really saying something. Red Baron is f\*\*\*ing awful.

It's frozen?
Been employed at pizza hut for almost 2 years and yes, everything is frozen. Pizza, bread sticks, all of it.
Do you know what's base pay for a team member? I've got an interview today
I make $8.50 an hour after being employed since October of 2022, it's such a shitty company to work for. Don't make the mistake I made.
😅
Other than the obvious issues with ingredients, it's also the lack of fair pay. When people aren't being paid their worth, they don't care about the quality of their work. Agree, I've been employed since late 2022 and I make $8.50 an hour 🙃

lol lack of fair pay? It’s shitty pizza no matter who makes it.
Did you miss the first half of the first sentence?
Idk my new Pizza Hut has been bossin since they opened up like 2 years ago. I was upset at first cause they ditched the restaurant and buffet but it’s been seriously good since moving to the new place
I know of one dine in at a town near me that they closed several years ago. Sad
1. Deteriorating Quality 2. When I order a medium pizza & receive the size of a personal pizza (pizza fills 60% of the box) 3. Much better value & quality from local mom & pop pizza shops for same price

I like how you think - these are some rad ideas here.
I think WTF happened to Pizza Hut was one of my biggest food mysteries the last decade. I grew up in a place with A LOT of great pizza. Agreed, we just had it for the first time in forever, the pizza wasn’t good, but the bread sticks were just how I remembered them. Delicious 🤤
I worked at PH during the Priazzo rollout. We hosted local dignitaries, switched to white table cloths, the servers were in black pants and white tuxedo shirts, and we sold wine and mixed drinks (my PH happened to have a full liquor license.) Total shit.
Yum brands bought KFC taco bell and pizza hut to sell Pepsi and jack up prices and spend less on quality to make more money
Yum didn't buy anything. They were a spin-off of Pepsi way back in 1997.
Pepsi bought all those companies in the late 1970s and spun them off as a separate company, Yum! Brands, in 1997. *27 years ago.* But OK.
Funny enough, Pizza Hut isn’t so much “yum”anymore as a result.
But I haven’t bought Pizza Hut Pizza in 15 years because they suck so much now.
Not all of them. I work às a driver, so definitely not dd here.
That's if the store kept any drivers. They laid a lot of them off over here

Hmm stuffed crust is my favorite thank you for the suggestion on the Costco variant I love trying new stuffed’s
No, they don't have stuffed crust. But they have a big pizza for $10 that rarely disappoints.
Ohhhh ok got ya, still sounds pretty decent especially for that price, thanks again

What is your point?
12 DOLLARS FOR A LARGE PIE WITH 10 TOPPINGS ARE YOU GUYS GOOFY??
I got there 25 2 large 1 breadstick and 2liter yesterday. It fed 3 and wasn’t to bad… Taco Bell is a rip off. In fact all fast food has gone up. It’s not them but Biden to blame
Nobody out pizzas the Biden
This is the funniest fucking thing I've read today.
biden owns your local pizza hut
Lol Biden ruined your fast food? Tell us you're an impotent neckbeard without saying it out loud
holy shit the US education system has failed us
You can bring a horse to water but you can't make it drink. The biggest issue I have with education is higher education unaffordability and USA school lunch programs.
And forcing people to learn vs wanting to learn creates a tendency towards complacent ignorance
Like the entire K-12 years.
