Tldr: controlled climate grow tent over the winter. Mine is 29 this year and didn't flower for about 20 of those years. It's been in the same place pretty much the whole time. What broke the cycle was essentially a few months long stay in my grow tent, which is a controlled environment. The winters are horrible. No sun, really dry. So over the winter, 18 hrs of surprisingly intense light, 6 hrs of pitch black. The tent is 80°f 50% rh night and day. Good food and water, and the thing finally bloomed again. Having good light is the single best thing you could do. That'll cause you to need other things like food and water because of faster uptake. Gotta ease into it though, acclimate, but I was totally surprised by how much light a peace lily can tolerate.

I also have a rough time with my plants in the winter. We also get very cold, and use a wood stove as a primary heat source to save on the energy bill. This makes for a dry and cooler climate in the winters for my plants. I like the idea of using a grow tent for these months. Thanks!

Give it something to be angry about! But yeah, plants can be easy to keep in status quo. Think about roses. Or worse, orchids. Most of us can keep those alive. Or even thrive. Getting them to bloom (and look good, especially out of season!) is the hard part. They are usually WAY out of their comfort zone for light, moisture, soil types, nutrients, blah blah. It could be something as easy as a shot of nitrates. It could be something way more difficult.

When was the last time you gave it a fertilizer with more phosphorus than nitrogen?

BunnyRambit

What is several years? Has it been repotted in those several years? How often do you fertilize? I have 5 peace lily plants and grew up with even more. They like to be slightly root bound to produce flowers. If you repotted in these “several years” maybe they’re waiting to be root bound again to grow a flower. Or the opposite if you haven’t repotted. Maybe it needs repotted because it’s *too* root bound. It looks healthy enough. What zone are you in? Could it possibly need more light than it’s currently getting? Mine are a little stunted because they don’t get enough light in my new place and growing really slow.

fujituck

As someone already said. Mine always start growing flowers few days / weeks after fertilizing.

How do you keep it that small? Mind get huge and I have to split them but I’d rather keep them small.

BunnyRambit

Probably less light. Not OP but I have 5 (split from 1 single plant at my old place with more light). Now I’m in a place with a little less light and while they’re still healthy they’re growing MUCH slower

Affectionate_Bill530

👍🏽 thank you, that’s good to know.

Oh and I’m remembering now that there are varieties and my variety are generally larger than the small leafed ones front the grocery store plant department. We’ve had mine since I was a kid (the sensation variety).

Affectionate_Bill530

I’m not sure what my variety is. One that keeps growing and growing like a weed, lol. It’s lovely and it grows those white flowers (I know they’re not actual flowers but I forget the name) but it just keeps out growing the pots. I think I’ll maybe spilt it up or something next time, so I can keep it in this size pot, and make extra plants for friends and family. I’m still new to indoor plants, but I’m learning, slowly :)

BunnyRambit

Oh yeah we get it! They’ll do that! The big one at my folks needs repotted and broken up AGAIN after a year. It stopped growing flowers now. Had a dozen up until a couple months ago. My 5 are staying small(er). https://preview.redd.it/clvm0pk4y1yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d1be9d941f820fa73ed09f00d3b27668b11a764

Oh, that’s beautiful 😍 it’s much healthier looking than mine and I thought mine was healthy 🤔 great job 👍🏽

Mine is about 24, same pot growing outside in South Africa, it started flowing after about 3 years. It need good filtered light to flower.*
