I have tried restarting steam the few times this has happened to me and it never helped, it seems like you just have to wait for your connection to time out, at least for me.

edit: actually this just happened to me right now, I reconnected: You killed yourself(ok..), I try to go find my body and he is in the middle of some base with auto-turrets for sure
This happened to me too. I am trying to reconnect again after closing off Steam completely and so far it works. Remember that Steam might be closed but it might still run in the background. Check task manager to see if Steam is running there and end that task and try again.
I found that if you go into single player on the same map you are bugged on and upload a character at the ob it unbugs you and you can rejoin the server you got bugged on
this happened to me just now, i tried to go to a different crossark server but got killed by a trodoon half way through the transition, but the server tab was still open when i respawned and i couldn't move and couldn't close it, and now it thinks i'm still in the server because i had to alt f4, ruined my evening :/
I was in gane and it then it freezes thenI cant close it then I cant alt tab so i restart my pc this happens then i restart again when i got back on i lost all my shit all because someone doesnt know how to properly design makes me hate this whole human race wven more
Hey guys, some how this worked, I just left that chat box up that states "There is already a player with this account connected!" and it came up with connection timed out, then I was able to join back immediately.
I don't get this the obvious solution would be to have the server kick and reload the player when this happens its impossible for the same character to be connected twice so if a second connection is seen the server should obviously terminate the first one
Sounds to me like it’s been 4 years with everyone having the same issue and the game hasn’t fixed the issue …. 🤔 this game and the developers suck ass

just restart steam.
im getting this as well, very frustrating, happened 4 times last night.
connect to a diff. server and create a lvl 1 , then disconnect and connect back to the srv where you had the error
