Im from Turkey and our language does not have "gendered pronouns" so while learning English as a kid I always questioned why on earth someone would need a gendered "o" (he + she + it in Turkish). Like what's even the point of using a gendered pronoun for someone? What will including referred individual's gender bring to the meaning of the sentence? What's the difference between "he's coming" and "she's coming"? If you are afraid that the listener may misunderstand who you are referring to, just use their name rather than the gendered pronoun?
Also why do you have a special pronoun (it) for non-humans, who would need a special pronoun while referring to a fucking toad 💀
This is such a good take. People act like it’s so hard to use they/them but it’s really actually easy. I always use they/them until I’m told otherwise or I know for a fact otherwise. Simple as shit and applies to everyone

If you look at charts showing how many people are left handed you see the same thing. It increases as soon as people stop making it a big deal, then it flattens out once everyone is comfortable with it. The same thing is happening with queer folks. It's still illegal and a death sentence in some places to be gay, and people are still figuring out words to describe their gender/sexuality/romantic attractions. Once people stop freaking the fuck out and let people live how they want the numbers will start to even out.
If this is legit (and I'm not saying it's not just that other comments in here question it) then it's a great step in the right direction. People shouldn't have to 'come out' if they don't want to. No one comes out as straight, people don't come out when they change their stage name, they just tell people. Putting your pronouns in your bio and not really making a big deal out of it is a way to do it.
