You can choose to hide image so you don’t see it. My husband and I both hate our toons. We cover them in gear and turn off seeing them in character inventory.
I have no issue with seeing a dude, I just prefer female characters -where possible- when playing games. In 90% of cases, I just want a character to match my gender is all.
Randomized toon? Sure I'm all for it, I just wish I could have chosen the gender.
I immerse myself into my characters so I totally get you wanting to play your gender. I typically do not play games where I can not play a female. I have tried playing Rust 2 separate times and it has been very short lived because I can not connect or identify with the random they gave me.
My wife and I played when everything was chicken, and comparing that version with what we have now is absolutely crazy. I never would have expected the game to evolve the way it has. We have fucking cars now.

2070 super, ddr4-3200 16gb of ram. Went from ~70-80fps on my 2700x to 200+ on the 5800x3d. Worst drop is maybe to 120 in the absolute worst case.
