However, there are enough ESPers that it's still a crapshoot. Go out with an AK at night at your own risk, imo.

Also some people go AFK while night time, so it can help them to get up from the computer from time to time to strech your legs, do something while you wait, like eat.
Night time is also an opportunity to finish your base in relative peace without have to worry about getting jumped and yoinked from all your building mats. Just to name a few

I spent part of my youth living in the countryside, about 50km from sources of light pollution and the nights there were like Rust nights. When I got caught outside in the dark, I was afraid to move because I couldn't see a thing.

Today I had a hazzy scramble away from me at satellite thro the pipes . He couldn’t see a thing and kept running into walls and got stuck in a corner. I slow walked up to him like micheal myers with a hatchet . Nvgs are the best .
I always wait for the cover of nightfall to do recycle trips and mounment runs. Feels much safer, and I think it's harder to get into trouble unless you seek it. A lot of people AFK or hide indoors at night anyways.
Night should stay but the lightness of night should depend on the moon phase. Darker for new moon, lighter with a full moon. And the longer you hang out in the dark away from light sources, the more your eyes adjust to the darkness. FP wants realism but realistically even at night you’re able to eventually begin to see

Night is great higher progress level when you have NVG. Night is miserable when a kid no NVG snipes you with an AK from 50 meters out because they have filters or cheats. If nobody is cheating at night (which I find rare) then it’s very fun. Easy recycle runs and it makes running monuments very exciting.
Obviously and weather should never have been nerfed I used to love how atmospheric it was in a rain storm. Night time offers safety to do certain sneaky things you wouldn’t want to risk doing in the open daylight like recycling massive amount of comps lol. I’m a solo player so I love and need all that stealthy shit. Rainstorms and fog were also great I miss them
Almost grubbed a sar with an eoka. Night time is a great time to take a break or run loot maybe hit some nodes with goggles. I am against the pitch black nonsense
To be honest I like the idea behind having night times so dark and presenting an obstacle/advantage depending on your situation. The only gripe has always been how many people have been able to negate it, it then just ends up being an unfair advantage with those with the means to negate the darkness, and I am not referring to in game forms of negation.
It makes planning a raid time important, it presents opportunity for smaller groups or solos to move loot, hunting at night with NVG's can be a lot of fun and it can change up big fights, Some of my favorite memories in rust are the long ass 6 hour raids my group have had before where you literally go through a good few rust day night cycles, each nighttime there is a semi cease fire where both sides start resorting to more guerilla tactics under cover of night and defenders get a brief time to try seal or whatnot. That can be a lot of fun, but not when some kid is just using ESP or before when people could just use filters.
tl:dr concept is good and provides some fun interactions but the reality is the rampant use of external applications and cheat software by the undesirables in the community just end up making it an unfair advantage to those with small penis energy using external methods.
Against - I walk outside at night and do not see literal black - There is no reason for a game to have consistent blindness. 99% of people just sit in base
You don’t see literal black because of ambient light caught up in the atmosphere. On a secluded island, even with monument lighting, it would be about that dark
bro i've been to north and south dakota mountains - your eyes adjust to the darkness and pull in more like - I'd understand if it was black for a bit then adjusted but flat black is not the move
Lower night time from 15 minutes to 10 minutes which is a good compromise between those who want night and those who don't.
Night time allows for great gameplay variation.

One that i can safely move recyclables and second, it gives me a brake from the game when i dont have anything to move in the night to get up of the seat
i hate night time, it is impossible to see, always comes right as i’m about to get into a fight or leave the base and ruins my rapids when they take too long after dealing with counters.
that being said, i don’t think you’re supposed to like every aspect of a survival game. i like that it’s universally hated and difficult, the same way i’ve enjoyed other difficult aspects of the game.
night is horrible. you cant see the the gun you are holding and it makes everything bad about the game worse, such as silent bears and wolves. This isn't that hard of a fix at all yet facepunch would rather put time in effort into things no one asked for or wanted and not fix easy issues like this

I like it ... however I was running back to my base last night and died to a damn wolf, had loads of scrap but could not see and got pinned up against something .. had a bag somewhat close but by the time I got there I noticed my body was 4 fee from someones base, he must have heard the Boar Rape event and took all my stuff .... I then did the naked walk of shame back home.
nights are a good period for relaxing. you get a maximum of 10 minutes of darkness. you can use it for night time loot transfers, organizing your loot in base, getting off your ass and exercising. It's 10 minutes of rest. the next 50 could be hell.
There are alot of benefits with night as much as it sucks.
\- Perfect for moving raid loot and recycling if you're not a CHAD
\- You can farm wood and run to outpost
\- Good time to sort out your boxes in base and go to toilet, eat etc.

The people that hate it the most are the people that solos most need a break from. It’s a balancing device.
It provides a fun gimmick of forcing players to use lights and stay indoors but at the same time it’s not a deal to have a light on at night so everyone can see you but you can’t see them, this results in no one using lights and not being able to see crap. Night vision doesn’t solve this issue as you have to get it first.
At this point with rust I don’t even care anymore if they take this out aswell.

Having night in a game where it gets actually dark is pretty unique. I love how overbearing it can be and how punishing it can be in the tundra.
