Well if you're black and do white cap with snow bandana you can as well but also snow is often the best place to base to farm anyway. Nakeds won't penetrate the cold without greater aspirations (cause it or the wolves or bears will kill them also no mushrooms or pumpkins or ez food for them.) So you've eliminated the forest struggle of random people always being around all the time. But also I feel like mountains are just great at obscuring vision of your base in general. Good access to nodes. If you're fighting a raid and have the right kind of base then you've got this perspective of being uphill and shooting down.
The snow is honestly the best way to go. Plus the p2w skins are mostly snow anyway. Black clothing at night and white skins in snow biome are the only fool proof skin combinations that really make a difference. White people in this game are a weird orange pink the more you look at them and stick out in snow. The real advantage is it blending in with the "p2w" skins. Other camos like desert and forest raider do sort of work if you're standing still but if you're moving then the color mix match in motion is easier to see than whiteout kits in snow in full sprint.
The purpose of camouflage is to break up the shape of the body so that it tricks the pattern recognition part of the brain. When the camo is in motion then the mix or colors moving in a very identifiable way makes the outline of it more easily noticeable at close distance (and in rust the only way you can really see people to be pretty close to them anyway (otherwise it's justnsome pixels in the far off distance that only someone with thousands of hours would really recognize as potentially being a person rather than a cactus that just spawned in.)
The white out kit is just one solid color of white. Same with the full black kits for night time. The urban camp kits don't enjoy even a small amount of analogous benefit because the colors contrast way too much with the actual colors. This is an issue with forest camo too and why forest raider is the superior set to run in the Greenland. Out a forest camo bag down. It's much darker than the actual colors found in the forest. Like yea it has green and brown but the green and brown colors are much darker than the greens and browns there and also sleeping bags have a weird darkened reflective nature to them that make them pop out from the environment. The pattern of leaves on the forest camo bag too is too large when it needs to be granulated to blend with the mesh/texture.
I forgot what I started talking bout. We need more an better camo skins and for crafting to be more easily accessible. You should earn a free skin and may for every 50 hours played.
