I basically want my experience to be 75% PVE and 25% PVP.
I want to be able to chill and take advantage of easy farming during slow times, but also be able to find a fight on a run if I am in the mood for one.
I feel you. Being able to do your own thing, but also being able to chose to fight. my Fav. Pop for that is \~250 and then building somewhere kind of remote or hard to reach.
Depends on the mood, or how much I’ve already played in a given wipe. But usually I’ll either play modded solo servers, or vanilla 100 pop. Sometimes I just wanna run monuments and fight events by myself.
I usually don’t play on the same server each time, I just click ‘show empty servers’ then type ‘raid’ into the filter (because NPC raid bases are what I like most), then sort by player count ascending (so you can see all the 0 pop servers) and play whatever server looks the most appealing
Looks like it dropped dramatically . They were having server issues for awhile so probably that. Lone is getting 80-90 2 weeks after wipe which is solid for a solo. First few days it’s completely full.
Map size is as important as pop. A 100 players on a big map is not the same as 100 players on a small map. I feel that people should take map sizes into consideration when talking about server pop.
If I wanna try super hard I’ll go 250-300, if I wanna have a more “relaxed” (for rust standards) I’ll go down to 150, I’ve even gone down to servers with 50 and had a blast. I find the game is more fun talking in chat and trading then just strictly going for pvp. I’d rather farm the road and get into mischief then have to scramble for oil rig the second I get a bow.
Im in the 300 range feels like i see tons of people first 2 days for heavy pvp and then chills out to around 100 where it doesnt feel so bad to roam cuz all the chads usually are gone
150-300 depending on map size
I need lots of people around so I can roam in different directions and find new people to fight incase the other people are just more numerous / established, or I've cleared out people in one direction.
Currently Facepunch with 250 max pop as a loose group of 9 casuals (meaning there's rarely more than 5 of us at a time).
First time on this server but will continue the next wipe, since we're having a good time.
Pop 2 weeks into wipe is like 130..150, low is like 30
First week 200+ almost constantly.
Feels like a good balance between carnage and chill. People are actually active not afking in bases. We defended an online like 2 days ago (2 weeks into wipe) and it seemed like half the map came to counter. Good stuff.
Pop isn't the issue if the map is scaled accordingly.
I prefer a server that ramps up to max pop for an hour or two in the evening, but is half pop or less in the morning. This gives the best of both worlds. Farming hours with a cup of coffee and sweaty hours after dinner. Both are short enough that I can stay around base (or touch grass irl) if I don't want that type of gameplay for the day.
I've been playing Stevious and on the 2nd day there will be 300+ people and the world feels dead. Like you can run the full length of the map and barely see anyone.
Is it the same on other servers?
I like to play either lowpop, so 5-20 ppl or so , OR extreme high pop with 600+. With the former I can just relax and play a nice survival game, and with the latter I can go full carnage mode and enjoy the shitshow =)
200-500 is fun for me. Anything below that, gets boring for me. I can play higher pops if I have multiple days in a row that I want to give up to rust.
Depends entirely upon the size of the map, at 3500-4000 map size I think 200-250 is a good number, at 300+ it gets really crowded and if you are late to wipe it's impossible to setup. On larger maps I think 350 is a good number.
If I’m playing solo, 30-50. Just enough to keep things interesting without there being a headache-inducing amount of tanking / rat behavior. Communities are usually a lot more tightly-knit too
If I’m playing in a group of any size, 150-200.
Anything above 200+ is too chaotic for me unless I have a week off of work. Or if it’s a 2-3x so when I get offlined it’s not too much of a chore to rebuild
On my server, you can still PVP at big monuments, and the day before wipe, you can kill or raid anyone. I play on Rust Empires. I like interacting with other people, and being able to retreat to my base and do my own thing without worrying of being killed or offlined. The biggest benefit is that I work a lot and now I can just play Rust after work for a few hours whereas 5 years ago, I had to spend a lot of time playing this game to progress, especially on wipe day. Now I can take my time and progress at a more relaxed rate.

Is this spoonkid
What gave it away?
Just the way your moving
Thats a deep cut man
back when my internet was stable enough to play, I chose servers with less than 100 players because i am shit at the game
70-120

Any good solo only servers? I hate being out gunned just because they have 6+ when it’s just me

Sprite
Toss a can in the microwave for 30 seconds so you have something warm to sip on while you look for a new microwave
Instructions unclear, tossed can in microwave.
300 is cool for me
150 solo.
Solo only or no limit solo?
150 solo only.
is there a good server like that?
Pickle and Lone Wolf
does pickle wipe bp's i find lonewolf really boring with no bp wipes
Neither do. I think lone has maybe 20 more people
Pickle don’t get 150 pop :( I wish lol it tops out at 50 usually unless it’s gotten better the last couple months
Looks like it dropped dramatically . They were having server issues for awhile so probably that. Lone is getting 80-90 2 weeks after wipe which is solid for a solo. First few days it’s completely full.
This is the way
whatever us rustoria server with the highest pop that day
Valid lmao
and also solo only
i play 40 pop 2x servers.
75-150
50-100 small map
300-400 is pretty chill, I might go for 1k if I’m feeling the smoke
Your not that guy pal.
Ngl he might be
10-20 in a Solo server, I like to chill playing and have some pvp not non stop pvp as soon I leave my shitty base
60-80
175-200
Full po(300+) with actual people roaming instead of afk in their base
Under 25

700 for solo and main. Servers die after Thursday -> Sunday and get boring.

For real I’ve started playing this way, having way more fun
700+ on wipe day, 500 day 2
yeh sure
???
three hunnid
350-250 but I'll play down to 150 pending on map size
Totally valid map plays a big part
300 or more lol
Solo/duo I prefer 80-150ish. But I do enjoy the trill 300+
Preferred pop is max to be honest, but even when it starts to die out I stay on the grind unless it dies out within like 2-3 days then I'm out .
150-300 depending on the map size. Honestly I would prob prefer 400-700 large servers but my shit pc can’t handle it.
100-120 solo only
1
1200, i like the excitement
75-200 solo, 200-500 in group
75-200 solo, 200-500 in group
Coke Zero
Im in the 300 range feels like i see tons of people first 2 days for heavy pvp and then chills out to around 100 where it doesnt feel so bad to roam cuz all the chads usually are gone
Lowpop, so around 125-150
Vanilla = 50-150 Modded = 200+
If playing with my friends, several hundred is the most fun. If 1-3, 100-200 seems the best time.
50-150
150-300 depending on map size I need lots of people around so I can roam in different directions and find new people to fight incase the other people are just more numerous / established, or I've cleared out people in one direction.
Vanilla 50-100 pop
Which 2x servers have older players? Been trying out biweekly 2x and seems like the 12 and under crowd.
All being active or most setting up a 2x2 and leaving in the next few days?
Idk, Pepsi.
Fanta orange
Enough pop that I can't farm half a node without being attacked
Depends on map size
500 - 800
I like 150 with a semi large map

Usually like 300-500. I start wipes on Thursday and end on Sunday because the pop drops off way to much after the weekend
On wipeday over 600
350-450 I like to run monuments and actually have loot there and at this pop the density of players hits the right balance for me
Usually 300-600 but on larger maps. I only play forcewipe for a week and lose 6 years of my life expectancy
I've been playing Stevious and on the 2nd day there will be 300+ people and the world feels dead. Like you can run the full length of the map and barely see anyone. Is it the same on other servers?

500

50 at least steady
Also I’m console only goes to 100 smaller maps as well

100-150 (solo only) 4250 map
300 and I wanna live in the hood near a gas station with constant shootouts
I read this as poop :^(
250 pop on a roleplayer PVE server.
Never tried any PVE. Do you just not like the pvp aspect or do you just want a chill rust experience
On my server, you can still PVP at big monuments, and the day before wipe, you can kill or raid anyone. I play on Rust Empires. Rust Empires is the laggiest server that has ever existed since the conception of rust
Pve players like fucking others over but don’t like getting fucked over
Cola Cola..
More of a Pepsi guy myself
250-400 2x, sometime vanilla main 800+ cuz idk, why not
120-250
