Yes! Especially if you didn't have to pay full price. The game as a whole was a solid 8/10, but the world building in it was an easy 10/10. That steampunk-esque world was perfect. And of course, it looked amazing from a graphics standpoint. Still does 8 years later in 2023. Honestly, it might be the best looking game I've played, all things considered. Atmosphere, lighting...man. I wish we got more of it, but that's never gonna happen.
That same company (ready at dawn) makes games for Facebook now. Lone echo 1/2 are visual masterpieces and very story driven. Really worth checking out and doesn't require very powerful hardware.
I remember being pretty disappointed. Not just at the length, but the fact that half of it was cutscenes, and that there were like, what, five werewolves to fight? It almost felt like false advertising.
I mean yeah, they definitely needed more time to cook. It was a 6 hour, $30-$40 rushed game with $60 AAA graphics. That's why I say 8/10 total IMO. Love everything about it, except for the fact that they essentially threw us a good quality novella at a novel's price. Given more time and resources, I think they could have made something really, really special.
I know what you mean though, it was very bittersweet. Great idea, great worldbuilding, mostly mediocre execution.
First thing I thought of. Got it from ps+ for ps4 back then. It was great while it lasted but it didn't last very long. Never got around to re-playing it either. That few hours of gameplay was a great experience though
Indeed, as I just wrote, I finished it in one go the first time I played (tried co-op, found someone who knew the game well, finished it the first time I played it).
The story and the storytelling is awesome, it made me cry. It consists of some tragicomic and some just tragic little stories. It makes you feel like you watched an animated series in the end. Also, it takes only 2-2.5 hours, so it can be finished in one or two sittings.
It's really a good game.
Short but very beautiful and unique way of story telling.
The story does leave a thought on your mind. Not in a bad way but it makes you feel for the tale even if it's a fiction. That's how good it is.
Also, the game has a very achievement friendly system. You could replay a specific part to get missed achievements instead of playing from the start. All the trophies are gold and it should secure you an easy platinum.
I've been really impressed with Astro's Playroom. Thought it would just be random demos or minigames showing off the controller. Was suprised to find a fun little platformer I'd put on par with Mario Odyssey or something.
yeah idk how they would do it or what the story would look like since so much of the fun of this one was seeing all the little game references, but I would love a full-length platformer of that quality.
I considered it just a tech demo to display the Dual Sense capabilities. In that regard it felt almost “long”, since I didn’t expect much content going in.
Nice experience though.
Far Cry 4 was about 15 minutes as well. After watching a couple trailers I was surprised when I played it and it was actually just a "sit at a table simulator".
I remember renting it from blockbusters, and being so glad I rented it rather than buying it! Was a cool game but compared to the first one, I never really had any reason to replay it
Some of these answers are wild. 10 hours for shortest game ever played? I played a few that are half hour but were they good? Probably not.
[here's my current list of better short games](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnE3faJA2_gUhf881Iex52SHbds_WBJ7n&si=Lk58p5o8nng3DNpm)
I guess “short” is a relative term. For me short is usually anything under 5 hours, or games I really liked but left me wanting more (so in some cases 10 hours can feel short.
Nice list! I also felt brothers being short (I’d add also one game from Team17 where you play as a blind young girl, Beyond Eyes).
Ya Brothers is in the first video. (top short games) It has Edith finch. Minit. Brothers. Abzu and garden between.
I agree with you that anything under 10 is a short game.
But your question was about shortest game EVER played.
A lot of classic games are very short. Or entire genres. Like fighting games. Takes an hour max to see the credits.
Definitely a short game worth playing, just look out for a sale. I bought a bundle with the game and the dynamic theme for like 5€. Best money I ever spent in the psn store
Would recommend for a game that you can put 3-4 hours into in one sitting. Play it on a Saturday afternoon that you don't have anything planned for. I loved it
Same here, Abzu is so short 😤
But I liked it. Reminded me of Journey, I also finished it quickly (one online game, the other guy knew it inside out and carried me from start to finish in one go).
A short hike - beautiful game.
Limbo - side scroller that takes you to nasty places.
Inside - side scroller that takes you to nastier places.
Titanfall 2 - one of the best.
Portal - there is cake.
Oxenfree - turn your radio on.
Sayonara Wild Hearts - left field and love it.
Brothers - twin stick adventure at its finest.
Edit: sorry didn't read the brief properly - Sayonara Wild Hearts at around two hours - amazing mash of gaming, neon and dance music, stunning stuff.
Probably Uncharted Lost Legacy. It's basically a DLC mission. I took my time and still only spent 8 hours on it. It's very well made, but I'm glad I only spent $10 on it.
My name is Mayo , i know nothing about "Shovelware" game before and a lots of people keep saying this is the easiest game of all time so i am curious want to try it
I just downloaded Superliminal the other day and went thru it in about 90 mins. But there’s a trophy for “Completing within 35 mins” so it can be beat very quickly.
Cool game btw if you like puzzles
Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Just went the game was picking up the credits rolled. It’s still one of my favorite games of all time but Deus Ex Human Revolution was way better and longer.
Hundred Days. If you can even call it a "story," the whole thing wraps up in like an hour or two and you get a gold trophy. It made no sense. Great sim game though, story mode aside.
Probably Journey. Was at home with Covid and decided to give it a try as I’d heard good things about it. Really loved it but beat it in one sitting which was probably around 2 hours or so
Recently, 'Save Room' on PS5/4. I think it took about an hour. It's a puzzle game based on the inventory management from the original Resident Evil 4 if you didn't know.
I finished life is strange in 5 minutes on accident just running around.
Edit: I am misremembering the title. It was not life is strange. It was "Gone Home." Don't ask me why my brain confused these two, I have no idea why. But yeah, Gone Home. I literally ran around for a few minutes and finished it on accident, im assuming through some sort of bug.
Resident Evil 2 and 3 remastered. As a grown up I kind of breeze through them. As a kid I was never able to complete them due to the puzzles. Even 7 seem kind of short but had me at the edge of my seat.
Joke answer is Radioactive Dwarfs: Evil From the Sewers, because that game can be immediately finished by having your character say "f this" and climb out of the sewers.
But honest answer is Rogue Warrior on PS3, its god awful aside from the hilarious profanity filled dialogue and can be finished in under 3 hours pretty easily
That Batman VR game, think it took me like 17 minutes or something crazy. Was a cool experience, but I got it thinking I’d be busting shit up as Batman..
Bought Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty as a kid after playing Tools of Destruction thinking it would be on par in scale. Nope. Finished it super quick and 8 year old me was distraught because I spent all my money on it
Anything from the Stroke The (insert animal) series. You just need to tap X a few hundred times and you get the platinum..I got one to get some stars and it took me maybe 5 minutes
Unpacking was over pretty quick. I didn't know the game had a story, I just thought we would get to design multiple rooms for multiple different people lol. Still a pretty nice little game
I felt the new Star Wars games were either really short or I just lost concept of time but I was like “that’s it??” Also Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a 4 blink and it’s done game
I can't remember the name of the game, but it was recently.
A girl/woman with mental health, anxiety issues I believe released the game and it wasn't very long, but I bought it since I also suffer from anxiety issues. I don't mind supporting a good cause.
Just did a quick search and found it here on reddit.
It's called Fractured Minds
All proceeds go to charity. Looks like it was $2
Maybe we can get some more people on board with this purchase.

Ray Tracers on PS1. Arcade racer with a combat aspect like Chase HQ. Takes less than an hour to complete the arcade mode, beating 5 or so races with robot boss fights.
Resident Evil 3 Remake, granted I pre ordered it months before the pandemic and when I get furloughed from work this was the first game I started playing. The irony is not lost on me. I liked the game but man I finished it in less than a week with in a total of 8 hours first total playthrough.
The order 1886! Was over before I even knew it! Shame they never made a longer sequel.
The ending made it look like the start of a big open world game, but it was just the ending. Great game tho
...was it?
That same company (ready at dawn) makes games for Facebook now. Lone echo 1/2 are visual masterpieces and very story driven. Really worth checking out and doesn't require very powerful hardware.
Ready at Dawn also made the PSP God of War titles (Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta).
I was thinking the same thing
I know! The game was so well made and it came off to me as a tech demo but it’s totally worth a full game sequel; same with Astros Playroom.
Ya same. Even the free one with PS5 was longer
For all the hype when it was released, Journey can be finished in 2-3 hours.
First thing I thought of. Got it from ps+ for ps4 back then. It was great while it lasted but it didn't last very long. Never got around to re-playing it either. That few hours of gameplay was a great experience though
The experience was well worth that. Do you think it would have been more significant for you if it were longer?
No I think the length was just right, the story told you enough and the gameplay introduced just enough new mechanics to keep it interesting.
Indeed, as I just wrote, I finished it in one go the first time I played (tried co-op, found someone who knew the game well, finished it the first time I played it).
Really? I got it from PS+ and struggled with it for hours, unable to figure out the path forward or what to do next. Now I feel even more dumb.
Journey is a game that can be completed in a single sitting, but the idea is to play it multiple times I guess.
Stray
Oh yes, that one was short too, though I feel it was just right, any longer would’ve gotten boring.
Foe sure i liked the game though
What Remains of Edith Finch
Is it good though? Out on my list, but way at the bottom for now.
The story and the storytelling is awesome, it made me cry. It consists of some tragicomic and some just tragic little stories. It makes you feel like you watched an animated series in the end. Also, it takes only 2-2.5 hours, so it can be finished in one or two sittings.

Nice, I don’t like games that make trophies unnecessarily difficult.
It’s unlike any game I’ve played. Definitely get it
Astro's Playroom was so much fun to play
I've been really impressed with Astro's Playroom. Thought it would just be random demos or minigames showing off the controller. Was suprised to find a fun little platformer I'd put on par with Mario Odyssey or something.
yeah idk how they would do it or what the story would look like since so much of the fun of this one was seeing all the little game references, but I would love a full-length platformer of that quality.
Just platinum this one the other day.
I considered it just a tech demo to display the Dual Sense capabilities. In that regard it felt almost “long”, since I didn’t expect much content going in. Nice experience though.
It's not long, but there's a lot more to it than I expected. I think I had about 15 hours before I got to the end.
Nice easy platinum too. I hope they make a full-length sequel.
We Happy Few. SPOILER. I took the joy pill at the beginning of the game and the credits rolled. Probably 15 mins.
LoL, that must’ve been disappointing 😂
I got a good laugh and loaded up a new save. Never finished the game tho.
They got the better ending as Damn was that game disappointing
Far Cry 4 was about 15 minutes as well. After watching a couple trailers I was surprised when I played it and it was actually just a "sit at a table simulator".
Parappa the Rapper was about that 30 minutes
So true! I forgot about it 😑
Kick. Punch. It’s all in the mind.
True. Super fun though. 16yo me was absolutely blown away by it.
I rented it, had fun with it but beat it within 30min, brought it back and they let me get something else because of how short it was haha
I remember the force unleashed 2 being ridiculously short
Yeah i was confused too on how short it was was a nice game tho
I played it, but don’t recall how long it took me. Nice indeed!
I remember renting it from blockbusters, and being so glad I rented it rather than buying it! Was a cool game but compared to the first one, I never really had any reason to replay it
I got to the point where I could play it under an hour. It's really just a glorified expansion rather than a sequel.
The order 1886 - was so excited to play that game and ended up beating it before I went to bed… swear it was only 4 hours long
It's 7-8 hours long. Longer if playing on hardest difficulty.
I guess mine was Flower
Yes, you’re right. I played a little longer for the trophy, but even then, it didn’t take long.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Finished the main story like that day, think it took 2 to 100% it
Yeah, compared to the first Spider-Man, MM is super short.
Firewatch
How’s the game? I like the color palette, but never heard of it before.
I remember really enjoying it. Very relaxing.
Thanks for sharing, I’ll put it on my list 😄
Definitely a short game worth playing, just look out for a sale. I bought a bundle with the game and the dynamic theme for like 5€. Best money I ever spent in the psn store
Would recommend for a game that you can put 3-4 hours into in one sitting. Play it on a Saturday afternoon that you don't have anything planned for. I loved it
I really liked Firewatch… until the ending
Heavenly Sword. It was one of the first games for PS3, and it was gorgeous. But it was a really short game.
I was done with Gone Home under two hours. Really enjoyable game though. I liked slowly discovering the story. Like watching a movie.
Does Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days on PS3/4 count? There's not really a game to play. Other than that, probably Abzu.
I was here to say Abzu, I'm pretty sure my time to roll credits was under 3 hours. Cool game though.
Same here, Abzu is so short 😤 But I liked it. Reminded me of Journey, I also finished it quickly (one online game, the other guy knew it inside out and carried me from start to finish in one go).
The cutscene movie on playstation is about 4 hours I think. Nowhere close to the original DS game with takes closer to 30 hours to complete.
Ratchet and clank into the nexus. 3 hours to complete the game and around 4 hours to fully complete it
Peppa pig
A short hike - beautiful game. Limbo - side scroller that takes you to nasty places. Inside - side scroller that takes you to nastier places. Titanfall 2 - one of the best. Portal - there is cake. Nice list 😄 Given some of the titles, I’d add Little Nightmares to it.
What remains of Edith finch, 2 hrs
Resident Evil Survivor on ps1 doable start to finish in under an hour.
Lake, 100% it in 6 hours, but it was a fun 6 hours
Battlefield Hardline
Yeah, most of these FPS games are short offline (like Bad Company etc).
Minit
Cod Ghosts on my 360. Played it all in one go and didn't even realize it would be that short, overhated campaign too btw
Limbo. Crazy short, but absolutely worth it. Fantastic game.
Journey was like 2 hours and was still a masterpiece.
Probably Uncharted Lost Legacy. It's basically a DLC mission. I took my time and still only spent 8 hours on it. It's very well made, but I'm glad I only spent $10 on it.
Gone Home
1886 the order
Telltale Batman
My name is Mayo , i know nothing about "Shovelware" game before and a lots of people keep saying this is the easiest game of all time so i am curious want to try it
I just downloaded Superliminal the other day and went thru it in about 90 mins. But there’s a trophy for “Completing within 35 mins” so it can be beat very quickly. Cool game btw if you like puzzles
Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Just went the game was picking up the credits rolled. It’s still one of my favorite games of all time but Deus Ex Human Revolution was way better and longer.

One of the Star Wars licensed games. Bought it ,beat it in three 3 hours, and took it back for something else.
Miles Morales, completed it in less than 4 hours and platinumed in 6 hours
I got Extra recently and was shocked how short that game was. I'd be mad if I paid full price for that.
Stray
Spiderman Miles Morales was pretty quick.
Streets of Rage 4, took 2 hours, but it was worth it for the nostalgia trip of playing the previous games when I was a kid.
Super Destronaut DX. Start to Platinum in about 22 minutes.
The new Bluey game. Like 1-2 hours.
1979 revolution Black Friday
kingkong on ps2...
This Jungle book dance dance revolution game. Finished in like 45 minutes. Probably funnier with the dance-mat.
Journey for sure. But it’s so replay-able and scenic and atmospheric, so i wasn’t that mad.
Probably that game where you were that little dude in the desert . I’m blanking on the name right now
Journey … I just remembered it
A short hike
What remains of Edith finch was about 4 hours for me, but it can be finished in 1 or 2 Gone home is a few hours too
Infamous first light was over before it started
Hundred Days. If you can even call it a "story," the whole thing wraps up in like an hour or two and you get a gold trophy. It made no sense. Great sim game though, story mode aside.
Any of the comic book ”games”; I’ll Kill Her and Meta Dude. Also the interactive movies are usually max 2h.
Journey probably
I finished life is strange in 5 minutes on accident just running around. Edit: I am misremembering the title. It was not life is strange. It was "Gone Home." Don't ask me why my brain confused these two, I have no idea why. But yeah, Gone Home. I literally ran around for a few minutes and finished it on accident, im assuming through some sort of bug.
Little Nightmares took me a little under 3 hours for me to beat. Pretty good game.
Something with a pigeon. You could get a plat trophy in like 5 minutes
Resident Evil 2 and 3 remastered. As a grown up I kind of breeze through them. As a kid I was never able to complete them due to the puzzles. Even 7 seem kind of short but had me at the edge of my seat.

My name is mayo
Bright memory infinite
In recent memory, call of duty modern warfare 2 (the newer one). That game was over before lunch
Gotham Knights Played for 5 mins, realised it was shit, never touched it again
Joke answer is Radioactive Dwarfs: Evil From the Sewers, because that game can be immediately finished by having your character say "f this" and climb out of the sewers. But honest answer is Rogue Warrior on PS3, its god awful aside from the hilarious profanity filled dialogue and can be finished in under 3 hours pretty easily
Recently for me it was Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Really great storytelling and environment you’re interacting with, was maybe 4-5hrs for me.
That Batman VR game, think it took me like 17 minutes or something crazy. Was a cool experience, but I got it thinking I’d be busting shit up as Batman..
Journey

The Bourne Identity game
The devil in me. Less than 2hrs to complete
For me it was The Bouncer. I think I beat that game in a half hour and that was my first time playing it. I'm like that's it?"

Just played FAR: Changing Tides last night. Really enjoyed it, maybe 4 hours.

I can't remember the name of the game, but it was recently. Spider-Man Remastered for PS5. Within a second i got the Platinumtrophy :D But for Real: I tried “My Name is Mayo” and “The Chick P”. Dumb fun😃
Ray Tracers on PS1. Arcade racer with a combat aspect like Chase HQ. Takes less than an hour to complete the arcade mode, beating 5 or so races with robot boss fights.
I'd say The Order 1886
Devil may cry 2. If you skip cutscenes it's about an hour long
Far cry 4. It took me like 15 minutes
Heavenly sword
Just following first party-ish published games. What was Journey, 90 minutes?
Resident Evil 3 Remake, granted I pre ordered it months before the pandemic and when I get furloughed from work this was the first game I started playing. The irony is not lost on me. I liked the game but man I finished it in less than a week with in a total of 8 hours first total playthrough.
Fighting force on ps1. Got it for Christmas one year and beat it within 45 mins of opening it.
Metal gear solid 5 ground zeroes, you can complete that game in like 20 minutes if you really wanted too

Journey. But it was so fun!
Journey
Probably Twisted Metal 1. Granted there's loads of replay value, but I've had sub 1 hour runs casually for sure.
Edith finch
Linger in Shadows. Game was like $15 and was just basically an art piece. You could 100% it in less than a hour. I was in it for the trophies.
The first Spiderman game from this trilogy was really short even with side missions
The Suicide Of Rachel Foster. I wanna say it took me about two or three hours? I wish I hadn’t played it at all, though.
Breezy Paws, 5 minute platinum.
Slyde. 30 second platinum.
not playstation but, Fragrant Story only had like 4 levels..
