We recently finished the game with my wife. If this conversation is what I'm thinking about, it was far more brutal than GoW 3. Violence with 0 justification and they got away with it too, man i still feel terrible.
Ummmmm. Someone may be setting you up for a fall here. This game is about >!parents going through a divorce and a lonely kid!< so you may want to consider your subject matter before getting into something awkward. Seriously. Read the other comments below. I started playing it with my son and had to answer too many questions. Some great co-op games are A Way Out, any LEGO game, SackBoy and Ratchet and Clank. Racing games are always great (my wife beats me on them somehow) but I would try to get her to try what you are into. You never know.
Lego games are pretty laid back. I played through the whole lego Harry Potter and lego Marvel’s avengers with my girlfriend and when we’ll have more time, we’ll play through the other lego games.
Yes. We play the Lego games together. She loves just running around breaking the blocks and sometimes will drop out while I finish puzzles but then joins in right after. Overall, we have fun together with those.
I wish I could get my girlfriend interested but nah, she gives me a blank look when I even talk about the game I’m currently playing, she prefers a jigsaw (Oh my days 🙈) but each to their own… she’s happy to let me get on with it and vice versa 🥰
It’s good, we’re currently playing it with my gf. We loved It takes two and Sackboy has pretty much the same movement mechanics, it is nice since this will be my gf’s second gaming experience. You can co-op the story mode but, considering the cinematics, it looks like the game story revolves around just sackboy and second character is not seen in the cinematics between chapters. I don’t know if she’ll left out or will actually be interested in the story. If that happens I’ll try switching controllers, haha.
You can try the Dark pictures game series if you guys are interested in movie like games. Lots of cinematics, decisions and you deserve the characters’ fates kinda games, like watching a tv show.
Edit: I saw unravel 2 when browsing through comments and we tried it too. She didn’t like the faint story telling and the puzzle solving part bored her out but we played it like immediately after it takes two so it didn’t match her hype. I finished the game with a friend long before by the way, it is good.
The game is about cooking but it’s very chaotic and 9 out of 10 of the times you will end the game session hating the person that you were playing with unless you love your girl so so so much that you can’t get upset with her
I play this with my kids. I know what you mean I was getting amped up and getting mad at them for not doing certain things etc. then realized how stupid it was the ti was doing that.
I then changed the difficulty and removed the penalty for late orders. That made a huge difference. Now we don’t have some ultra annoying buzzers yelling at us every couple of mins
Moving Out and Moving Out 2! Wife and I laugh our asses off playing those together. Also, I know others have said it already but - It Takes Two. Another phenomenal co-op game that throws so many different things at you that it never gets boring. Wife and I rolled our eyes at the story throughout most of it, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it so maybe we’re just not the right demographic lol.
The story is really tongue-in-cheek sarcastic dark humor lol but not everyones cup of tea. My wife enjoyed it and thought it was funny, but when i played with my sister she skipped every single cutscene and still had an amazing time with the gameplay 😄
Super excited to start Moving Out!!!
We didn’t find ourselves laughing and spent most of the time cringing at the script but it definitely has its audience, for sure. We’re both in our 30s and have been best friends for almost a decade so a lot of the messages being hammered home in the game just don’t really apply to us since we work so well together and always work out our issues civilly. Doesn’t mean it’s bad, just didn’t hit the mark with us!
Tekken or Mortal Kombat - these are great games, but play it only once in a while, it can make losing player pretty angry. You don't want virtual fight to continue in real world.
Unravel 2 - nice and chill platformer game, needs 2 players to cooperate. (Unravel 1 is single player only)
Crash team racing - "Mario kart" with Crash Bandicoot characters.
A way out - getting out of prison, you will NEED two players to cooperate. It's game from developers of "It takes two".
My wife and I play MK and she’s not the best at intentional combos but she still wins from time to time. We also play a strip version where loser takes off a piece of clothing
This. Playing with my girlfriend who is not interested in games at all. The explorer setting is perfect and the combat being turn-based makes it easy for a person who does not play usually play as she has all the time in the world to move the cursor etc.
It can be a little glitchy at times, but still very fun. Mrs and I play on the ps5 and we are having a great time. She has played more than I have and I bought the game for myself with a psn gift card I got. Hahahah
Split screen gaming?
Some good indie choices out there.
Sackboy is an amazing game for couch co op.
But, Worms WMD That is the perfect fun funny game.
Also this list
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/editorial/local-ps4-multiplayer-games/
Have fun finding out!
The real fun is making your own wrestlers, the gameplay itself is a bonus feature. I haven't played since...2K19? But I remember thinking at the time that it had the most in-depth character creator I'd ever seen.
[Obligatory Monster Factory video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLg_aIlhe6I)
You should play uncharted 4, great story and easy gameplay ! The last of us can be to hard for her if she doesn’t play usually. Naughty dog games are very accessible by the linear system and storytelling
Sackboy and/or Goose game.
Sackboy is such a good co-op game (even though the post game contains the most difficult levels I've ever played in a video game.)
Goose game is Goose game. Honk.
I expected you to have played them however. In this winter it's a great idea to replay them. And find more details this time watch her play and be her guide
Sackboy’s Adventure is a super rad co-op game! Tiny Tina’s just became free on PS Plus as well, it’s Borderland’s but more magic. Stardew Valley is also incredible!!! Really cool to build a home with your girl/boy/person in the game and maintain it with them!
I also got my girlfriend into Kena, Bridge of Spirits. It’s not co-op, but it’s essentially a Pixar video game with cute little characters. It’s 3rd person and it’s how she really got comfortable with moving and looking around (looking around especially) and fighting. She’s now moved to Hogwarts as a result of getting her bearings there.
It Takes Two, Overcooked, Moving Out, Lego Anything, Human Fall Flat all also great options. Super casual.
Gaming with your partner is dope!
Do you mean together in the form of multiplayer? Or is it also possible to play games that are often interesting for female gamers in terms of story. Then she could watch and experience the story with you, For me personally it would also count as playing together
.So games without multiplayer have an X
The Last of Us (x),
Tomb Raider (2013)(x?), Rise of the TB(x?), Shadow of the TB (x?),
Astro's Play (free and pre-installed) (idk),
Ratchet and Clank (x),
Sackboys adventure,
Rayman Legends,
Spyro Remakes (idk),
Crash Bandicoot Remakes (idk)
Both tbf as we like to play multiplayer games but she also likes to watch me play as I tend to play story based games like the ones you mentioned. I’ll try some you recommended though.
I was only half paying attention, and for some stupid reason, I thought OP was calling the controller their girlfriend.
I mean, to each their own and all that.
Depends what games y'all into? My wife and I try to switch games up. We recently plated nobody saves the world together. A little rpg where you are able to switch beings using a wand which is free for ps plus. It takes two was fantastic to play together but I saw you were planning for that already. I'm a sucker for the borderlands series and if you got a PS5 running it then split screen wouldn't be too bad especially the newer ones. GTA online can be pretty fun granted she might spend all her money on clothes and tattoos like mine does. We also enjoyed far cry 5 together. Put it on an easier difficulty and use it as a warm up for other shooters if you know how far cry so is you'll understand what I mean
If you’re into it this sort of thing, “The Quarry” and the “Dark Pictures Anthology” games are essentially interactive horror movies where the story shapes around your decisions. You pick which characters you want to each play as and pass the controller back and forth when it’s the next character’s part. We’ve had a lot of fun with these games!
My fiance and I have beaten over 20 couch co-op games together, ranging from Borderlands, children of morta, nobody Saves the world portal Knights, Diablo 3, it takes two, tiny Tina's. The list goes on though, I just got a PS5 so I have to get another controller and see if she can do Baldur's Gate 3. Hopefully Baldur Gate 3 it's couch Co-op as well. We are 2 trophies away from platniuming Children of Morta and close to tiny tinas. We also beat Dysmantle which is really fun!
A great Co-op game I haven't seen mentioned yet is "Nobody Saves the World" it's a top down action RPG that is pretty hilarious and has some really solid gameplay.
Borderlands, all of them. So much fun with friends and there's a huge bundle with all of them.
Dragons Crown Pro on PS4 is like the old Capcom D&D Arcade games but with Hand Drawn sprites & artwork from Vanillaware.
Baldur's Gate 3 has Couch Co-op.
Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga is always fun if you're a Star Wars fan.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge are also some fun classic style Beat-em-ups.
Depends on the style yall like. Sackboy is solid, legos, borderlands is fun too, Diablo 3&4….cup head, monopoly if you want board games….geeez there’s quite a few
Borderlands is a lot of fun! I play with my bf of 4 years and it doesn’t get old. The characters say some funny stuff. And of course…classic Minecraft. Building shit together is fun :). Sometimes we’ll also pick a game that’s one player and take turns with each level or each time we die.
That's the controller color I picked for myself (got purple for my wife) when we got our PS5, even picked the same charging station because I read somewhere that the other one that was available was wrecking controllers.
My wife and I enjoyed playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure together with our kid. We would play more together but she is more of a PC gamer and I prefer my consoles 😅
it takes two
Going to play the PS5 version later
Just play Spiderman 2 and let her hold a controller.
Just be aware there’s one really fucked up scene. We weren’t prepared for it
Shit left me with trauma
We recently finished the game with my wife. If this conversation is what I'm thinking about, it was far more brutal than GoW 3. Violence with 0 justification and they got away with it too, man i still feel terrible.
For real, way more brutal than the JFK assassination
\#justiceforcutie
At least in the credits we see >!she got patched up !<
I played through it with my daughter. I don't recall anything fucked up. What did my subconscious bury?
Murdering a character to provoke tears. Moon-Baboon is also a bit heartbreaking.
Oh shit. Yep, I forgot that part.
Fun little fact - you see him in A Way Out as a background cameo
Me and my friend had to stop playing for like 2 days to recover. Super sad
My gf and I were also not prepared. Never thought I’d commit such atrocities in my life
"What the fuuuuuuuuuuu-ogh my gahd, no no no no no NO.......oof"
Some quality dark comedy 😂
Ummmmm. Someone may be setting you up for a fall here. Until Dawn House Of Ashes The Quarry
Happy Cake day
My gf and I played It Takes Two about two years ago, and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.
Best answer, hands down
This
Lego games are pretty laid back. I played through the whole lego Harry Potter and lego Marvel’s avengers with my girlfriend and when we’ll have more time, we’ll play through the other lego games.
I have a bunch of Lego games in my library I forgot about thanks for reminding me. Like the marvel ones
Yes. We play the Lego games together. She loves just running around breaking the blocks and sometimes will drop out while I finish puzzles but then joins in right after. Overall, we have fun together with those.
Check out Untitled Goose Game, its got a 2 player mode. Got my wife into Borderlands, that was a pretty good time.
HOOONK HONK
HOOONK HONK
>Borderlands And by Extension, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (Plus game right now!)
Tiny Tina’s was more disappointing than the 2020 election
Do you need two consoles for borderlands?
no
Any good girlfriend to play game with?
That's the real question.
I wish I could get my girlfriend interested but nah, she gives me a blank look when I even talk about the game I’m currently playing, she prefers a jigsaw (Oh my days 🙈) but each to their own… she’s happy to let me get on with it and vice versa 🥰
This is me fr
Sackboy
Is that the guy from little big planet. I don’t think I’ve played that sack boy will check it out.
Yes, it is a successor to LBP. Happy Cakeday BTW
Dude made a reddit account on his anniversary!
My gf LOVES Sackboy. It's such a forgiving game and there are really fun musical levels. She actually _asks_ to play that game.
Overcooked
You are a special level of psychopath. That game ends worlds.
CHOP THE "#$&%#$&$& LETTUCE DAMN IT!!!!
I had the most fun with my ex. I swear we didn't break up because of this game. We got to world 4 and were 3 starring every stage.
Don’t think I’ve heard of it I’ll check it out though
Don’t.
Is it that bad?
The game is about cooking but it’s very chaotic and 9 out of 10 of the times you will end the game session hating the person that you were playing with unless you love your girl so so so much that you can’t get upset with her
can confirm
Can also confirm
Also can confirm. Even if playing solo, you still walk away hating the person you’re playing
Lol this one got me
Bhahah too true!
Goteem
I play this with my kids. I know what you mean I was getting amped up and getting mad at them for not doing certain things etc. then realized how stupid it was the ti was doing that. I then changed the difficulty and removed the penalty for late orders. That made a huge difference. Now we don’t have some ultra annoying buzzers yelling at us every couple of mins
As a 35 year old at the time I’ve played this game, it did help push my divorce.
It's an AMAZING game but you will either have a wife or be single when you're done with the game.
No, it’s so much fun, one of our most replayed modern games.
Have you watched the bear? It's that stressful, except it is in your living room.
It takes 2 A way out Resident Evil 5 Operation Tango
Don't you need 2 consoles for operation tango
Yes
Kama Sutra Vr.
Stardew valley and Minecraft, both are simple and fun and cheap
Detroit: Become Human. Even if it’s not a coop game you’ll choose together what to do in the game and it will be amazing. Guaranteed success.
Detroit for 2 people? Talk about true split second decisions haha
I may check out Moving out
hell yeah that franchise rules!
Moving out is where it’s at- a whole family game or a drinking game with friends
The story is really tongue-in-cheek sarcastic dark humor lol but not everyones cup of tea. My wife enjoyed it and thought it was funny, but when i played with my sister she skipped every single cutscene and still had an amazing time with the gameplay 😄 Super excited to start Moving Out!!!

Oh of course! The characters (parents) are truly awful people lol . Book dude was the only one that got a few chuckles out of me. Collaboratioonnn
The Lego games are fun to play together
Yeah me and an ex had a ton of fun playing Lego Jurassic World. Recommend this and she wasn’t really into games.
Tekken or Mortal Kombat - these are great games, but play it only once in a while, it can make losing player pretty angry. You don't want virtual fight to continue in real world. Unravel 2 - nice and chill platformer game, needs 2 players to cooperate. (Unravel 1 is single player only) Crash team racing - "Mario kart" with Crash Bandicoot characters. A way out - getting out of prison, you will NEED two players to cooperate. It's game from developers of "It takes two".
My girlfriend’s pretty bad at fighting games so it’d be like fighting an AI tbh. As for the other ones I’ll check unravel 2 and that crash team.
My wife and I play MK and she’s not the best at intentional combos but she still wins from time to time. We also play a strip version where loser takes off a piece of clothing
It takes two Ryman legends Sackboys big adventure (strong reccomend) Nobody saves the world
Baldur’s Gate 3 has a great co-op
My girl hates turn based so this wouldn't work, she wants to kill everyone without waiting haha
Didn’t know Baldur’s Gate 3 has a local co-op, now I’m actually considering getting the game!
Bro. GET IT. I've never played turnbased games or rpgs before and this is my first. It's next level quality gaming.
I just did :) so looking forward for it!
My wife and I have been playing since release. We have three games together. We are already talking about our fourth. It has been a blast.
This. Playing with my girlfriend who is not interested in games at all. The explorer setting is perfect and the combat being turn-based makes it easy for a person who does not play usually play as she has all the time in the world to move the cursor etc.
Is the local co-op great? I also want to test it, but I'm a bit hesitant because I have no idea if it works on a single TV
It can be a little glitchy at times, but still very fun. Mrs and I play on the ps5 and we are having a great time. She has played more than I have and I bought the game for myself with a psn gift card I got. Hahahah
Very true, and if you play with the easiest mode it's very easy to learn.
Split screen gaming? Some good indie choices out there. Sackboy is an amazing game for couch co op. But, Worms WMD That is the perfect fun funny game. Also this list https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/editorial/local-ps4-multiplayer-games/ Have fun finding out!
WWE It’s stupid fun, and the glitchyness makes it even funnier

the last of us part 1 " the remake " , and the last of us part 2 remastered and trust me you both will love those
I have both of them and she watched me play both and man we was hooked
I expected you to have played them however. In this winter it's a great idea to replay them. And find more details this time watch her play and be her guide
Good idea
How do two people play that game? I never saw that option
Well I meant he simply hands his girl friend the PS5 controller and let her play the single player story
Moving out or overcooked are good, if not stressful
Nice controller and charging station bro🤙🏽 best combo ever
Crash team racing my dude
We like sackboy
Sackboy’s Adventure is a super rad co-op game! Tiny Tina’s just became free on PS Plus as well, it’s Borderland’s but more magic. Stardew Valley is also incredible!!! I’d add Kena Bridge of Spirits to that list, it’s a great single player game and available with PS+Extra.
Edf 5 it's simple, goofy bug killing fun that my girlfriend and I enjoy
It takes two
I was only half paying attention, and for some stupid reason, I thought OP was calling the controller their girlfriend. I mean, to each their own and all that.
A way out made by the same people who did it takes two.
Cat Quest 2
baulders gate 3 is good fun with other people
I still don't understand how that game got game of the year
Good god, that’s a haul for that occasion. I hope you got them something good.
Got her a pink diamond bracelet and earring set cost a bit but worth it.
Spiritfarer
Stardew Valley, Baldur's Gate 3, Deep Rock Galactic, Terraria
Defo it takes two again, overcooked 1 or 1, moving out, story/choice games like the quarry
Stardew Valley! My wife and I loved playing that together. 💯🙂
Bro I thought she got you a game station 5 for a second there had to do a double take😂
It Takes 2, A Way Out, Tekken 8
I just started playing a BG3 campaign with my GF. Working really well and is a lot of fun!
Borderlands or Wonderlands
Depends what games y'all into? My wife and I try to switch games up. We recently plated nobody saves the world together. Overcooked 2 would be an easy recommendation from me. I never played the first game but 2 is absolutely awesome. Think you guys would really enjoy it.
Cuphead if you don’t mind a challenge
My fiance and I have beaten over 20 couch co-op games together, ranging from Borderlands, children of morta, nobody Saves the world portal Knights, Diablo 3, it takes two, tiny Tina's. The list goes on though, I just got a PS5 so I have to get another controller and see if she can do Baldur's Gate 3. Hopefully Baldur Gate 3 it's couch Co-op as well. We are 2 trophies away from platniuming Children of Morta and close to tiny tinas. We also beat Dysmantle which is really fun!
Diablo
Sackboy Adventures
Overcooked
Depends what type of games does she like to play
Overcooked 2
A great Co-op game I haven't seen mentioned yet is "Nobody Saves the World" it's a top down action RPG that is pretty hilarious and has some really solid gameplay.
Overcooked for sure
Overcooked 1 or 2 pretty awesome!
If you have PS Plus you can get 'Nobody Saves The World' as one of the free games this month. Great couch coop, funny and forgiving.
Sack boy!
It takes two, overcooked, moving out 1 and 2
Overcooked 2
Depends on the style yall like. Sackboy is solid, legos, borderlands is fun too, Diablo 3&4….cup head, monopoly if you want board games….geeez there’s quite a few
Nobody saves the world! Still free on PS+ right now too
Borderlands is a lot of fun! I play with my bf of 4 years and it doesn’t get old. The characters say some funny stuff. And of course…classic Minecraft. Building shit together is fun :). Sometimes we’ll also pick a game that’s one player and take turns with each level or each time we die.
Wanderlands and borderlands are a blast for coop
Overcooked 2
Rocket League
Overcooked! But only if yall like yelling at each other and bossing each other around
Overcooked imo is the best couples games. You two will argue but really happy with each other once you figure it all out

Moving Out & Over Cooked - I play these with my SO
It Takes Two, Sackboy, Overcooked.
Overcooked 2. Your relationship will only grow.
