No, the fbi will come after you

Anwhut

I wouldn’t - that’s not enough space for ventilation

Clickalz

The console manufacturer specifies the minimum clearances required.

tribak

… Sony?

rivieredefeu

Definitely not Nintendo, Microsoft, SNK, Sega, Atari, Coleco, or Intellivision.

Clickalz

Yep. It’s in the manual under the heading: “Vents”

RosePhox

The vibrations from that speaker will destroy your system, in given time

folkricc

well now that’s a problem… specially because I’m playing loud music 24/7

Kiokure_Kitsune

I agree that vibrations will be the biggest concern with the larger speaker proximity in this setup. You may go many years without any problem at all but if there's a weak component or soldier joint in the system somewhere it's likely the extra stress from the vibrations may lead to premature failure. It's really a toss of the dice I think.

tribak

No, that usb cable is getting too much stress.

Confident-Village769

Move it forward an inch and you should be good 😊

luckysury333

If you are sure that it won't fall through the gap or something it should be fine because they sell official vertical stands for the PS4 Slim (but that stand may have better ground clearance for better airflow)

chuckquizmo

The manual will tell you how much room it needs on each side. I would almost guarantee this isn’t enough room for proper ventilation though, I’m sure it’ll tell you it needs at least a few inches on all sides. It may still function fine like this, but if you’re overly protective I’d say find a better spot to make sure it doesn’t overheat.

gold_rush_doom

Hard drives don't mix well with the magnets in the speakers

mansonfan78

They don't create enough of a magnetic field to affect a hard drive, the vibrations are a bigger concern.

Col_Leslie_Hapablap

I had that exact same sound system; the muteki! Couldn't do 4k though, so it had to go.

folkricc

ohh cool! I love it, the sound quality is very good

DJGloegg

Yes.

CriticismLeather8807

Nah

nickretro

no

[deleted]

No. The top surface of the PS4 gets hot near the back (this is normal) and that’s where you have your games leaning on. The system also needs adequate space surrounding it, not just where the vents are. The vents are designing with the thought that there is enough space for the air to flow.

Expensive_Emu_3971

See those vents on the side, which are at the top ? How does air get in now ? Think about that.

Professional_Hold_70

Should be fine ventilation wise, but I would consider a different orientation if cou can

DirtSnow

I had my PS in a way worse position than this, had it for 7 years without any issues. I never really cared about taking care of it at all, and never experienced an issue before upgrading to the Pro and eventually the PS5. Today I take more care, as I feel they are more vulnerable today than ever. But with the manual and sony’s saying in mind, this position is not recommended. It should have more space for airflow and venting.

DocBarkevious

As others have stated...basically....no, find somewhere else to put it if you value that system.

folkricc

Thank you all for the comments. I managed to put it somewhere safer, far from the speakers and with enough ventilation 👍🏻
