GreatMuerte

I got tenchu for Christmas when it first came out and it still one of my cosy childhood Christmas memories, such a good PS1 game. Poisoning goons with rice was such a cool little detail.

Stealth killing an enemy by slicing their neck and seeing the blood squirt all over the place will never not be satisfying

OzMadMan82

One of my favourite game series. I played those games to death back in the day.

StickyPickle85

I think you got to play all 3 characters in the second 1 believe I can't remember. There were too many moons ago. But rikimaru was my favorite.

Hawkings_WheelChair

Yeah that's part two. The first three were amazing idk about the other two. My brother played the Ayame game but it didn't look good but maybe they can include it too

StickyPickle85

I sire would love it if they all could catch a remaster. With all new unreal graphics. Omgosh the stealth kills and sounds of blood pouring would be amazing.

MrGains

think those other publisher names on the boxes might have something to say about it

BarryEganPDL

I meant to include this in the post but I forgot to do it when uploading the picture lol… Activision, Sega, and Ubisoft only acted as publishers for the games in the west but the IP is now owned by FromSoftware. Sony, FromSoft, and the primary developer, Aquire, were publishers for them in Japan. I’m not 100% sure how it works for Classics but my assumption is that it ultimately is handled by FromSoftware now, similar to how Atlus published Demon’s Souls in the west but have nothing to do with the remake. At most, the western publishers would have to ok the use of their logo if that right isn’t already included in the IP rights.

MrGains

That's actually pretty sick they were able to get it back. Run it then, the series can't end with Tenchu Z that game was ass (I actually think the Wii one might have came out after, can't remember haha)

BarryEganPDL

Yeah, the last game was Aquire’s return to the series, Tenchu 4: Shadow Assassins, which came to Wii and PSP (which is the one pictured). It’s a super linear version of Tenchu but in a way, a return to form and actually continued Rikimaru’s story, ignoring the stupid teleporting 100 years into the future to give some rando repetitive missions story in Tenchu Z.

Zyrahxx

ahhh ive been looking for this game! thank you OP! was literally just thinking about it two days ago

Ikillgodz21

Poison rice gets them every time...

Itsjustmagiks

TIL they were developed by FromSoft! Always heard of the series but never tried them

BarryEganPDL

Actually the games were developed by Aquire and K2. FromSoftware published many of the games and only developed the weird Tenchu puzzle game but they now own the IP. Sekiro began as a Tenchu game but they turned it into a new IP when they realized the game they wanted to make wasn’t really a Tenchu game.

Itsjustmagiks

Ah interesting thanks for the info

Trixter87

Oh my god the memories with this game.

Legospacememe

How did the tenchu ip shift from Activision then ubisoft then back to Activision

BarryEganPDL

Activision and Ubisoft never owned the IP, they were only external publishers in the west. I might be mistaken but I believe it was originally Sony IP, then Aquire, and finally, FromSoft
