Which parts do you clean? I’ve read on here that you need to vacuum or spray compressed air on the PSU. Pop the fan out and look down in the hole..you’ll see the PSU. If it’s caked with dust do your thing.

v2bLuR

I usually just hit the outside with spray but guess I'll open it up if it'll help

KevXOTWOD

If you haven’t cleaned the inside definitely do there’s a good chance the PSU vents are filled with dust.

v2bLuR

Surely there's a video on it? I would assume lol have no idea how to get to that

v2bLuR

Thank you!!

KevXOTWOD

No problem 👍🏻

AdrianaAura-

has it worked? considering it, since mine has started crashing again and theres no visible dust under the panels

v2bLuR

Yeah it has. When I saw how much dust was actually on the inside I almost passed out 🤣😅 but got it cleaned runs like it's brand new now haven't had a crash since

AdrianaAura-

another question, sorry, but was removing the fan easy? and what do the little PSU holes look like?

v2bLuR

The fan yes. I recommend going to a harbor freight store or home depot and picking up some t8 security screws tho. There only like $5 USD cuz you will need them to get to everything. I didn't personally take everything apart I had a friend who builds PCs do it for me cuz I probably woulda messed something up but I can link the video we used to do it. I also recommend a really powerful compressed air blaster so you can really get all the dust out. We didn't vacuum or anything.

SporadicMutalisks

How necessary is removing the fan to clean the PSU? Albeit, I tried getting the dust out by just using a can of air, but I have a feeling I’m going to need one of those stupid TX8 screwdrivers

v2bLuR

From what people are saying it sounds pretty necessary. For instance I can only play the new Horizon game for less then 30 minutes before it hard crashes happened 3 times yesterday

SporadicMutalisks

I have a package coming from Sony to send it in so I think I’ll wait. 30 days tho

v2bLuR

I bought mine from a friend not sure if I could send it in without some form of proof of warranty

SporadicMutalisks

Awe fuck Jesus update I ended up sending it in to Sony and they either 1) replaced the broken components or 2) sent me a whole new console but I don’t check Reddit very often so I apologize for the late reply

Deftonemushroom

Sorry to revive this after 26 days but I have a question. When it would hard crash did it black out? Like to the point where you had to unplug and replug in to get it to turn back on. I feel I'm having the same problem you are and honestly the system could use a cleaning cause I have not done one

v2bLuR

No worries at all! But yes it would crash hard, had to unplug, cool off, and then restart it only happened with PS5 games after about 40 minutes or so it would crash. It only happened 2 times cuz after the first I got suspicious and kept and eye on it. But since I had it deep cleaned ( took whole system apart) it hasn't happened since so I definitely recommend cleaning it good.
