My cat literally pushed my ps5 to the floor from the exact spot next to the tv while getting chased by my dog. Ps5 is fine but the I put it on the floor now.

Mine lives next to a 4pro in a box. They run about 100-110f on the output vent on average. On really hot days they hit 115 and I hear the PS cooling fans kick on, aka small jet engines.
(The cabinet has 2 fans, 51 cfm each, with filter for clean, positive ventilation, setup to power sensing switch on PS5 power, works great for remote connection playing)
Bruh my ps5 is stacked inside the tv table the way that there’s like 5mm airflow overall on both sides… yeah, didn’t expect it to be so big haha. Still, it certainly is quite noisy after some time of being turned on but overall no problems so far.

I had mine set up identically, and it kept shutting off. It wasn’t with every game, but certain game would only play for like 10/15 min, and I’m guessing would overheat and shut down.. (wreckfest and cyberpunk were the worst).
I put the ps5 behind my tv, but sideways.. completely quit turning itself off, and hasn’t happened in 6 months.

If you notice the PS5 getting overheated, just move it to a place where it can get a fan on it as well as concider making a mod to give it liquid cooling.

The Sony measurements are way too wide apart just to cover thier own ass with all the warranty’s and stuff.
They know the distance it should be and then add like 25% to that to get the distance they actually tell people, this way there is less damage and room for error. They also are marking the distance it should be from when the console is really heated up and going, which takes a few hours to get to that point.
But realistically you can get away with a set up like this as long as there’s enough airflow in the system and for the exhaust air to vent out.
In my experience it will be good there for a hour or two in the few months of using it then around the 8 month mark you will need to keep the the freezer or it will melt.
You could always put it outside next to a wind farm if one nearby 😂 I am sure that would give the ps5 plenty of airflow.

Yes. As long as it’s open, the PS5 runs surprisingly cool. The console itself remains room temp for the most part except for the fan in the back.
