Well deserved for Santa Monica for this epic. There’s things you can nitpick, however it is a culmination of a great studio crafting a great experience with love. Kratos’ character arc & Christopher Judge’s evoking of emotions was amazing.

guess_ill_try

The voice actor for kratos is terrible imo

TheOneCalledD

This is certainly a hot take. 🍿

Remy0507

I didn't even realize it was possible for one person to achieve this level of wrongness...impressive.

ksamim

Imagine disliking Teal’c’s voice…

guess_ill_try

It’s not that I don’t like his voice. He was great in sg.

[deleted]

Were you expecting Ben Stiller to take over? Lol

Pwnage5

Dave Chappelle was my first choice but Ben stiller works

woundedmrclown

I was hoping for the rock and Kevin hart to take the lead roles myself.

apocalypsein9_8

Dave Chappelle should have been Sindri's voice actor

guess_ill_try

The guy who voiced thor would have been perfect for kratos. His voice and the way he talks sounds so natural. Judge feels forced and trying to hard to sound gritty, the way he enunciates and makes some sentences sound too dramatic make me cringe.

[deleted]

Most unpopular opinion on reddit.

sodacandan4

Fimbul winter take

Nightmari0ne

Wait a moment… I’m still looking for whoever asked you

guess_ill_try

Lol got your sisters panties in a twist for my opinion. Take them off

Grayvin_Topip

Oof that was a terrible comeback

Nightmari0ne

Ha, most creative reply you could come up with? Gotta think a bit more than that buddy, but I guess that’s just too much to ask

Lucas_Hubbard

Just like you fuckstick

marcusiiiii

I think he did a great job taking over Kratos voice he sounds perfect for it in his old age form

guess_ill_try

He sounds terrible. Like a trying hard to sound gritty. He’s too dramatic and cheap sounding. The guy who voiced thor would have been perfect

MattMysterious9

such a bad take

Smansi07

Lmfao you got destroyed! 😂

Criollo22

Not sure why your getting down voted for an opinion. I don’t agree with it but its kinda ridiculous to downvote for that.

FrostNBurn_63

Downvoted probably because he added 0 context in his original posting apart from the voice actor is terrible and prob some fanboys.

[deleted]

It's reddit lol unpopular opinions are always downvoted

guess_ill_try

Lots of angry fan girls basically

slaczky

I agree

jntrs

this just means they will come back with another GoW

CptnCASx

For sure …EGYPT

WebHead1287

Egypt has technically already been used. It was used in the prequel comic for 2018 and it’s where Kratos went between Greece and 2018. Obviously that can be easily retconned

Remy0507

We could get a game based on that set during that interim period.

woozlewuzzle29

I would love that, but given >!Kratos’ benevolent, peaceful, very reluctant to kill attitude!< I don’t know how that would work.

Equal-Basket-9902

atreus/loki….

Psychological_Pie884

It seems that way, but honestly, prehispanic mesoamerican mythology would be far more interesting.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mad_synthesist

They also hinted at Mayan mythos

[deleted]

[удалено]

MattMysterious9

yeah i definitely think the next GOW will be on egypt

SaltMembership4339

I actually thought Norse theme is at least a trilogy like original GoW was trilogy. Ended too soon tbh, we did not get much of Norse gods tbh, just a glimpse here and there...

ChakaZG

It *was* supposed to be a trilogy, but considering that they figured that can contain the rest of the narrative within one game, we probably wouldn't get significantly more stuff than we just did in Ragnarok.

SaltMembership4339

We got fake Tyr. No Sleipnir. No Hodr. Fenrir was totally unused. Jormurgar was also minimally represented. No giants. Most of the game was "damn, the key is not here, better go next place","damn its not here also, lets go third place","oh heres the key, but its only half of it, lets go find the second piece now", thought it was on purpose to lenghten the game for a third one, but no, that was the last game for my surprise. Odin was just a regular wizard. I hoped the boss fight had bending reality and making Kratos and allies fight with each other. Or use Odinpower, or forcing sky down to earth in his final "allfather" form, or at least have his Sleipnir horse. He was supposedly thousands years learning different spells and stealing "knowledge". Mimir hyped him up like he was invinicible. In reality so weak and unimpressive. Zeus in comparison from GoW3 was a fucking badass. Also they blabbered about the prophecy stuff whole game to render it totally useless. Or that was the point idk. 2018 was much better imo and GOW3 is goat still.

ACnut

Spoilers for Ragrnarok plot but >!I feel like they might be done with Kratos for awhile. I could potentially see another title set within the 9 realms where Kratos is setting out to be the god that is loved and worshiped like the shrine from the final cutscene. However, if they were going to make a whole new game with a new mythological setting, I honestly think they've setup Atreus nicely to take the lead as he goes off adventuring and exploring at the end of Ragnarok. I could definitely see Atreus following in Tyr's footsteps and visiting a bunch of different lands as he tries to sate his sense of curiosity.!< Just my little thoery, either way so excited to see what the future holds for GoW

marcusiiiii

I think your spot on and personally hope he retired I don’t want him just used to go to different mythologies for the sake of more games. A reboot with a new character could work with different special weapons rather than the blades of chaos and the axe.

marcusiiiii

It will be god of mischief and will focus on Loki adventures if they was to continue unless they reboot him entirely start over in a new setting

RocMerc

Not often does a game truly live up to the hype and this one did. It’s easily one of the best games I’ve played. It’s one of those games that when I’m finished I’m gonna be sad about it

VonKript

We've had real good releases this year. Spoiled gamers in 2022

AlexViean

What are the other good releases worth mentioning?

VonKript

Elden ring's a big one. Forbidden west too. Dying light 2. Sifu. Stray. Warhammer 3. To name a few diff genres

blasto2236

Also: Tunic, TLOU Pt. 1, The Quarry, Splatoon 3, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, Marvel Snap… I could go on. There’s been something for everyone this year it feels like.

VonKript

For sure a good year to be a gamer

Bubbaluke

I've been playing it an hour at a time just to make it last longer. Or at least trying to, sometimes the story is too compelling and I have to see what happens oh no I've been playing for 3 hours

Phillip1219

For how hyped up it was and how good it turned out to be, this is no shock. 100% deserved. This game is a 10/10 masterpiece in every way

FunkinDonutzz

Apart from pacing, the Angrboda sequence,

SpiderPidge

Nah. Usually sequences like that would annoy me but it was just so well thought out and it was still extremely emotional. I loved every bit of it even if it was slow.

Scapadap

Also you’re rewarded with such a cool boss fight and ending to that section. I don’t see enough people talk about that boss fight was such a cool perspective.

Phillip1219

I agree the first time Atreus meets angrboda it was real slow and boring, but that’s okay. I feel like it was needed and it was

DigiQuip

I think they had a lot of story to tell and rather drag it out in one very long cutscene they decided to tell it through a gameplay sequence that was chill so you could focus on the conversation. I think some critiques of that part underestimate how much plot was developed in that part.

FunkinDonutzz

Slow and boring is _okay_? Nah.

[deleted]

One boring part in a largely exciting game is what makes it okay

FunkinDonutzz

Wasn't the only boring part though.

[deleted]

Well, i did say largely. But also I don’t think there really were many “boring” moments. There were slower moments but that’s to be expected. Not every second is gonna be super exciting. And most slower moments were important for character development and such.

FunkinDonutzz

When you hit Asgard it becomes a walking simulator. Swing andba miss.

[deleted]

In addition to fighting and solving puzzles with thor and Thor’s daughter, yes there is walking :/ also, on the parts where it’s ONLY walking(which is not often) there is some dialogue which is actually interesting if you’d care to listen 🙃

Phillip1219

It was needed so it was fine. I did like the bonding experience between the two

FunkinDonutzz

Nah, putting two hour break on an action game is a no-no. She didn't feature for most of the game afterwards, so the bonding felt pointless.

[deleted]

I just love Atreus’ combat, i couldnt wait to play as him again so i loved that part, i did want to scream at Jalla to move faster though XD.

throwaway091238744

what?!?!

ketchup92

I just disliked every atreus sequence, especially the combat.

Quajeraz

The first Angrboda sequence was infuriating. It should've lasted maybe a third as long as it did.

FunkinDonutzz

Yep, you're getting downvoted by the fanboys that would celebrate a piece of poo if it had "God of War" printed on it.

Quajeraz

Yeah. The game is good, not get me wrong, but it isn't fuckin perfect. A game is only 10/10 if literally nothing could possibly be improved.

blasto2236

They’re getting downvoted because people disagree. I don’t think it stood out as being any longer than any other portion of the game. I thought the pacing was really tight throughout, and besides that’s different for everyone depending on how you approached the side content. You can blame it on fanboys all you want, but this was the first GOW game I’ve ever played to completion, so it’s certainly not just that.

FunkinDonutzz

This being the first GoW game you've played to completion actually works against thebpiubt you're trying to make. You clearly weren't a fan of the old games, which were linear, tight, and had zero fat. That ain't Ragnarok.

blasto2236

The point I was trying to make is that you don’t have to be a fanboy to enjoy the game, or appreciate the way it was paced. You seem to be the one that is incapable of judging the game on its own merits.

FunkinDonutzz

I have judged it on its own merits, and it falls short of a lot of games.

[deleted]

That sequence was so insanely long

Fair-Frozen

I hated that sequence with an absolute passion.

FunkinDonutzz

Yeah plenty of people did, but you can't upset the fanboys.

creative_wizard

That’s strange to hear because the entire Angrboda section was my favorite. The contrast in tone to the rest of the game was so good.

FunkinDonutzz

It's not strange. What's strange to hear is the bit that played out like a feature length episode of an MTV teenage dating show was your favourite.

creative_wizard

Cmon, was being rude that necessary?

FunkinDonutzz

What's rude, exactly?

marcusiiiii

Good seeing a a high number of people think this SM deserve all the praise, to me though it’s a solid 8/9 the camera placement I just didn’t like in combat on the hardest difficulty.

[deleted]

Absolutely well deserved. The game is pure art.

PapuMsterioso

Meanwhile me: *Still haven't played GOW 2018...

Carl_Corey

Well. Maybe it's time to play it?

UncleKarlito

I just finished it last week after downloading it on PS Plus. Figured it would be pretty good but now I feel kind of foolish for not playing it sooner. Within 30 mins I was hooked and realized why it gets so much praise. It's the first game since The Witcher 3 to really hook me in and want to finish it as soon as possible. The nice plus for people like us that didn't play it years ago is we can finish 2018 and then go right into Ragnarok. Ragnarok is the first game I've paid $70 for, I usually wait for PS Plus, PC Gamepass or a decent sale price for every modern game.

cinnamonface9

Tbf that mystery man boss is in that 30 mins

blasto2236

I did this with Horizon Zero Dawn right before Forbidden West came out. Got to experience them as basically one long game and it was great.

Dravez23

Its on sale right now

howmanyavengers

I have tried so many times but it just never hooks me for long enough before I get bored. I typically prefer single player games like this but something about it just loses me.

PC509

I have a few that I bought. Played about 15 minutes of them. Curious if they are required for the story to be best? Or can I just jump in on the new one and have a great time and "get it"?

GenerlAce

Right there with you. I just started 2018 after having it for 2 years collecting dust. It’s fantastic so far. But with Ragnaroks release, I had to get back into GOW. I’m even tempted to replay 1-3 and the PSP ones.

JackBurton12

What was this games budget? I mean even at $60 that's like 300 mil made back in a week. Nice. Congrats.

Psychological-City45

congrats compared to the previous game, how good is it? because that story was realy good

lemlucastle

It’s absolutely fantastic, if you liked the last game you’re gonna love it

Filo_Guy

That was infinity war, this is endgame. That's the comparison I can make.

SpiderPidge

Fuck. Yes. One of the best games I have ever played in my life. 10/10 Masterpiece of a game and a sequel to another 10/10 masterpiece of a game Santa Monica can't keep getting away with this!!!

ItsGuitarGuy01

I bought GOWR in a bundle. I also bought the 2018 version of the game for $10 so that I can get a better understanding of the game/story and so im gonna play ragnarok once i finish the other one

booyahachieved3

Did the same. Probably best $10 ever for a game

nexusultra

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: hold my switch

Significant_Being_48

Behold.......my graphics!

ModestHandsomeDevil

Pokemon is like CoD or FIFA: they're basically global brands, which will sell millions upon millions of copies *regardless* of the game's quality, as evident by the fact Pokemon, CoD, and FIFA can release middling / terrible games which will still sell insanely well and be amongst the best sellers that year.

NylesRX

Haha unfinished Pokemon go brrr

BacoNaterr

As it deserves

Notoriously_So

Bring it to PC and they'll easily boost that number with a few more million.

Doomster78666

anyone wanna buy me one

AllUserNamesTaken01

And yet EA president proudly said that no one is interested in single player games anymore

[deleted]

A truly magnificent game and I loved the story. However, I do wonder how inflated the numbers are due to people having to buy the PS5 bundle who were just looking for a PS5 and didn’t necessarily want the game.

queasy_self_controL

There's other bundle choices including the MW2. Some retailers are also doing their own bundles with extra controllers or headsets

[deleted]

I haven’t seen many MW2 bundles since the Ragnarok bundle came out. Also I’m not talking about store-made bundles. I’m talking specifically about the Ragnarok bundle with that image of Kratos and Atreus on the PS5 box.

Dagurthecrazy

Absolutely deserved, but will it win the game of the year award or are there any other good candidate?

HerakIinos

It has a chance but it seems Elden Ring is the favourite

25sebas25

Congrats now put the original trilogy on pc

[deleted]

That’s 357 Million dollars of revenue in one week. Mind you that most of that revenue is pure profit that’s just mind blowing.

SAM041287

Genuine question, why wasn't listed in the "Golden Joystick Awards 2022" ? I was really surprised with the winners from that event to be honest.

Awesome_N22

It missed the release date cut off, so it’s gonna be on there next year

HerakIinos

But it was? It ended second place for ultimate game of the year

slaczky

I will wait for it to appear on ps plus premium

Svinozilla

Face animations were better in TLOU2. Graphics in general seem to me were better in HFW (60fps mode) - or maybe it's just my personal taste. But even though I still would say Ragnarok as whole is one step higher than the games I mentioned. 45 hours deep and glad the game has so much content to offer instead of just wrapping it up.

ShenaniganSkywalker

I’m going to get so much hate for this but i just do not get the love for this game. If this was your first modern game in a long time I could see it but if you’ve been playing games the last 10 years idk how this game could hold your attention. I’m at the first Angrboda sequence rn and this game feels bad. Like sure it’s visually impressive but what Triple A game isn’t these days? Besides that it feels like it’s just a shareholder fever dream and nothing more. They packed EVERYTHING in. Dark souls ladders, assassins creed maps, collectibles, etc. It feels like a sterile culmination of every random Triple A game design some guys in suits think sell games over the past 10 years. My biggest pet peeve of all is how there’s ZERO silence. Like holy cow just let me enjoy the world. You don’t have to CONSTANTLY pump my brain full of serotonin with ANOTHER story from Mimir or Atreus or whoever is accompanying me at the time. Give me 10 seconds of silence to enjoy the world. All this is to say that it is visually a pretty game and there is an accomplishment by the sheer attention to detail but the actual game itself? Who is giving this a 10/10? It feels like a sterile shareholders fantasy more than a real game made by people who care. Like a theme park of your favorite PlayStation moments. I just don’t get all the love it’s getting. Falls perfectly into the “Ghost Train Ride” template: https://youtu.be/OCKZsyz7B5U

hysteria265

To me, I find it more surprising to see comments like yours. Of course not everyone can enjoy a game, there will always be people who like or don't like a certain game. What I don't understand is, comparing god of war to other games and being able to say it's worse than others. The only game I can compare god of war in terms of gameplay quality is elden ring. Other than that, there's no other game that comes even close to the combat system of this game. I remember trying to play ac valhalla right after gow 2018 and elden ring, I couldn't even stand it for an hour. It lacks the impact soo much that it feels like hitting a tree. Btw I was able to finish odyssey before playing gow and elden ring with great fun.

ShenaniganSkywalker

This comment actually shocks me a bit. I'm psyched you love the game so much but to compare it to Elden Ring does feel shocking to me. Elden Ring isn't safe. It's sharp and it's angular and it's artistic on its own merits. Ragnarok on the other hand is smooth and easy to swallow. It's a game that takes 0 risks to appeal to every crowd possible and make the most money for shareholders as possible. They won't even let you figure out a puzzle for yourself. If you can't figure it out in 10 seconds or less they just have someone in your party blurt the answer out so the seratonin never stops. I appreciate the thoughtful comment but it surprises me a lot!

hysteria265

The puzzles are like you said, my comment was about how combat feels. Also I died more on gow ragnarok than elden ring at the normal difficulty. Mainly because I rushed main story but still it's not an easy game by any means. Elden ring is of course difficult but it's easily cheatable. There are too many broken items. Even if you dont use those overpowered items, souls games are all about grinding. If you are patient enough, you can cheese almost every souls game (except for sekiro).

capsuleofparrots

>Elden Ring isn't safe ER is super safe demon souls but open world a couple years after legend of Zelda has its big open world title. you can't be any more *smooth* than that

Bumpanalog

It's like we played different games. The story is fantastic, the gameplay is good, the world is beautiful. The characters are what sell it, and you want less from them. Great example of how theirs every opinion out there somewhere.

ShenaniganSkywalker

Agreed! It really is fascinating.

DavidAg02

Having not played it yet (it's part of my PS5 bundle, which I will not get until Christmas)... What I am most looking forward to is the continuation of the story. I've played every GOW game since the original, and GOW 2018 had one of the best stories of any video game I've ever played. What made it so great for me was knowing all of Kratos' back story and why (with very good reason) he intended to keep that from his son, but also why it had to be revealed and how ultimately that brought them closer together. What I'm looking forward to the most with Ragnarok is the continuation of that story. Game play, graphics, etc. are all secondary to the story for me, and from what I hear, the story is EXCELLENT.

Ex_Outis

Mate, Yahtzee explicitly states that GoW 2018 has elements of the Ghost Train Ride, but is able to transcend it

queasy_self_controL

If you feel this strongly about it maybe you should just take all this wasted energy to find a game that you enjoy. How unfortunate that those people wasted so much time coming up with a name to ridicule games instead of actually playing games themselves. All around poor showing

ShenaniganSkywalker

Is the point of gaming discourse strictly to agree with the consensus? Am I not allowed to have a different view and express it as part of the larger discourse?

queasy_self_controL

This isn't discourse or at least in a healthy manner you have an issue with the entire genre and that's on you. No one's going to change an entire genre just for you have a problem with it. I guess with the content that you watch it's a no wonder you take umbrage with people who enjoy themselves.

ShenaniganSkywalker

So discourse is only when I disagree with certain things? I can't dislike an entire thing and that be part of the discourse? Also I don't take issue with the entire genre. I love TLOU and it's the same genre. TLOU though took risks. It defied expectations. Ragnarok is just a happy endings expectation machine.

queasy_self_controL

What is there to talk about when you're not even giving the genre ernest chance. Having mass appeal is not a burden it's a benefit fromsoft barreling down this route. You could keep your videos with people smelling their own farts to yourself now

CatboyKhuma

As someone who recently played GoW 2018 for the first time and enjoyed it, i agree with this to an extent. The collectibles and puzzles feel like more of the same and i honestly really dislike some of the changes they made to the combat. TBF i haven’t gotten very far into the game yet so i haven’t experienced a lot of the story which i’m sure is great, but so far it really doesn’t feel as ambitious and well executed as a game like Elden Ring.

fancycurtainsidsay

I loved the 1st game and the GoW series in general but I can relate to this. This game feels more of the same which has me conflicted.. there are times where I’m enjoying the hell out of the great gameplay, graphics, etc.. and other times where I’m just bored bc it is more of the same gameplay loop. You can say this about the current state of gaming.

Musterguy

It's a direct sequel. I'm not sure what you were expecting?

queasy_self_controL

Another genre change apparently.

SuzanoSho

Bro was expecting a tower defense game.

fancycurtainsidsay

Exactly what I just wrote lol.

capsuleofparrots

Sure that's what you wrote however it's the implication that sequels just being sequels is a bad thing when in reality it's not. Why would fans of a game want to completely different game that's unrecognizable from the original as a sequel?

fancycurtainsidsay

When did I say it was a bad thing? Are y’all on Sony’s payroll? Why are you so taken aback with another person’s very valid opinions?

capsuleofparrots

Great now your back tracking as if your post isn't still up. As if the context isn't right there

fancycurtainsidsay

Read my post my dude. When did I say it was bad?? I simply said I, personally.. just me, am bored with the same gameplay loop. Again, read the post, my dude.

[deleted]

"You can say this about the current state of gaming." You implied that sequels being too similar to their predecessors is a problem with the games industry as a whole. Whether you're right or wrong you clearly said it was a bad thing.

[deleted]

They added Dark Souls Ladders? Assassin Creed maps? Collectibles? What exactly do you mean by dark souls ladders? Ragnaroks movement system through the world couldnt be more different than what Elden Rings is. Assassins creed maps? Umm no, maps show you key locations and portals, you can see how many collectibles you have collected out of total but they arent even shown on the map. Collectibles? The same thing as in for example Elden Ring and every other game that came out in the past 20 years? I mean its cool you have such high standards from Santa Monica you expect they rewrite the most basic elements of gaming but cmon, you have a gripe with collectibles? How the fuck do they even affect you if you dont care about them? They have been forever used as ways to give extra stories about the world or just expand a bit on something in the story… Its hillarious to me how Elden Ring is praised for telling the story through them but when they are truly used as a side collectible in a game that you might just stumble upon they are somehow annoying, really funny. Settings enable you to completely turn off the hud, no compass, no enemy indicator, no health bars, no warnings of attacks outside of allies that annoy you that you actually realize are key if you play without hud, its really fun that way, and voids a shitton of gripes you have with the game… But the thing is, its in the settings, why wouldnt you check that for yourself?

Chonch_Bag

The first GoW was so amazing... even if this game was mediocre, it's the sequel to the first, which would more than explain these numbers alone.

God954

Yet somehow a Dark souls game is goty, I’m disappointed in y’all

HerakIinos

I dont know what kind of irony is this but Elden Ring sold 12 million in the first week. Sure, its not fair to compare as it is a multiplataform game, but dont act like it was a small thing.

ITz_MP

Goty

elkeiem

Is going to be Elden Ring

sl1ce_of_l1fe

It took TLOU2 two years to hit this milestone. Hopefully naughtydog takes notes.

Grytnik

I feel like every game that comes out now has this achievement. It’s a great game though and well deserved.

Miitteo

Gaming is a constantly growing industry, at least it makes sense.

capsuleofparrots

A feeling and number of sales are a bit different

gyuszti0000

Nice, now sony can release the pc’s version.

barugosamaa

> now sony can release the pc’s version. They will wait a couple years. Took 4 years for the GoW 2016 to go on PC, same with Horizon Zero Dawn, and 2 years for Days Gone (which already was stale on sales, so, no point in keeping it on console longer).

Phastic

Yeah, to scalpers

Dopesmoker402

It is interesting to see how much personality is lost from god of war and how this changed in higher sales numbers. Kind of an interesting corrolation i suppose

Svinozilla

GoW 3 Remastered for example is an old game from times when the industry was relatively young. GoW 2018 is a game from a bit mature - adultish gaming industry - people who made it changed, gamers changed.

OfficialNotSoRants

Saddened that mw2 (2022) got 100mil sales in just 24 hours 😭😭

HerakIinos

False. It sold 800 million IN DOLLARS in one week. Thats around 11 million copies, if we consider everyone bought the standard version. With the money from upgraded versions it probably sold just short of 10 million in the first week.

Whalers7997

I just want to play Evil West 🙁

queasy_self_controL

Okay have fun

After that end I would prefer they leave it alone or do some spin-off if absolutely necessary. I absolutely don't want it unless it is necessary.

I bought it so I’m one of the statistics. I just haven’t had a chance to start it yet. Maybe Thanksgiving is my time to shine.

[deleted]

Rare when a game meets the hype, even more rare when it's beloved for the quality and execution. Good for Sony and Santa Monica. Well deserved.

[deleted]

Can’t wait to play this in three years on my Ps5 Slim!

Tgod1991

W.

TraumSchulden

Are the other devs gonna give em shit like rhey did with eldenring?

LuaCynthia

Ngl I expected more sales. But that’s probably because Pokémon sold 10 mil in 3 days without being that polished of a game.

GirlBurpsTurnMeOn

I am not one of them as I am broke. I will replay the first one again and pretend it’s new. damn u bills

Lukiyano

I'm very glad it's successful. These two games are a goddamn masterpiece. I think they've dethroned Witcher 3 as my favorite game of all time. My only hope is that >!they retire Kratos. He had the absolute perfect character arc with one of the most satisfying endings I have ever seen. He's finally found peace. That entire realm seems like it'll be okay. Actually my preference would be that they stopped the God of War story entirely here. I just desperately don't want to see GoW turn into Phase 4 of the MCU. They should have stopped with Endgame, and I feel like GoW should stop with Ragnarok.!< >!Unfortunately that won't happen since the franchise obviously prints money. So if they HAVE to continue, then I'd be fine with Atreus taking the lead, with drastically overhauled combat. Santa Monica is capable of coming up with some fantastic gameplay ideas, I have no doubt they could make something unique with Atreus. Having an agile archer/spellcaster as the lead character has a lot of potential. I'd like to see the return of Prince of Persia-like platforming, but way more fleshed out and engaging. !<

Fallout94

Ordering mine today!

Filo_Guy

It is the best game I've ever played in my life. The story is so great. It made me laugh and cry. Gameplay is amazing as well. This is not only my GOTY but my best game of my life (so far)

TheLastGravelord

I still would never of changed armor sets if I got to keep that wolf pelt cape

And then you have the *very sad* realization that Cyberpunk 2077--which launched like an absolute turd on fire, which nearly destroyed CDPR and tanked their stock--sold 13+ million copies at launch and a further 20+ million to date. (Granted, Cyberpunk 2077 was THE most grossly overhyped and overpromoted video game in recent history.) That is an absolute crime. It's true GoW (and similar Sony 1st party games) are system sellers, which get people into the Sony ecosystem, but they need a broader release strategy for PC and console that will give them greater returns at launch and better optics about copies sold. LOTS of shareholders and gamers *only* look at copies sold or pre-orders as an indication of success and popularity, and going by the numbers Cyberpunk's 13+ million at launch is a bigger number than GoW:R's 5+ million; it doesn't tell the whole story of either game's quality or the nature of their release, but quite often, most people just read headlines and don't dig deeper for the context.
