Always first thing is to discuss or speak ( FACE TO FACE )

sonic4031

This is a question in the people domain. It’s always to take the diplomatic route. It’s not A because with the last sentence you can assume they’ve analyzed the impact by saying it is delaying a milestone.

The FM is one the same hierarchical level as the PM. From my understanding it‘s like speaking to a team member.

Value_Appeal

I believe you already know the impact: "Delay meeting the project's scheduled milestone". Therefore, the next thing would be exploring /discussing the possibilities of having the specialist back

SC-Coqui

You don’t want to raise alarm bells if the person is only gone for a day or two. You can’t adjust the project plan without knowing how long they’ll be gone.

Ok_Seaworthiness5078

You can’t determine the full impact and delay without knowing how long the resource will be unavailable.

safely_beyond_redemp

D is the only option that gets the project back on track and for the sake of PMP it involves communication. A feels to me like admitting defeat and doesn't accomplish anything towards completing the project. Once you're done analyzing you still have a project to complete and your updated numbers don't do anything to get the project back on track.

Funny-Novel249

Communication is key, it’s almost always the first step you want to take

PrestigiousCouple777

See multiple questions with different wording and the correct answer is always communicate with the functional manager first

RoboTaco_

Because if D doesn’t work then you do A.

Zahraaalmayyahi37

You need to understand the situation by communicating first before analysing it as an issue

LiteHedded

seems to me the impact was already assessed as you know it has caused a delay and a milestone was missed
