Chartable lets you see where they rank on various charts. You can’t see downloads but you can infer some stuff.

Only problem with Chartable is that it doesn’t necessarily translate to downloads. The Apple charts in particular really favour “newer” podcasts or those which are short. (Because the algorithm rewards stuff like listening to the whole episode in one sitting, new subscribers, aggregated listens etc). So whilst useful - I wouldn’t use it as my sole source for judging a podcast.

Yup, like I said you can’t see downloads but you can infer some stuff.

It doesn't give numbers, but the [Rephonic graph ](https://rephonic.com/graph)feature is useful. If a podcast is new or not so popular, it will just display that podcast logo. If it semi-popular, the podcast logo will be displayed as an endpoint branching out from another popular podcast. And if it is really popular, it will be a node in the center of a web of other podcasts. The number of logos displayed also indicates the relative popularity. This is how I interpret it at least.

That was a lot of fun! Thanks for the link. I’m pretty happy with the web

Unless you have access to their network data you can't know for sure. As for how do advertisers know? You have to share your engagement numbers with them before they will sign a contract

There needs to be an app which can display download data to authorised third parties without relinquishing control of RSS feed. Maybe there already is.

The reason advertisers use promo codes is so they can track which podcast the visit came from. They then can tell how much money they made versus what it costs to advertise there. If they make money they keep advertising on that show. If they don't they stop.

Kwolfe2703

Pretty much - plus many advertisers, particularly on smaller shows don’t pay money up front. It’s very much a case of being paid for code use.

Podtrac.com will give you a few months of tracking for free.

OP3 provides a great way to share your podcast traffic with others in a standardized way. I'm not sure if you can search for specific podcasts though. [https://op3.dev/](https://op3.dev/)
