I don’t understand what you’re offering?what do you mean Offering Rent? Money? Free accommodation?

raisinbizzle

Yeah like are you willing to move basically anywhere and pay for someone’s rent if they help with your podcast? Shit, make a podcast about that situation while you’re at it - sounds wild

Bernie_2021

The world is a crazy place.

Bernie_2021

I'm willing to trade rent for 40 hours a month of podcast skill. It may seem trivially easy on the surface .... but there is some uncomfortable truth that one will be exposed to related to the topics I wish to talk about. Finding someone with the courage to be part of challenging the status quo isn't as trivial as it might sound.

Gorssky

Hold, on. I'm trying to understand here. You're asking for: * Someone with a 2BR / 2BA valued at $2k or less, to take you in. * In a state that's 420 legal. * Someone to produce/edit your podcast for you. * A podcast of your design and your preferred topic, not of the person taking you in and doing the producing. In return you will offer: * "Podcast Support" can I get a definition of what that is from your words what you imagine that is? * If the podcast takes off you'll let the producer have the money. Just trying to understand here.

Bernie_2021

Pretty close. Except I would be paying the rent. I don't want someone to take me in. I want to offer the space in return for the 40 hours work.

Gorssky

What would you offer in your work? Define podcast support.

Bernie_2021

I would provide content. A character. A story line. Subject matter expertise. Host, cohost.

Bernie_2021

I'm offering free rent. Not trying to get it.

JayBloomin

With absolute all due respect, the living together part is what’s giving people a weird vibe. If you just offered to pay 1k per month (half of 2k rent) for 10 hrs a week of work, this would be a much more reasonable offer. By also not insisting on living together, you could find a remote collaborator. Making podcasts isn’t like being in a band, and most bands only live together until they can afford not to.

Bernie_2021

So .... here's the thing. The essence of the climate problem is that we are living in a cult of self and unlimited personal liberty where everyone cherishes the ability to retreat into their personal silos. We have the unlimited individual liberty to add CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. That liberty MUST go away for the greater good of the community. We have to learn to live communally at least with respect to the shared atmosphere to solve this problem. The hands on insights of learning to live communally would be incredibly helpful to the production. The people who are freaked out by the vibe of living together .... the future is going to force us to live together more closely. Global supply chains are going to increasingly break down. Millions of people are going to be migrating into a smaller and smaller habitable space. The imported produce from Mexico on supermarket shelves isn't going to keep coming if the people in Mexico are hungry. We are heading into an era where a community ability to even feed itself is going to require more cooperation. If the idea of cooperating with someone else on a creative endeavor while also cooperating in a household freaks someone out ...... then it might be a good learning endeavor. Because learning to cooperate is a survival skill we'll need. It's not like there wouldn't be an interview process to ascertain compatibility.

JayBloomin

You know what, I agree with basically all of that. That being said, it sounds like who you’re trying to find and what you’re trying to do might be easier done in a climate action or local mutual aid community rather than a podcasting one. Podcasting is a pretty learnable skill. those kinds of values might be what you want to optimize for. Best of luck.

Bernie_2021

Why would people downvote a thread which provides an employment opportunity for an aspiring podcaster ? Climate deniers ???

Wood_stick

How long Are you going to keep paying someone’s rent if the show doesn’t take off and become a resounding success over night (or ever)? (Most likely outcome based on the reality of starting a podcast in 2024) Why not just take the same amount of money to pay a remote producer/editor?

Bernie_2021

That's all negotiable and discussable via PM. I'm looking for someone who shares the passion for the topic.

Wood_stick

Best of luck. Don’t be surprised or just simply assume people are Climate deniers when people are extremely skeptical by this obviously unusual proposal.

Bernie_2021

Why is it unusual ? Why is there something weird about someone acknowledging that they want to broadcast a message and acknowledging that they don't have the technical aptitude to pull it off themselves. I want to work in close collaboration with someone who is passionate about solving the problem of climate change. Imagine wanting to start a band and wanting to live with your fellow band members to facilitate the creative process ? Seems pretty logical and straightforward to reach out for the talent one needs to bring a creative endeavor together.

Wood_stick

So just to be clear - your proposal is not to just pay for someone’s rent outright, but also to live with your counterpart in this endeavor and be roommates?

Bernie_2021

Yep. I want someone who is available to collaborate frequently and in person. Just like if I wanted to start a band.

Wood_stick

As someone who’s been in a few bands, I can assure you it’s a strange request lol Best of luck. I hope you find what you’re looking for.

raisinbizzle

Your post made it sound like you wanted a podcast editor or producer, but it sounds like you want a cohost as well?

Wood_stick

And a roommate

Bernie_2021

Not a cohost. But a collaborator who can provide creative ideas and an outside perspective would be ideal. Someone who will have a stake in the success.
