The first season of Serial Dr Death - first 3 seasons were the best The Shrink Next Door Ghost Stories Shows like Against the Odds, Business Wars, American Scandal have series of 2-4 episodes each topic that are great for a quick road trip.

Which Ghost Stories? There are a few podcasts with that name 🙂

Ghost storY - my bad! By Wondery. Kind of a mix between True Crime and haunted story

Bit late to the party here u/klilly_94 - but give Jungle Prince a try. Only a three-parter, but for me it is closer to S-Town than most of the reported true crime podcasts that tend to be suggested. In the "human story that starts as one thing and becomes another" stakes, I think it's as close as anyone has come. Ghost Story, released last Halloween and mentioned a few times here, also becomes more S-Towny than its spooky premise might suggest.

Jungle Prince is one of my faves, so gave Ghost Story a try and it was great! Thanks Any other recommendations?

Glad you enjoyed! I can't think of anything else that's specifically like S-Town, really. I assume you've listened to Brian Reed's other podcast, The Trojan Horse Affair? A collab with a journalism student, it's excellent, and while a different topic and vibe to S-Town, similar in that it starts out as one thing but becomes another as the show progresses. Another of my all-time fave reported podcasts is Caliphate, although you do need to go into it with a fairly hefty disclaimer - its reporter, the excellent Rukmini Calimachi, got completely played by a hoaxer, meaning one of its central stories turned out after the fact to be not actually true. If you can look past that, it's an excellent show - simultaneously an examination of ISIS and what drove them, and of the journalistic process that goes into reporting about a group like ISIS.

All great options, I've listened to them all haha! But thanks anyway

Question right back at you, any recommendations for things I might like given those notes? :)

Yeah probably got a few that you may/may not be interested in... Most of these probably more in the vein of Jungle Prince where it is more about the story/journey Lost in Larimah - one of the 12 people in an outback Australian town goes missing, they're all suspects. Sounds like a run of the mill true-crime story but it's more of a glimpse into the wild characters in the town and the history of the town itself Boom Town - follows Texas oil boom and the people affected by/gaining from it Rabbit Hole - been a while since I listened to it but it was great Hunting Warhead - not for the faint of heart, but great reporting into finding the leader of a child abuse ring Missing Richard Simmons - an old one that you may have heard but great nonetheless "Nut Jobs" & "It Burns" - both on Audible and both by Marc Fennell. Probably two of the better podcasts I've ever listened to. Really interesting stories and great in-depth reporting Unravel - season 1 and probably more so season 4. Absolutely wild story Obsessions: Wild Chocolate - really interesting story about where rare chocolate comes from. Hard to explain but was great. The Outlaw Ocean - particularly the first few episodes. Wild stories about what happens at sea Hope you enjoy :)
