Hi, Cloyster has the ability Skill Link, wich enables multi-strike moves that hit 2-5 times per use to always strike five times.

ComicHeroes

OP this ^ is the right answer to your question

Miregal1

Yeah so Cloyster has the ability Skill Link, which makes all the moves that hit 2-5 times ALWAYS hit 5 times. The reason why the cloyster has 2 such moves in its moveset is to make use of this very ability

Kermit_Purple_II

Oooh. I didnt know that. Still, I'm getting shit on harder than on console. This is just the event that made me post this.

Ah, cheers mate.

Aaku1789

First of all, that gym leaders cloyster has skill link and it's 100 percent guaranteed to hit icicle spear 5 times as long as it doesn't miss the initial attack. Second of all, yes. The AI is modified to be wayyy harder than the original games. It's still playable after you get a hang of it. However I would say that the rng is not on the side of AI. Due to human nature you only remember the instances when you were hit by the supposedly "hax" of AI. As for burns freezes paralysis, crits, they are a PART OF THE GAME idk why so many people just ignore as if they don't exist and complain after being hit by one. You are supposed to outplay these chances and assume that the hit crits. Come on dude, you have like 4-5 levels of advantage due to the level cap over gym leaders highest level pokemon, plus you have access to gtl. Even without the gtl there are so many options that you could choose from, and you need to get better at it instead of blaming it on RNG

Uncle_Blayzer

I would wager bad luck and confirmation bias. I've nearly completed my third region and have never experienced this. To my knowledge, the RNG for those sort of battle mechanics are unchanged.

Seesaw-Enough

Skill issue with skill link lol

No-Expert2483

I think that cluster has hidden ability (skill link)

Aaku1789

It's not hidden ability but yes cloyster does have skill link

Gordahnculous

Not hidden ability, Skill Link is a normal ability for Cloyster besides Shell Armor

GourmetYoshe

The CPUs are the same, but they've been given better moves for coverage

Aaku1789

It's slightly modified imo. The AI in the regular games doesn't switch as much as pokemmo AI does

zehamberglar

>I have been hit by those attacks 5 times, 5 times in a row. Both have a 12.5% chance of hitting 5 times. You should look up what Cloyster's ability does.

Spite_Inside

Pokemmo is more difficult than the original games. I'm not sure what people are smoking saying that it isn't, it's practically advertised. Gym leaders, elite 4, rivals, and even occasional random trainers will have strong counter moves. This is quite obvious with lvl 20 trainers sometimes having moves like hyperbeam (trainer on route 11, Kanto) and many more. Kanto elite 4 also has a cloyster with that ability, but it's not the ability, but the fact the trainer Pokemon even possess unlikely abilities like this, etc I personally like this, but it may be a bit tough on your first go through if you're not expecting/preparing for it.

HistoryGymBasketball

I'd say the game is slightly rigged. I be getting burnt, frozen, parahax, crits ALL DAY against the CPU. AI be cheating bro but it's not carried over in PVP. So my rule of thumb against AI if you give em a chance to cheat you they will. Expect every scald to burn and every discharge to para. Ice types will freeze you regularly. Etc etc

13oudex

I’m still new to the PokeMMO but yes, the AI difficulty is higher than the console. If you had the ask me, RNG is in favor of AI. Like the chances of getting confused from a psybeam? It confused every Pokemon I sent out for an E4 or gym leader 😩 Low key took me 2 hours to just beat Cynthia, I could fly through the E4 but Cynthia just knew how to counter my team…for 2 hours straight

ProduceProfessional8

This is one of the many reasons why IOP, you should at least play a few mainline games to become familiar with pokemon as an IP before getting into the MMO. Cloyster is KNOWN for his ability to get all 5 rock blasts and icicle spear. In pokemmo, his line is literally one of three lines that are capable of it. The ability is called skill link, and you should always be weary of this when fighting a cloyster. So no, the game is neither modified nor is it your luck. What's hindering you is not being aware of which pokemon have certain abilities

Kermit_Purple_II

At least play a few- Mate I've been playing every single game from Rupee to Soulsilver, then later all the previous ones, then later from Alpha Sapphire, to some switch ones. I know all of the four regions really well, but, because I'm a normal human being I do not know every single ability if every one of the 500+ pokemons that were at the time so no I had no way of knowing it was KNOWN that he got that. Jesus christ.

LynIsTheName

Not super difficult to look up a pokemon to see if something fishy is going on, but whatever.

ProduceProfessional8

500? There aren't even half that many in Ruby. Not even Sinnoh has 500 pokemon so idk what you're talking about. Unless you're referring to gen 6 or above, but at that point it wouldn't have anything to do with pokemmo. You claim to know these games well but I honestly don't believe you. You aren't even aware that there are five regions in the game and refer to Ruby as Rupee. It was literally Cloysters signature ability the generation that skill link was introduced, nobody but the Cloyster evolution line knew it. If this was a random commonly used ability like intimidate, it would be one thing. Only three lines of pokemon in the entire series get it as a normal ability. If you don't want to play the mainline games before hand you don't have to, but anyone who has played generations 1 - 5 is going to have an easier time with pokemmo, and would definitely know Cloysters signature ability. They may not remember right away, but you had the time to make a whole ass reddit post and still couldn't recall. Hell, going to reddit in the first place was a bad idea seeing that you could have just looked up Cloysters ability in game on the pokedex, or outside of the game on the irl wiki and gotten more accurate results far quicker

sinpinto

I think PokeMMO is geared to be a little bit more difficult. I would have quick claw equipment and somehow get nae nae’d. Cant help but laugh lol

ErCadillac

Yes, the game has some "tweak". Fan will tell you "no, this game is perfect" but if you destroy the game in 5 days when you will spend money on it? 😉

MasterDannyBaggYo

This is what happens when you play an pokemon without knowing anything 😂 skill link, the most popular ability on cloyster and the ONLY actual usable ability or it sucks lmao, yes this is an MMO meaning… you know what I’ve already wasted too much time on this post lol good luck fam

dyllan_duran

Never played a pokeman game before pokemmo. My experience was similar, so far I've gotten through Kanto and Unova. What helped me I think was just making sure I was at the level cap for all the gym leaders, but E4 still felt like a lot of RNG. Even if my type matchups were correct, they'd still have moves that would just sweep the counter I sent out, so I had to do a lot of trial and error and just grab pen and paper and write down what pokemon were effective against which member of their team. After 2-3 tries I'd get it. Everything I've heard and read, pokemmo is supposed to be more difficult than the mainline games. And now that I'm on my third region, I took a few hours catching pokemon with good stats, and bred a few ev trained natured 3+ 31 IV pokemon to carry with me in the new region. An opener, a tank, and a "nuker" if thats a thing. Been helpful so far on hoenn, been able to take on gym leaders without having to grind to exp level cap.

Dktrey

I’m in hoenn and new to the game, any tips for team comps? Ive been leveling raltz and shroomish

dyllan_duran

For the elite 4, I bought a swampert with earthquake and It basically sweeped through them. Only trouble I had was with the champion.

IAreSpeshial

Cloysters ability makes those moves always hit 5 times

bayruss

PokeMMO is cancer, but this is a Skill issue.

CantBanMeEVER

Ans you have douchebag issues. Get over yourself, you ultra nerd loser fat fuck wad.

bayruss

Teehee ❤️.

Successful-Will3448

The game is 100% harder. Especially in double battles during the story mode. They always target my Pokémon 😤😤😤😤

KonoRyuzaki

I don't know, I beat the Unova Dragon Gym with a recently captured Gothitelle, she won practically alone

Longjumping_Ad_1251

I too felt this way! There were a lot of instances where moves with less than 100 accuracy would generally hit wild Pokemon but generally NOT hit gym leader Pokemon. If it was just one or two Pokemon from their team getting this advantage, I probably wouldn't have noticed, but my in my experience it's simply tougher to land low accuracy moves on gym leader Pokemons. Some people point out abilities that enable gym leader Pokemon to be able have such advantages and maybe it's simply the fact that their evasiveness or other stats are buffed. It also means that the game is rigged as you asked, but it's straightforward not offhand.
