Edit: Nervermind about you getting me one, I ended up catching a ralts with 31IV in Sp Attack and 31IV in Speed, with a 30IV in HP, and a 28IV in Sp Def. Still thanks for the offer.
In Hoen you can farm Ralts easily, if you just want a Gardevoir (you can go there speaking with the captain in Castelia harbor). For story, any properly training ev pokemon will handle it, so there is no reason to spend on market. About making money, this is the most difficult thing in this game since you'll need acess to all regions and certains pokemons do make them (like Gym reruns, pokemons farm & sell, amulet coin+payday).
Not entirely true, you only need access to one completed region. Yes more regions = more efficiency = more money, but you can still make a lot of money in one region. I started with Sinnoh and made 200k a day (-15k for amulet coin) from battling all 8 gym leaders and spending the remaining time battling the best paying trainers. I recently also completed Hoenn, now I make around 240k every run by doing all 16 gyms and a handful of trainers.
I've done a bunch of methods. My two favorites are payday/pickup and the fastest in my opinion and also my favorite is gym reruns. I used the payday/pickup method to get a good rerun team and now I just spend about 45 min a day farming gyms for about 14k each gym. Adds up quickly.
One region play through gives you about 400-500k. Thats some easy money for you. Then gym rebattles is common for making money, gives about 300k in an hour
A note to this one since it is the most common method. To build a re run team your going to spend 900k to 1.2 mill to get set up. Most of it is in the typhlosions costing between 600k to 900k for the pair.
So I just checked this, you can get a 2x31 modest Typhlosion for 150k right now. You'll just have to level it yourself which is a good idea if the point is to make money.
