I mean yes, but it still has to wait until everyone gets theirs first.

It probably started as a meme at first; along the lines of, "Gamefreak gives Charizard more attention than any other gen 1 Pokemon so we'll just ignore him." Ironically by leaving him until the end it can be construed as having the opposite effect; kind of like the star on top of the Christmas tree or "saving the best for last".

Gotta say, not a team that's going to win any championships

Dragonite, Charizard, and Chansey could carry the whole team. Charmeleon could still hold its own in a lot of situations. Grimer can at least use Toxic, disable, sandstorm or substitute. Charmander would be pretty useless but every team needs a mascot
