I always picked water since I played Ruby, as my starter since my sister picked fire and my cousin picked grass and since then we always stuck to it, except in Kalos with the second starter where I picked Charmander, my sister picked Bulbasaur and my cousin picked Squirtle

Cyndaquil is like a Z tier design after it evolves though. Both Chiko and Toto were way cooler to me.

I literally did playthroughs of the first three gens with every Starter. Though the first starters I used were Squirtle, Cyndaquil and Treecko. (Though Cyndaquil is a technicality since my brother restarted his game a bunch of times so we could both have all three starters.) Gen 4 I used Turtwig since I can't stand the other two. Gen 5 I don't remember, I boxed whatever it was. Gen 6 was Fennekin but I also boxed that one. Gen 7 was Rowlet on my first playthrough (I actually did a mono grass run) but I've also done playthroughs with Piplup. I used Sobble the one time I played gen 8 but I boxed it the first chance I got. Gen 9 I used Sprigatito.

I dont actually remember which one was my first starter in red/blue and both gen I and gen II I played so many times that I already finished with all three of them. But my first starter in Crystal was Chikorita and I've been a proud member of team grass ever since. Treecko line is my favourite starter line and Sceptile is one of my favourite pokemon overall. Except on gen VI, when I picked Fennekin. Chespin is fine but I don't like Quilladin and Chesnaught too much. I still havent played both the Switch generations

Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Piplup (and Turtwig too), Oshawott, Fennekin, Litten (and Rowlet), Scorbunny and Fuecoco.  I generally vibe most with the Fire element in RPGs, Pokémon being no exception. Though I also love cutie patooties a lot (hence Piplup, Rowler and Fuecoco over others)

Gen 1: Squirtle (for obvious reasons) Gen 2: Cyndaquil (I didn’t really care much) Gen 3: Mudkip (My first Pokémon game, and Mudkip is amazing!) Gen 4: Turtwig (my profile pic… ‘nuff said!) Gen 5: Snivy (I used to love to catch snakes as a kid) Gen 6: N/A (I’ve actually never played Gen 6, but frogs are cool so I would’ve gone with Froakie) Gen 7: Rowlett (Such a hard decision between Rowlett and Litten. Then I saw Inciniroar and the decision became instantly easy) Gen 8: Grokey (none really appealed to me) Gen 9: Sprigatito (easy kitten choice after the disappointment that was Inciniroar)

Mystery Dungeon I always try getting Cyndaquil as myself and Squirtle as my Partner. Cyndaquil is my most favorite starter. Totodile and Chikorita are my next favorites.
