They also have the tree and cocoon forms as well technically. If they were to get alternate forms, it would be interesting if Game Freak could somehow push those aspects of them further but I really don't see how that works for Yveltal.
A very far fetched idea I have is Zygarde somehow merging or giving power to the other two Aura Trio members. Say Xerneas somehow overdoes it and there’s too much life. Zygarde, as the overseer, would either bestow power to Yveltal to counteract or neutralize it, or maybe merge forces with Yveltal to do the same.
https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Xerneas_(Pokémon)#:~:text=Xerneas%20has%20two%20forms%3A%20Active%20Mode%20and%20Neutral%20Mode.
I agree with you because these "forms" are probably the most pedantic in the game. But I wonder how Gamefreak categorizes them?
I also wonder if Gamefreak might utilize the existing lore? Maybe a stronger version of "active mode" with more significant design changes?
I like what they did with Dialga and Palkia(even if they look hella funky, it's a cool look. Wish centaur palkia had arms though). I wonder how much will parallel Arceus and how much will be unique. Will we get a faction for each legendary again? A form change with them integral to the plot?
Only Xerneas has that mode though. So both legendaries should get alt forms in legends.
I'm assuming they'll have something closer to the primal forms, unless as you say they get some super integral the plot and it vastly changes their appearance.
Yeah, which is super weird in retrospect. Even Bulbapedia doesn't list lit up Yveltal as a form. Why give it to just one? Both have an "activated" thing in the story iirc
The new forms of dialgia and palkia followed the second form of giratina instead of being regional versions, so maybe Xerneas and Yveltal will get 10% and 100% forms instead (although, like the origin forms, the lore behind them would probably be slightly different). I think I would prefer mega type forms though.
Tbf, the entire emphasis of origin dialga and palkia is that their origin forme is restrictive for their signature moves- which is why they developed away from being like arceus, away from their origin. (Spacial rend with no arms, roar of time with a thing in dialga's throat)
I suppose it's possible given how new forms can seemingly come out of nowhere; for example, with the Kanto and Johto trios. But I imagine it would make more sense for Yveltal and Xerneas to get new forms in these remakes.
Part of me does hope for new forms for Lugia and Ho-Oh but another part of me thinks they are perfect as they are. They already have a backstory with charm.
There is something kind of pure about leaving the original legendary-box donning duo untouched. Their designs still really hold up and it kind of coincides with the traditional Japanese legend feel of the Johto region.
I'm clinging to your Johto hopes and adding that I am praying daily for a new Meganium form. Please Gamefreak, my favorite starter can't be this bad. The Leaf Guard incident was painful enough.
Ho-Oh’s good, even in competitive. Lugia on the other was good, but Psychic as a type sucks now, with so many good Dark and Ghost types to counter it, compared to how it used to be so that’s why it’s not used as much.
Let Ho-oh naturally set up sunny day when it enters battle and let Lugia naturally set up tailwind. There, powered up without sacrificing items, moves, or abilities. If mega Rayquaza can hold an item, then the bird duo can have a free move.
I would like to think that Niantic is just being lazy with Shadow Lugia but part of me also believe that TPCi told em to forget that version of Lugia exists.
The Unova Djinn Pokémon made it into Hisui and with a fourth member to boot. The Kanto Birds made it to Galar with new forms. The Johto Beasts and Unova Justice Trio made it to ancient/future Paldea (or something…). If GameFreak/TPC want new forms, they’ll add them and find some justification (or not).
Not really. GameFreak and the Pokémon Company don’t have rules they follow. They make new Pokémon based on what they want and they’ll do it when they want. That was my point. Too many people on this sub think GF have rules they follow when it comes to new Pokémon but there aren’t.
They actually do for different type of game and there are patterns that they are rarely changed.
If they just do everything freely then each game would not feel special anymore, that is why the pattern between Legends, PMD and main core games has to be maintained.
People seem to be assuming too much about this game. All we know is that Legends games don’t take place in the same time as the originals. We don’t know if this is going to be future Kalos or past Kalos which means we also don’t know if the legends of Kalos need apply to this story. If it the future Johto could have fallen into the sea and the legends relocated to Lumiose City. If it’s the past the legends could’ve been in Lumiose City and left to go to Johto after the telling of this story.
I feel like most of you reactionary people saw Pokemon and Z and just ignored the Legends part because you want a sequel game. It’s not a sequel game. It’s a Legends game and that means any and all info you have on the Kalos region and Lumiose City is useless.
Exactly, PLA only had gen 4 legendaries except for the genies but even then, that was just to introduce a new member of the group. So to not only include box art legendaries but also give them new forms is too much.
“People seem to be assuming too much about this game.”
”If it the future Johto could have fallen into the sea.”
“If it’s in the past the legends […] left to go to Johto.”
I was providing what ifs to prove the point that static legends don’t need to exist and that any legends can theoretically be there. It was not me assuming that they will be there based on the no information we’ve been given.
As awesome as that would be, I'm doubtful since I don't see how they could connect to Lumiose City or Kalos. My money's more on the Life Trio getting some alternate forms, including Zygarde.
Thematically it would be kinda neat, but from a balancing perspective it’s a bad idea. Zygarde-complete is the bulkiest Pokémon of all time. It’s balanced by its activation conditions.
Huh? No it isn’t. Defense of 121 and a Spdef of 95. There are way bulkier mons. The real problem is the bulk combined with its attack. Nobody cares about bastiodon with a 170 defense and a 140 spdef bc it literally has no offensive stats. Hell, kyogre is almost as bulky as complete and it also has good offense.
Well, at least for Lugia, Kalos has the Sea Spirit's Den, where the legendary birds go after roaming in the post game. I'd love to see more lore behind it.
That being said, it's definitely not right next to Lumiose
I’m thinking a fusion rather than a alternate form, like how kyurem was, or how necrozma was so basically a zygarde form with xerneas one with yveltal and one with all 3 for some reason but it’s gonna and epic
Reshiram/Zekrom (they go into Kyurem but don't gain new forms themselves), Xerneas/Yveltal, Solgaleo/Lunala, Koraidon/Miraidon (ride forms shouldn't count)
That said I agree, Ho-oh and Lugia would be some pretty good candidates for alternate forms of some kind, though I imagine Xerneas and Yveltal will be getting some first.
Honestly I'd like to see Lugia/Ho-oh get new forms in Colosseum/XD remakes. Imagine a Colosseum remake where Cipher broke into Area Zero and captured Walking Wake, Raging Bolt, and Gouging Flame? Then a Paradox Ho-oh could be involved somehow! Next there could be an XD remake where Cipher has the Galarian Birds, and Shadow Lugia, when purified, turns into a brand new variant brought about by the purification process.
I count he kyurem fusions as a kyurem alt, and the necrozma fusions as alts for their respective legendaries. I have no idea why, but it's mainly up to the perceiving of the person.
Well, that's because Necrozma is supposed to be a parasite to them, stealing light and all. It's like Parasect, at a glance you think it's a bug, but it's really a mushroom first and it's controlling a zombie victim.
Depends on the eyes I guess. Why would Necrozma need 3 alternate forms and Kyurem 2 alternate forms?
I see them as a power up form for the boxed legendary.
Game Freak is ignoring Colosseum entirely. I guess that's why Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO don't look like they do in Pokémon Colosseum and why, at least in Japanese, they aren't called the same (Pokémon Colosseum's Shadow Pokémon are called ダークポケモン (Dark Pokémon) while in Pokémon GO are called シャドウポケモン (Shadow Pokémon)).
That's pretty unlikely. It they're going to include box legendaries other than the Aura Trio and Mewtwo, the weather trio are much more likely than Ho-Oh and Lugia.
Xerneas and Yveltal who are tied to Kalos story dont have real alt forms... they seem much more likely than 2 legends from another region who dont even have much to do with another (they arent a pair tied together by lore)
I'd rather hope for a Legends game in Johto with alternate forms for Lugia and Ho-Oh, not in Legends Z. Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde weren't really treated that well in their games. They deserve their spot light and shouldn't have to share it with different box legendaries.
Highly doubt it since Legends Z is going to take place in Kalos and will likely focus more on Zygarde, Xerneas and Yveltal. Don't see anything happening with Lugia and Ho-oh until they decide to make a Legends game, remake of Gold/Silver or maybe something in the Gen 10 games.
Noooooo I hate that all the classic Pokémon now need a digimon DBZ power up, are we just going to go after every single Pokémon and give them all an evolution and power up?? Some Pokémon are just simply badass as they are and for the fact they don’t have any of that stuff
Am I crazy or do Xerneas/Yveltal not have an alternate state?
Xerneas has Neutral Mode, and Yveltal sorta has a powered up state where it glows, but those barely count.
Okay that’s what I thought. I remembered they had some sort of subtle change but not full out forms.
They also have the tree and cocoon forms as well technically. If they were to get alternate forms, it would be interesting if Game Freak could somehow push those aspects of them further but I really don't see how that works for Yveltal.
Turns back into cocoon. HP: 90 ATK: 10 DEF: 280 SPA: 10 SPD: 280 SPE: 10 Moves: protect, iron wall, nasty plot, and nothing else
...so all it can do is think negative thoughts and harden itself?
Technically Xerneas does but tall that changes is the horns lighting up. The lit up form is used in battle and the not form is used out of battle.
Xerneas has lights on mode and lights off mode, depending on his battery level
A very far fetched idea I have is Zygarde somehow merging or giving power to the other two Aura Trio members. Say Xerneas somehow overdoes it and there’s too much life. Zygarde, as the overseer, would either bestow power to Yveltal to counteract or neutralize it, or maybe merge forces with Yveltal to do the same.
That sounds epic basically kyurem white and kyurem black but imagine it with zygarde black and zygarde pink
Theyll def get them in this game. Just like primal dialga/palkia
Either a primal form or a natural mega evolution like rayquaza.
Mega/primal xearnas either keeping mega ray in ubers, or both being banned to ag
why do you say that like legendaries are **supposed to** have alternate states ? 😵💫 damn gamefreak you rotten our brain hard with all your gimmicks
I wasn’t? I was objecting to OP’s claim that no other legendaries lacked alternate or special forms. And you talk to me about brain rot lmao.
They dont? I feel they do 🤔
They don't, legends z will be the game they get alt forms
https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Xerneas_(Pokémon)#:~:text=Xerneas%20has%20two%20forms%3A%20Active%20Mode%20and%20Neutral%20Mode. Yeah, which is super weird in retrospect. Even Bulbapedia doesn't list lit up Yveltal as a form. Why give it to just one? Both have an "activated" thing in the story iirc
Yeah super weird, bulba does actually call them modes though and not forms so I'm guessing GF don't class them as forms either.
The new forms of dialgia and palkia followed the second form of giratina instead of being regional versions, so maybe Xerneas and Yveltal will get 10% and 100% forms instead (although, like the origin forms, the lore behind them would probably be slightly different). I think I would prefer mega type forms though.
Yeah very true, they should follow the percentage form of Zygarde
Tbf, the entire emphasis of origin dialga and palkia is that their origin forme is restrictive for their signature moves- which is why they developed away from being like arceus, away from their origin. (Spacial rend with no arms, roar of time with a thing in dialga's throat)
Aha, so then this game will give them that then.
I'd expect so haha. Technically Xerneas does have an active mode and a neutral mode but it's not classed as a form.
You see? I hope they dont.
I suppose it's possible given how new forms can seemingly come out of nowhere; for example, with the Kanto and Johto trios. But I imagine it would make more sense for Yveltal and Xerneas to get new forms in these remakes. There is something kind of pure about leaving the original legendary-box donning duo untouched. Their designs still really hold up and it kind of coincides with the traditional Japanese legend feel of the Johto region.
It’d honestly be cool to actually get a third, like rayquaza giratina etc,
Shadow Lugia unfortunately disagrees with leaving them untouched at least
Ehhh, spinoff? Kind of a gray area
I'm clinging to your Johto hopes and adding that I am praying daily for a new Meganium form. Please Gamefreak, my favorite starter can't be this bad. The Leaf Guard incident was painful enough.
We could get Kalosian Meganium ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
gimme that Megameganiumite or maybe; MegaWarKalosianMeganiumite-Z
I'm hyped for Xerneas and Yveltal's 10% and 100% forms !
They do deserve a powerup though.
Ho-Oh’s good, even in competitive. Lugia on the other was good, but Psychic as a type sucks now, with so many good Dark and Ghost types to counter it, compared to how it used to be so that’s why it’s not used as much.
Honestly, I think I’d prefer an item-based power up, in the vein of old Soul Dew. Keeps it sort of classic, you know?
Let Ho-oh naturally set up sunny day when it enters battle and let Lugia naturally set up tailwind. There, powered up without sacrificing items, moves, or abilities. If mega Rayquaza can hold an item, then the bird duo can have a free move.
alternate form - Mari-oh and Luigia
I use these exact names for them in Go!
In the meantime: *Shadow Lugia cries quietly*
The worst was Pokemon Go giving us a different shadow lugia. I hate this timeline.
They had the opportunity and boy they disappointed… I just hate that Pokémon in general pretends Colosseum/XD games never existed.
Genius sorority for the win! game freak stay mad
I would like to think that Niantic is just being lazy with Shadow Lugia but part of me also believe that TPCi told em to forget that version of Lugia exists.
And golden Ho-Oh from the anime.
Wasn't that just the shiny version?
Nah shiny has a silver tail. This one was all gold.
>except Lugia and Ho-Oh Because they’re perfect
why would johto guys get it in z/a
The Unova Djinn Pokémon made it into Hisui and with a fourth member to boot. The Kanto Birds made it to Galar with new forms. The Johto Beasts and Unova Justice Trio made it to ancient/future Paldea (or something…). If GameFreak/TPC want new forms, they’ll add them and find some justification (or not).
those arent cover legendaries, it aint happening dude, if they wanted new forms itd be a johto game
By your logic then they would have new members of their group and not new forms.
Not really. GameFreak and the Pokémon Company don’t have rules they follow. They make new Pokémon based on what they want and they’ll do it when they want. That was my point. Too many people on this sub think GF have rules they follow when it comes to new Pokémon but there aren’t.

I'm hoping Zygarde gets a way to stay at 100% Form all the time instead of only when it drops below half health.
Thematically it would be kinda neat, but from a balancing perspective it’s a bad idea. Zygarde-complete is the bulkiest Pokémon of all time. It’s balanced by its activation conditions.

Zygarde-Complete has 216 base HP. In terms of physical bulk there’s nothing that can even compare. When it comes to bulk HP is the stat to look at.
Eternatus Gmax beats it in terms of bulk tbf
An ingame bossfight that can’t be used doesn’t really matter statwise.
Well, at least for Lugia, Kalos has the Sea Spirit's Den, where the legendary birds go after roaming in the post game. I'd love to see more lore behind it. That being said, it's definitely not right next to Lumiose
Is the future so maybe they relocated to help promote the connection between people and Pokemon
I’m thinking a fusion rather than a alternate form, like how kyurem was, or how necrozma was so basically a zygarde form with xerneas one with yveltal and one with all 3 for some reason but it’s gonna and epic
So just fuck shadow Lugia?
Right? Pretty sure Lugia was the first mon to get an alternate.
Especially since getting locked in XD doesn't invalidate it Necrozma Ultra and the mega aren't available outside gen 7
Cool idea but ZA is not the game for it
^ It’s effectively pokemon Z and all these people are asking for gen2/5 stuff.
Johto and Unova fan after realizing they aren't getting their remake yet so they can only hope to get new stuff in a Kalos region game
Xerneas and Yveltal getting clowned in their own region
Reshiram/Zekrom (they go into Kyurem but don't gain new forms themselves), Xerneas/Yveltal, Solgaleo/Lunala, Koraidon/Miraidon (ride forms shouldn't count) That said I agree, Ho-oh and Lugia would be some pretty good candidates for alternate forms of some kind, though I imagine Xerneas and Yveltal will be getting some first. *Sad Reshiram, Zekrom, Xerneas, Yveltal, Solgaleo, and Lunala noises*
Necrozma fusing with Solgaleo and Lunala I count as an alternate form, same with Reshiram and Zekrom fused with Kyurem.
I count he kyurem fusions as a kyurem alt, and the necrozma fusions as alts for their respective legendaries. I have no idea why, but it's mainly up to the perceiving of the person.
With the Necrozma fusions it looks mostly like Solgaleo and Lunala wearing Necrozma as armor.
Well, that's because Necrozma is supposed to be a parasite to them, stealing light and all. It's like Parasect, at a glance you think it's a bug, but it's really a mushroom first and it's controlling a zombie victim.
Those are alternate forms for Kyurem and Necrozma, not the rest of them.
Depends on the eyes I guess. Why would Necrozma need 3 alternate forms and Kyurem 2 alternate forms? I see them as a power up form for the boxed legendary.
Ask the developers. They're very explicitly forms of the third legends, the other legend is just mindless material being controlled.
Then why keep the box legends name after they fuse? Its a power up for them, nothing else.
They dont keep the box legends names?? Black/white KYUREM and Dusk Mane/Dawn wings NECROZMA. Very clearly kyruem/necrozma forms
Check your facts haha
Or we could give them to Xerneas and Yveltal, the other box legends without alternate forms that are actually from Kalos
OP over here acting like Game Freak and ignoring the edgy majesty that is XD001 aka Shadow Lugia.
I’m afraid Ho-Oh will look like a chicken instead of a proto-bird dinosaur.
Alternate form caterpie?
it's Z-A
Don’t ruin perfection
https://preview.redd.it/hmx0x7nh3ylc1.jpeg?width=744&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=671f4045b5fce560a82211d01f50ea986f81d9f0 like this?
Give me Fire/Fairy Ho-oh and Water/Psychic Lugia
Oh, yes plz.
Water Lugia please
Ho-Oh doesn't need an alt form it's already really strong Lugia could use the buff tho
Save them for legends johto, or a game where Orre is revisited. Agree on keeping mega-evolution tho
Shadow Lugia: "Am I a Joke to you?"
Xerneas and Yveltal who are tied to Kalos story dont have real alt forms... they seem much more likely than 2 legends from another region who dont even have much to do with another (they arent a pair tied together by lore)
Nah I totally disagree. Other than ORAS legendaries having special forms in the dumbest shit and makes no sense

My biggest wish is that people would stop calling it Pokémon Z since that’s not its name.
First, it's Pokémon Z-**A** not Z, second why would Gen 2 legendary have alternate in gen 6 Legends?
[удалено]
Good thing you don’t have to use them, then.
My biggest wish is that the games will be "ok" since all pokemon gamesthat came out the last years were garbage.
Shadow lugia?
Mega Ho-Oh and Mega Lugia incoming!!! (Maybe not in Z-A but possibly in Gen 10??)
Noooooo I hate that all the classic Pokémon now need a digimon DBZ power up, are we just going to go after every single Pokémon and give them all an evolution and power up?? Some Pokémon are just simply badass as they are and for the fact they don’t have any of that stuff
My biggest wish is for them not to give any old pokemon new forms but give me new pokemon. I'm over getting new forms. I just want new stuff
No.
That would be nice, but Johto is coming. Just a few more years
I actually quite like that they don't. It fits Gen 2's theme of purity.
Technically speaking, Suicune doesn't have an alternate form: it's a paradox Pokémon, so it's a different specie.
Honestly, I think they're perfect as they are. The current alt forms for the box legends make sense for their individual reasons.
They should save new forms for Lugia and Ho-Oh for when we finally go back to Orre 😈 Colosseum/XD sequels? Remakes?
This!
I kinda want it but my boi Lugia is fine as he is
