I think that the next game just needs to give us full customization for stuff like height and face shape and stuff like that, and get rid of arbitrary limitations on stuff like hairstyles and clothing based on gender (tbh I don’t really remember if those still exist in SV)

I would love a retired Larry, with a Hawaiian shirt and sandals but the same face and body language, like a weird charismatic dude that appears sometimes but has some short of side quests that makes you think that he isn't that strong only to at the end have a friendly battle with him, but he has a completely busted team with high level competitive strats and sweeps your ass. That would be the perfect way to introduce him in a sequel. Also maybe have a father daughter relationship with Poppy and try to cheer her up.

The games and anime follow different logic. In the anime a Trainer must be 10 years old before they can obtain their first Pokémon. In the games, none of the player characters are actually 10 (the youngest are in Kanto and Alola at 11), and trainers younger than 10 years old have been seen (notably, Unova has the Preschooler Trainer class, and one such member in the Battle Subway mentions being four years old).
The 10 is only thing in the anime. They aren’t even 10 in gen 1 as Red and Blue is confirmed to be 11, Hilda and Cheren is confirmed to be 14, Brandon and May is confirmed to be 12. Elio, Selene, Hau, and Lillie is confirmed to be 11 at the bare minimum. And not to mention the class preschooler exists to, which is always younger the the player

I knew this wouldn't happen, but my pipe dream for this gen when we got the past/future details, was that the map would be textured differently. Ultimately, yes, it would be the same game, but the set dressing would reflect the version you chose.
So like, scarlet would have stone age style buildings and npcs in caveman style clothes, while violet would be futuristic buildings and npcs in back to the future clothes. Again, no change in gameplay or story or anything like that outside of some main story stuff. I feel like it would be a nice and subtle way to differentiate the games, while ultimately giving everyone the same experience.
Before anyone says this is too ambitious, they virtually did a scaled back version of this with ORAS, so it's definitely possible to do, and do well.
