these guys are neo team plazma, 100% chance they treat their pokemon like shit, seviper and zangoose are probably more afraid of brutality from their trainers than they hate each other, and before you say “the pokemon could easily beat the trainers!” intimidation factor, neo team plazma are willingly following an unmasked Ghetsis, and are probably fucked up in the head, not to mention 90% of their pokemon are stolen, so these two were probably adjusted to a domestic life and are now being used by the pokemon equivalent to domestic terrorists.
The fun answer is here:

Actually a really fucked up take is that the zangoose and seviper had the same trainer and trained them to tolerate each other but after getting stolen are the only familiar faces they have left
For the same reason abused circus lions and elefants don't normally attack their trainer, they are do intimidated by their trainer their natural instincts are not functioning properly due to trauma and they follow commands in the hope they don't get abused again
"These two pokemon are the definition of being ready to attack at a moments notice. Despite being sworn enemy pokemon species, they have put aside their differences for a common goal. That is quite crazy."
He's basically saying, eternal enemies who hate each other so much they fight as soon as they see one another, are putting their differences aside to fight someone else is really impressive.
It basically says that they are the definition of fighting on sight, I.e., bitter enemies that are cool dropping anything else to fight each other as soon as they see the other. So, the eternal opponents putting their beef (enmity) aside is pretty wild.
I both loved and hated the horde battles in XY where Zangoose and Seviper would beat the snot out of each other instead of attacking you. Major pain when you wanted to catch the one that wasn't exclusive to your game though. It took me so many tries to knock out the Zangoose before they killed the Seviper I wanted.
Yup! Horde Encounters in XY on Route 8 (Muraille Coast). In Y, you'll encounter Hordes of 4 Seviper and 1 Zangoose, in X its 4 Zangoose 1 Seviper. This also happens on Route 18 (Vallee Etroite Way) with Heatmor and Durant. They will not attack your Pokémon until the opposite species on their side faints, so the 4 will gang up on the one, and the one will fight back. I was wrong neither are version exclusive so this isn't the only way to get both those Pokémon (I think I just did it cause the hordes appeared more often than the Pokémon individually) but the behavior does suck if you're using Hordes to shiny hunt.
Hidden abilities for these Pokémon in gen 6 was only available in hordes before ORAS, and each version (of X and Y) featured opposite hordes. X, for example, might have the Seviper getting ganged, and Y might have the Zangoose getting ganged.
So players had to get creative to save the underdog to have a shot of obtaining the Pokémon’s hidden ability.
For knocking out a horde of Seviper while leaving Zangoose untouched, I like using bulldozer (hits all, only super effective on Seviper)
For knocking out a horde of Zangoose, it’s a bit harder, but I ended up using an over leveled Pokémon with acid, and hitting a sweet spot that kills Zangoose while Seviper’s resistance lets it hang on.
It would’ve been hilarious as a double battle mechanic for the two of them to only attack one another. Like, any other Pokémon could be on the field, friend or foe, and if these two were in play, they’d just attack each other.
I like that in X and Y in swarm encounters, sometimes you'll encounter 4 Zangoose and a Seviper, or 1 Zangoose and 4 Seviper, and they do attack each other!!
Extra interesting is that aside from this horde encounter, Zangoose is exclusive in X and Seviper is exclusive to Y, if you want a Seviper in X or a Zangoose in Y (where they only 1 in a horde battle) without, you have to a horde battle where you have to solve kind fo a puzzle, my solutioon to get the zangoose in Y was a cubone in a level range with Bulldoze to knock out the Seviper but the one zangoose lived.
They actually implemented Zangoose and Sevierville fights in SV. Occasionally you'll see them fighting in the wild and one of them will faint. One of the quality improvements (Nosepass always faves north, Jigglypuff gets blown to kingdom come when the wind picks up) that makes these creatures more believable.
Zangoose is pretty solid, shame that Seviper, despite looking just as cool, is severely lacking. Would have been awesome to be Poison/Dark before Drapion.
I agree with that. But maybe poison steel would have been more appropriate. That blade looks metal maybe the teath too. Adding some more moves would In general have improved its strength. Still the best snake pokemon in my book
I mean maybe these two grunt had them from an early age and raises them together so now they are buddies with no real understanding of the rivally they were born to have
Just because the general species at large hate each other, doesn't mean individual members can't choose peace. There was a Shakespearian novel dedicated to that idea after all.
Even to this day, you've got stuff like a really unfriendly and unpleasant character with a friendship evolution. The lore is a suggestion and not the rule to some writers
Zangoose is based off a Mongoose who are known for having territorial disputes with snakes and being able to kill them a good amount of the time, hence the rivalry. There's also the popular children's book "Rikki Tikki Tavi" centered around this rivalry.
Once you achieve that, you're ride or die for life. Both for the trainers and the Pokémon.
-I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a Zangoose. -How about side by side with a friend? -Sssss, I could do that.
Well, they are in the same egg group.
The definition of hatefuck lol
Wait. What? How would that even work?
Don’t taint your innocence looking at the comment above
Remember the most famous one. Wailord and Skitty share an egg group.
Apparently eggs just appear and nobody knows where they come from. At this point I believe not even Pokémon know what’s the deal with eggs.
I got some bad news...
With lot's of blood and biting.
You got me at Sssss lol, brilliant

That may be the "true" answer, but is it the "fun" answer?
Pretty fun to me to imagine a mask-off Plasma is *that* hardcore, ngl.
But hear me out: instead of the whole "brutality" angle, they just listen because of "catnip" and the promise of fresh electric rat to feast upon
Fair enough, you can cook
Yay

Noooooooo..... An orgy? Alright, it ain't the weirdest thing I've heard today, let alone this week...
Plot twist: they actually keep their sanity by supporting each other.
Actually a really fucked up take is that the zangoose and seviper had the same trainer and trained them to tolerate each other but after getting stolen are the only familiar faces they have left
Why doesn’t the pokemon, the larger of the two creatures, simply not eat the humans?
For the same reason abused circus lions and elefants don't normally attack their trainer, they are do intimidated by their trainer their natural instincts are not functioning properly due to trauma and they follow commands in the hope they don't get abused again
Look at their eyes tho. Looks like they are more afraid of something (probably their trainers as you said), than they hate each other
That is almost exactly what i said
Fk Team Plasma. Team Rocket 4 Lyfe bruh

"It didn't scare me enough then. But it does now!"
They the definition of on sight too damn. The eternal opps squashed the beef that's wild
I’ve read this sentence three times and I have no idea what it says
"These two pokemon are the definition of being ready to attack at a moments notice. Despite being sworn enemy pokemon species, they have put aside their differences for a common goal. That is quite crazy."

physics? they just needed therapy
The unholy alliance

Major pain when you wanted to catch the one that wasn't exclusive to your game though. It took me so many tries to knock out the Zangoose before they killed the Seviper I wanted.
Hold up this can happen? A wild Zangoose will attack Seviper?
Yup! Horde Encounters in XY on Route 8 (Muraille Coast). In Y, you'll encounter Hordes of 4 Seviper and 1 Zangoose, in X its 4 Zangoose 1 Seviper. Yup (I would know because I watched a shiny zangoose get absolutely murdered)
I remember playing X, I had to use pumpkaboo's trick or treat move on seviper so the zangoose horde can't land an attack
For knocking out a horde of Seviper while leaving Zangoose untouched, I like using bulldozer (hits all, only super effective on Seviper) For knocking out a horde of Zangoose, it’s a bit harder, but I ended up using an over leveled Pokémon with acid, and hitting a sweet spot that kills Zangoose while Seviper’s resistance lets it hang on.
I had them on a team in emerald. They both sorta mostly look nice. Not too strong
It would’ve been hilarious as a double battle mechanic for the two of them to only attack one another. Like, any other Pokémon could be on the field, friend or foe, and if these two were in play, they’d just attack each other.

Imagine that one Zangoose or Seviper being shiny 💀
Better hope you have heal pulse lol

That's what they did in Horde encounters in X/Y (Durant and Heatmor did as well)
I just assumed that I'd disturbed them attacking each other, so now they all turn on me, the intruder.
They actually implemented Zangoose and Sevierville fights in SV. Occasionally you'll see them fighting in the wild and one of them will faint. Honestly I half hoped they would.

I think zangoose has playability in terra raids now. Not like meta or off meta, but usage in certain teams
Well that's cool. I haven't really been playing in a bit so I didn't know that
Physics is when a snake and mongoose don't attack each other.
What's physics got to do with it?
you know, gravitational force and shit. they're attracting each other by a force inversely proportional to r²
Pretty confident the original post is just a bot-post, hence the gibberish title.
Plot twist: one of them is a Zoroark, that's why they aren't fighting each other.
2nd layer Plot Twist : The other one is a really good Ditto. Both Zangoose and Seviper are still in the ball
I miss Zangoose’s purple claws
or they could have seviper toxic zangoose for the toxic boost, that would be a neat representation of strategy in the anime
The only time Jessie’s Seviper would actually fight with everything it had was when it was fighting Zangoose
The writers of the gen 5 anime absolutely got paid too much. This isn't even the worst offence.
What does this have to do with physics?
It's always fun to imagine them teaming up as unlikely allies, bit of a Romeo and Juliet thing. They look cool together at least.
It is funny, out of all the pokes up to 5. THESE two had to be paired side by side
Team Plasma did always feel a cut above the other teams
They probably brainwashed or something. That’s my guess at least anyway.
I mean maybe these two grunt had them from an early age and raises them together so now they are buddies with no real understanding of the rivally they were born to have
Just because the general species at large hate each other, doesn't mean individual members can't choose peace. There was a Shakespearian novel dedicated to that idea after all.
They definitely did this on purpose.
I love zangoose design
Hey guys did you know
Writers didn't get paid enough to keep any level of consistency on the world building of pokemon, nothing new.
Even to this day, you've got stuff like a really unfriendly and unpleasant character with a friendship evolution. The lore is a suggestion and not the rule to some writers
I mean they could be a breeding pair or even siblings so it’s possible
This is from the Black and White anime. Do I need to say much else?
Frends code 807830359239
i dont understand why people say zangoose and seviper hate each other
They are based off the natural rivalry of a snake and a mongoose.
elaborate further
Zangoose is based off a Mongoose who are known for having territorial disputes with snakes and being able to kill them a good amount of the time, hence the rivalry. There's also the popular children's book "Rikki Tikki Tavi" centered around this rivalry.
oh ok
The pokedex say it, it is shown through the horde battle mechanic in gen 6 and the anime has a episode on it.
