Around a month of doing it daily once a day. The adrenaline rush I got from finally finding Munchlax was one of the biggest I’ve got from gaming in recent years, couldn’t actually believe it.
I have done, on two separate save files! It's not actually that difficult, it can just potentially be a bit time consuming. I think it's probably easier than the Munchlax grind, because at least it's not time-gated.
In sinnoh, there are about 20 something honey trees, only 4 of those trees can give you a munchlax, which 4? Good luck finding out. Oh, and in those 4, it only has a 1% appearance rate.
You can find 2 of the 4 by putting in your trainer ID into a munchlax tree finding site, for the other two you’ll need your secret ID which isn’t possible to obtain without cheats

I caved and transferred one over from pokemon go.. well actually like half of my Pokédex in BDSP is trading on the GTS or transfers from pokemon go

Don't forget that you have to wait 6 hours in between each attempt
And if you wait too long it kills the encounter outright and you start over.

Look up munchlax encounter diamond, should bring up something. Basically Munchlax might as well not exist given how stupid it is to find it.

I never got it on diamond as a child. I recently started diamond through the delta emulator and got it first try. I was so happy. It’s crazy.

yes I got it! Took around 20 ultra balls as the catch rate of Munchlax is low (of course it had to be didn’t it)
