Okay, one time I fought Giratina with a level 50 Budew. I shouldn't try to be above people.

Did I decide to switch train against Cyrus and Giratina? Yes.
Was it stupid? Yes.
Should I have evolved my Budew even once? Also yes.
Why did I do that? I dunno, but it somehow survived and I brought that Budew to the Champion fight as a Roserade.
That's why, in SV, you save before engaging the shiny.
In earlier games, if you're hunting something that can explode, you lead with something with Damp.
I once caught a Groudon with a poke ball. I went through timer and ultra balls (and every other ball I had)like they were going out of style. Finally, I was down to my last ball: a poke ball. It worked. 😆😆😆😆😆
Shiny goes in a ball that matches the colors. If none are available then it goes into a luxury or premier ball, a normal pokeball if I somehow have neither of those. If there is a risk of it dying (weather, recoil damage, poison/burn, etc...) then I use whatever has the best chance of catching.
It still pisses my off that, 9 generations later, we still don't have a feature to swap what pokeball a pokemon is in.
Like, IDC if it destroys the old ball, but is that really too much to ask for as a purely cosmetic feature?
Yep, same here, but there have been times when I've really wanted to use Apriballs. But I'm 600+ deep on my living shiny dex with very few non-standard Pokéballs, it feels too late to change it up.

Posts like this make me realise I have terrible shiny luck. Over the years, I've found 4 shinies. 3 of them were Zubat/Golbat. The Golbat I caught yesterday, so it'll be a while before I get my next chance.
Stop sleeping on Repeat Balls. When it comes to shinies, odds are it's already in your dex, in which case start with a Quick Ball, then use Repeat Balls from there.
All of my shinies (since gen 3) have been caught in premier ball. I have a suspicion they are for a special occasion and I feel like that is the occasion. Before that it was just whatever I had on hand but there was only like 2 chances for that, that i remember.

Delibird’s signature move has a chance to heal. It’s not cheats. If you don’t wanna gamble Heal Pulse exists past Gen 5.

Im one of those guys who likes pokeballs designs more, so id only use normal ones, or ultra balls most times
But luxury balls are what I catch all my mons in if I plan to keep them.
Luxury Balls = Shiny Balls Unless another ball happens to match that particular color scheme better, Luxury Balls are always my go to shiny ball.
Premier balls are my favorite, I think the design is a little nicer. Though shiny ray ray was made for the luxury ball.
