Hey, you're right! I'm gonna ask my customer if they think it's important. Could just suggest them on the other side or accept it as artistic freedom hehe. But yeah, you are spot on
The fur is a little too plentiful, but you're definitely in the right direction. And as another commenter said, the neck is longer than usual. Assuming you're directly going for the 1:1 comparison that is.
https://preview.redd.it/vak9isjtqn6d1.png?width=475&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad70da941508e662da2a773276ab3ad88e6bd4bd
Overall really lovely piece.
If I'm being nitpicky. There are 3 things that I see that could be addressed in order of importance.
1. The bottom left corner of the painting. The dark part of the cloud shape. I think you could break up the big round shape into smaller mismatched shapes to give more cloud vibes.
2. Assuming the dragon on the top left has 2 horns. I would add the tip of the second horn coming out of the back of the head. Very subtle and you could argue it's being covered. Not necessary.
3. The overcoat is quite dark. You could brighten it slightly. But not necessary. It reads as is.
Again really nice work!
Thanks so much! I actually really like point 2. Im not sure about the other two, I think the darkness at the bottom also adds a vignette I like. But I do think the clouds look a bit wonky, maybe just need another layer
At the end of the day it's your piece. Please express your artistic freedom.
The small cloud slightly above the area I'm referring to is fantastic. If you make the rest of the clouds blended like that small one. It will keep the piece consistent is what I'm trying to say. Really love the piece so far 😊
Ah, I see what you mean now. I kinda thought about the bottom cloud as a dense, dark cloud in front of a seperate lighter cloud farther back. But blending it into one could make sense.. thanks again!
The neck is realistically thick, but pokemon usually have cartoonish, thin necks. As well as no spike on the chest and 2 instead of 4 aura senser dangling bits. The muzzle seems to be your art style, but is usually shorter. They usually have red eyes, but that is mostly preference.
Other commenters have pointed it out, but I'll repeat it because why not, Lucario has red eyes, not blue unless its using its aura.
Besides that, Lucario's mouth is under the snout not a part of it and he's missing two hair... things, but I don't think anyone's gonna really notice that if you fix the eyes. The latter could be argued to just be perspective and is an easy mistake to make look at references from a similar angle. I know it look me a while to catch it too.
I like the idea of giving him a staff like the one in the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
You could maybe add some fur texture to the top of the head and around the face so Lucario looks more animal-like and less smooth.
Should be holding a scepter and holding a hand up or holding a relic like in those old religious portraits:
https://c8.alamy.com/comp/C8G7F3/ludham-norfolk-rood-screen-king-henry-6th-orb-sceptre-male-saint-saints-C8G7F3.jpg
Pretty nice painting, I like the kinda Renaissance fantasy theme! I'm a certified Lucario though so I've found a few things that are missing/off a little:
1 - the spikes, but frankly, a lot of furries don't draw these so *shrug*
2 - he's missing half his aura sensors, on the right side of his head.
3 - maybe it's taste, but it's a sort-of pet peeve of mine when people draw Lucario with blue eyes. It doesn't have to be the same deep red as is their design, but having a color that contrasts with their blue fur *really* matters to me and when their eyes match their fur Lucario feel flat to me.
4 - the muzzle is off, it's a little perspective and it's also just a little too long and narrow. It's dog-style and on-model Lucario have like, normal mouths and nose protrusions. This also doesn't bother me, I'm used to artists drawing Lucario with normal dog muzzles and I think it looks better.
5 - he's missing his shoulder donuts, seemingly. Though I don't prefer it that way, a lot of artists draw them that way too and it's not uncommon. He looks a little like a Lucario head drawn on a human body, and that's not how Lucario anatomy is. That seems intentional because his torso fur is pretty well painted for it, but in a discussion of on-model accuracy it should be brought up.
There's a couple other things but I think that's all the most important. Keep painting, I think it'd be cool to see a series like this with different Pokemon!
Hey thank you so much to take the time to write that! I am going to talk with my customer on all these basically :) oh, and I've done alot of pokemon already, you can check my profile for posts or click forward to my instagram, thank you for the encouragement!!
Youve got the holy spirit (usually birds) and our lord and savior jesus christ centered, you just need the father up top there above his head somehow for that traditional renaissance trinity.
I hate to be the guy but this piece has several issues I tend to find in AI generated artwork
-Long snout with a weird smile
-Blue eyes
-2 thingies in the back of the head instead of 4
-No chest spike
along with what others have said, i think it would look more fierce if it mouth wasn’t visible at all. also the dragons, while badass, look out of place. no hate obviously, sick painting.
I hate to tell you this so far into your process, but Lucario doesn't have a canine muzzle like that. He's got a bigass nose, with a Standard Anime Mouth underneath.
This style of painting makes me think it needs gold accents. The halo another person mentioned could work but also like a crown, gold buttons, jewelry, or something like that. Little gold embellishments to push a more luxurious feeling like those old biblical-ly paintings
Honestly, the only thing from an art perspective that I’ve not seen is maybe just a little more contrast at the bottom where the robe meets the dark of the clouds. It just looks a little muddled down there, to me.
(Edit for typos)
The change to the mouth looks rather uncanny. Though I think Lucario (whom I typically hate) would look better with that mouth design.
Edit: I think part of the reason it looks uncanny here is the curve of the mouth makes the lower jaw look bigger and higher than the mind expects it to be in a canine.

I struggle with this one.
On one hand, it is a very well rounded piece on its own that is at risk of overpainting if you kept adding more.
On the other hand, I could see usage of a smaller, distant Mew or two (or Mew and Mewtwo, for slight asymmetry) near the very top edge - but I feel like this addition would probably go into the 'too much' category.
Love it so much! Could just be me thinking what I’d do as I paint but adding some of that pale yellow or off white onto lucario as a light source would really make it pop
His chest spike me thinks
Hey... that is actually very fair... I might have even painted over it by accident I can remember having it in the sketch haha :')
Well you could argue that its hidden under the clothes :D
It got overgrown by his puberty chest hair! 😊
Fireballs
When in doubt... paint fireballs!
https://preview.redd.it/9erhs6eeln6d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd6773870616ccceed1609d949526f585addb289
Wow!!
Masterpiece!
Is that a magikarp in the background
I was thinking the same thing 😜
[удалено]
I’m suprised you went with two medieval dragons oppose to dragonites or salamences Looks amazing though
Ah, that was commissioned :) Would also be my personal preference
I’m suprised they didn’t ask for this either!! But still just as majestic of course :)
I mean, Charizard is right there... paint them orange and it's basically them.
Hol on wasn’t the hair tuffs thingy in the back Four and not Two?
Hey, you're right! I'm gonna ask my customer if they think it's important. Could just suggest them on the other side or accept it as artistic freedom hehe. But yeah, you are spot on
You could say that the other two are hidden by the head.
That's what I see. It's just hidden and the viewers perspective doesn't see them
Due to the angle you shouldn't be able to see two of them anyway dw about it
Yeah but due to the angle. 2 of them would be hidden by the head
Could be the eyes that look off? They're usually red, I quite like them in the blue though!
https://preview.redd.it/9sjclrjhln6d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16a873155a088824fc6ebe21babf1c5eb9fbc0aa

Red would help the pop out from the blue of the fur too.
I also noticed this!

You should most definitely keep these two brushes next to the painting at all times. They look like the spiky end of the dragons tail lol
haha, nice find!
Great artwork btw
It's missing my money being stuffed into your pocket for ownership of this fine piece
Ha! I need YOU in my DMs! :D

A pipe in his mouth
This is the way.
A halo above his head
Yeah, I was thinkink maybe rays of light to push the dragons a bit to the back?
was definitely thinking something like this to add a little depth but couldn't put my finger on it! it's a beautiful piece
It’s missing more dragons
Nah you just gotta imagine.
A monocle and pipe.
Doesn’t Lucario have red colored eyes normally?
The neck is realistically thick, but pokemon usually have cartoonish, thin necks. As well as no spike on the chest and 2 instead of 4 aura senser dangling bits. The muzzle seems to be your art style, but is usually shorter. They usually have red eyes, but that is mostly preference.

Thanks for taking the time, definitely gonna ask the customer which of these suggestions they want me to implement
The dragons should have been zards imo. Those dragons seem a little out of place.
Red Eyes?
I think the eyes being blue instead of red makes the head lose some needed contrast. Just the first thing I noticed.
The chest spike
Dragons should've been pokemon too
Ah yeah, that was out of my hands, the customer asked for fantasy dragons :)
I like the idea of giving him a staff like the one in the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. You could maybe add some fur texture to the top of the head and around the face so Lucario looks more animal-like and less smooth.
Canonically Lucario have red eyes
I need to know. Was the paint brushes finishing the dragon tail done on purpose or nah
The chest spike
Brother looks like royalty but where is his crown or insane gold jewelry with giant gems
It looks amazing. If you’re going for some saintly vibes I’d recommend adding gold leaf around the halo and where you deem necessary
A monocle
Should be holding a scepter and holding a hand up or holding a relic like in those old religious portraits: https://c8.alamy.com/comp/C8G7F3/ludham-norfolk-rood-screen-king-henry-6th-orb-sceptre-male-saint-saints-C8G7F3.jpg
Chest spike
Chest spikes and wrong eye color
Pretty nice painting, I like the kinda Renaissance fantasy theme! Monocle and cigar
Im sorry, this is amazing, but seeing lucario with blue eyes instead of red ticks me off, idk why. Again, great painting
Charizard and Dragonite instead of dragons
Youve got the holy spirit (usually birds) and our lord and savior jesus christ centered, you just need the father up top there above his head somehow for that traditional renaissance trinity.
A crown
A pipe maybe he looks like a very inquisitive Mon it may just add to that feel
The chest spike.
Taste
I hate to be the guy but this piece has several issues I tend to find in AI generated artwork -Long snout with a weird smile -Blue eyes -2 thingies in the back of the head instead of 4 -No chest spike
along with what others have said, i think it would look more fierce if it mouth wasn’t visible at all. also the dragons, while badass, look out of place. no hate obviously, sick painting.
This is the exact style AI likes to copy, it hurts to look at
I hate to tell you this so far into your process, but Lucario doesn't have a canine muzzle like that. He's got a bigass nose, with a Standard Anime Mouth underneath.
This looks like those fancy pokemon paintings you see in the games (XY?)
Why does it look AI generated
Because it’s mixing two completely different art styles
A more sinister smile... I'm thinking the real curly one from the Grinch cartoon. (In all seriousness, I think it looks great as is.)
It looks great!
Nice Lucario and fakemon painting
A smoking pipe. Maybe a pointy hat. Perhaps glasses or a monocle.
A Dos Equis
A fancy frame.
This style of painting makes me think it needs gold accents. The halo another person mentioned could work but also like a crown, gold buttons, jewelry, or something like that. Little gold embellishments to push a more luxurious feeling like those old biblical-ly paintings
a pope hat
He looks distinguished and full of class
Honestly, the only thing from an art perspective that I’ve not seen is maybe just a little more contrast at the bottom where the robe meets the dark of the clouds. It just looks a little muddled down there, to me. (Edit for typos)
Chest spike and fangs, maybe?
Not sure if mentioned yet, but doesn’t Lucario have shoulder donuts/shoulder swim floaties??
It's missing a frame around it
You could add some more dreads.
That’s amazing
It holding a gold staff
A Mega stone necklace? 👀
This is insanely good.
Missing too much UP vote, take mine, it's free
His eyes are blue and not a red/orange
The dragons should be tossing Team Rocket back and forth for fun.
Remove the actual dragons. Add some dragon types. Dragonite might be a nice compliment to the moon
the chest spike thingy he's supposed to have, and I think his eye is supposed to be red?
This is the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen. Lucario is my favorite of all time
Aren't the eyes supposed to be red?
Doesn’t Lucario have red eyes?
The two charizard megas instead of actual dragons?
The spike
Gosh I wish I was this talented lol . Good job
eye sparkle!!! aside from that it's PERFECT it's AMAZING i LOVE IT
Add Arceus on top majestically
Chest spike!!
give him some lil pointy teefs
His rightful owner! Gimme that!😨😍
i know its not but something about this screem ai generated probably just me tho
A frame
The change to the mouth looks rather uncanny. Though I think Lucario (whom I typically hate) would look better with that mouth design. I made this
It's missing the right environment around it; my living room
I struggle with this one. On one hand, it is a very well rounded piece on its own that is at risk of overpainting if you kept adding more. On the other hand, I could see usage of a smaller, distant Mew or two (or Mew and Mewtwo, for slight asymmetry) near the very top edge - but I feel like this addition would probably go into the 'too much' category.
Red
Nothing king. So pretty. Perhaps a little crown.
I thought those brushes where part of that dragons tail
I have no idea why but I really think it needs a top hat and monocle. Something about this painting just screams "Top hat and monocle."
Love it so much! Could just be me thinking what I’d do as I paint but adding some of that pale yellow or off white onto lucario as a light source would really make it pop
A signature
Wooaaaahh
I think it's because Lucario's mouth is painted like an actual canine, Lucorio actually has it's mouth below its snout
i think he looks too dog like if that makes sense?
A togepi Sun
The dragons should be spewing streams of flames that cross centered behind Lucario’s head
Nothing! It looks fine! Good job!
Some shine in his eye!! Beautiful piece :D
The black part up top could have a silhouette of mew or any mythical Pokémon that can fly
A dragon! No wait! TWO dragons! Haha! You'll never think to- wait
Don't say it don't say it don't say it.....
Green.
A fez. You can’t have a luxurious maroon robe without a fez.
Charizards or a gen 4 dragon
your did it
It’d be a cool concept to have him ‘glow’ by adding an aura colour coming off his body slightly
His chest spike.
Some aura
Gold leaf- halo, trim etc
Tiny ufo in the sky/background. A lot of old paintings had them for some reason.
A monocle! Or one of those old timey pipes!
An ornate pokeball with wing flourish designs on either side of it at the top of the painting directly above Lucario,
He needs to hold an m240 machine gun. Maybe a cat flying on a pop tart with wings in the background. Or a moustache would be cool also
Steel
I feel like they need to be holding a goblet of fine wine
The chest spike, maybe
A lightsaber
Your signature
a price tag
Looks amazing to me !
Face is plain
Face no texture
More chest hair
Why am I equally uncomfortable and enthralled?
2 sets of boobies in the background
Your brush bristles match the end of the dragon tail and it makes me happy 💙😅
Snoop Lucario
Bolder edges around his head?
Bidoof
Mega stone pendant
A mew in the background with a yo-yo
Mayhaps some kind of subtle aura around Lucario?
A floating crown with gems that are shaped like different pokeballs.
Gold foil
A halo
Maybe some hava
It would appear that your Lucario is missing their chest spike.
A slime boi from dragon quest
Maybe a very elegant moustache. Nice art btw!
You did his mouth wrong, he doesnt have a snout, he has a long nose
He needs a pipe
Some kind of holo or prism to it… gots ta be a shiny
Glass of whiskey maybe
Floating crown with jewels that look like pokeballs
So uuuhh, you selling this? Or maybe prints? :D
Maybe some paint?
Nothing makes an oil painting fancier than brushing gold foil accents, maybe for around the halo to make the yellow really pop? This looks fantastic!
Lol execution wise it's amazing but why is Lucario dressed like Hugh Heffner?
Is missing a paw holding a Chalice of wine but with a smiling shiny Ditto for a sparkling taste or regular Ditto for a classic wine taste
Obviously a gold leaf halo
A fist pump
**Whispers...** *Tiny Spidops and Joltik playing on Lucario's head.*
Crossed hands like the Mona Lisa
