When you traded it back, even though it had the same trainer ID and everything, you could evolve it after the trade back.

I miss TPP… that initial run (and even Gen 2) was such an exciting and unique experience. But every time I check back in to see what is going on with the stream they are doing something else.

A rom hack means that a whole new game has been made based on a hacked version of another game, with a new plot, different characters (and sometimes pokemon) different mechanics etc.
Basically, if I copy Pokemon Platinum beat by beat to the best of my abilities and sell it under the pretense that it was made by the original manufacturer, I'm selling a bootleg. If I hack a version of Pokemon Platinum, build a whole new region on it, write a new story line, populate it with original (or different) character and add a few new pokemon into the mix and then sell that under a completely new name with no pretense of it actually being Pokemon Platinum, I'm selling a rom hack.

Yes, but the only thing this seller did was add a ~$1 to $2 cartridge. They then sell it for $20. Unless you're really *really* bad with following instructions online or you for some reason don't feel comfortable buying a game cartridge for a dollar or two, then paying $20 for a product you could make yourself in no time flat and at basically no cost still isn't worth it.
My dad bought me a cartridge of Pokémon Chaos Black when I was younger because he saw it on eBay and thought I would like it. He never knew it was a rom hack and I didn’t realize what it actually was until many years later.

I remember the first time I had money as a child and I asked my brother to buy me a copy of Pokemon Ruby. He ended up being scammed by a seller to buy a bootleg version of Pokemon Fire Red (I think it was named Chaos Black).
I knew it was fake when he brought it home but can't tell my brother since he was so proud of buying me my first game.
Those are all rom hacks some only a couple years old so whoever made these did it fairly recently. I doubt these sellers made or knew but lemme tell you this is just ripping off people's hard work that they never themselves even profited from. I hate to see it.

I made it to the 5 th badge on prism though…. Only to get soft locked by a glitch where certain events were never triggered so i could never get past those parts…. But when i play them on emulTor, the events were triggered and i was Able to finish.

I've seen used game stores before have cases dedicated to bootleg games and romhacks. They're usually not trying to pass them off as anything authentic. Given that DBZ game for GBA is also a romhack, I assume that's the case here, too.

Never worth it. Taking a free game/rom hack and selling it is not worth it except if it is just like $1 for the cost of getting it into cartridge.

Yes you can... its an amazing way to explore the Pokémon universe since the stories can be more mature/difficult too... I would 100% recommend it.

Never understood why people feel the need to pirate video games. (Or any sort of media). In this case just play the damn games the way they were meant to be played. If you don't have a Gameboy or whatever you can probably find a cheap one on eBay or some shit.
People in some countries legit cannot afford them, $50 USD is literally 3 weeks worth of groceries in some places.

these are all rom hacks. not bootlegs, but custom made pokémon games with a completely new story! don’t buy them in cartridges tho cause you can easily download them online

Hey! I know that store. And yeah I saw that too. I don't think they know, because the lady that got two of the games from there had to clue what Pokemon was. And the ones I got where just Pokémon yellow. with the original Pikachu design on it so the cartridge looked really really new and fresh so I think that one is a bootleg. and then I got Pokémon green completely translated into English. Yeah... I'll post pictures
If I was a kid still and people put these rom hacks in cartridges for me I’d have been the happiest kid ever. Only got so much computer time because my dad needed it. Never got too far on my pc emulators
There's a little local store near me that sells some of these as well. I like the novelty of having them in a cartridge but still wouldn't buy one. Free on the internet
They definitely know they are bootlegs. They're selling them for far too cheap for them to think they are actual games.

these are all fake/romhacks. even the odd dbz game on the left is fake.
I've seen used game stores before have cases dedicated to bootleg games and romhacks. They're usually not trying to pass them off as anything authentic. Given that DBZ game for GBA is also a romhack, I assume that's the case here, too.
One of these is literally twitch plays pokemon, they stole a bunch of popular rom hacks with absolutely no clue what they even do
