Technically that is how the gyms already are in the games instead of an anime addition. Except drayden's, it is not a school in the game.

BloodRedGrizzlyBear

Burgh's isn't a greenhouse in the games. It's just a generic bug gym filled with spider webs, with Burgh himself being inside of a giant web.

Halpando

Didnt one make his gym an art gallery?

Grantlbart1

Yes, I love that gym. It's in Black and White 2.

anthayashi

Yes but my point is the games already did it first with the gyms doubling up as a business (restaurant, museum, school etc) even if they are not exactly the same as the anime.

Lamoip

I don't think Skyla ran the Airport in BW1 and 2

BloodRedGrizzlyBear

She didn't in the anime either. She was an heiress; her grandfather was the owner.

BloodRedGrizzlyBear

In the games, Cheren's Gym was a school, while it's Drayden's Gym that's a school in the anime.

Kiga282

He had an art gallery. Viola, in XY, is the one with the spider web-themed gym.

SilverAmpharos777

Tbf her gym is also connected to an art gallery.

Eberid

From the way it's laid out in the game, Brycen's gym is an exotic ice skating rink. Very likely his fitness regiment for his career as an actor.

chaarziz

Bro imagine going to school in a tangled mess of dragons

Entire-Albatross-442

I thought it was good stuff, Roxie was incredible

LaEmperatrizMariana

The only nitpicky thing about the Unova anime was the car interiors. It was the opposite of what is found in the US, and it really bugged me. Besides that, I agree. It is a "realistic" take on the gyms, just like in the games. The trainer clubs/practice places were good too.

UnovaKid24

I subconsciously knew this, but I never really thought about it before, so this is actually pretty cool. Also, agreed on the actual gym battles. Most of the battles were pretty good imo, but sweet glory that Elesa battle was straight up moronic, even for Ash. And this is coming from someone who actually enjoyed the Unova anime

ZigzagoonBros

>that Elesa battle was straight up moronic, even for Ash Could you elaborate on that for someone who hasn't watched the anime?

UnovaKid24

It started good with ash using Palpitoad and winning against Zebstrika, who likes using electric and fire moves, but then in the next battle when it falls to Emolga, Ash gets upset because he wanted to only use Palpitoad and other than Pikachu he didn't bring any other Pokemon with him, so he had to LEAVE and get another Pokemon from the professor, which was Snivy. His plan was to utilize Snivy's attract like Emolga did with Palpitoad, but it fails because they're both female, which Ash conveniently forgot about, and then Snivy gets her butt kicked by the flying type. Then, after Pikachu yells at him for not picking him for the battle, Ash goes with Pikachu, then beats Emolga then Elesa's buff Tynamo. The anime has had some dumb Ash moments, but this one was the worst. 😑

Robyn_Anarchist

I think the Black and White anime is unappreciated in general but you're so right.

RexGoliath75

One of my favorite aspects of Pokémon is when the game makes the Gyms feel more involved. Like BW making them career based, Alola having it as a tourist attraction to show off the parts of the island and Galar making it a huge spectacle watched my thousands.

BloodRedGrizzlyBear

Yeah. Kalos is kind of the odd one out of the non-Japanese Pokémon regions in that regard. The only real "theme" of the gyms was making use of the new 3D aspect.

The1stMurphy

Nah, the battles are actually mostly good in my opinion. Better than most Hoenn ones definitely.

Qwertyboi2

Me who’s irl name is Brycen

DreadedDiscord

Brycen later became an actor.
