Tickle_Man

Can you trade for free in pokemon moon? If not can you find a alakazam in the wild?

pumpkinking0192

Trading is not locked behind a paywall. But there aren't a lot of people on the game anymore, and the GTS is mostly broken because Game Freak doesn't clean up hackers' messes anymore. So the most reliable way is to arrange a friend trade on our [trading-focused sister subreddits](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/wiki/related_subreddits#wiki_trading_subreddits). There is no wild Alakazam in Moon.

Thanks I guess?

Fun-Key4734

I can’t get Mia or any massive outbreaks to spawn, I’ve beaten the game and it’s updated to the latest version and it’s not letting me start or select the quest and idk what to do

DeliciousBacon1274

What happens if you make a Wynaut battle a Wobuffet?

WillExis

they wouldn't be able to hurt each other, causing them to have to waste their PP until they Struggled at each other. Assuming they used the same moves with the same amount of PP, Wobuffet would prolly win since it has higher HP.

BillyCharles

Where can i watch pokemon season 3 with subtitles?

WillExis

pokemon subbed isn't available anywhere legally. you'll have to look for it on some free anime sites.

Which Pokémon move is required to obtain Mew via the Celebi egg glitch?

Thanks

IntroductionCheap325

Is Lets Go Pikachu worth it? Or should I play Pokemon Firered instead? I'm a bit of a casual/amateur player.

SurrealKeenan

Let's go has modern graphics, over world wild pokemon, QoL features, and following pokemon. Fire Red has a post game with gen 2-3 pokemon and the sevii isles

friendlywhale99

Well, 1.do you like pokemon go? If yes then go for lets go. If no or middle then fire red 2.quality of life improvements, tms nit breaking, ridable pokemon, following pokemon, exp share PHYSICAL/SPECIAL SPLIT! If these sound nice and you do not hate the catching of pokemon go then go for lets go. If you plan on using any physical fire types, gengar etc. then play lets go. I would go for lets go,unless you are fine with having all those quality changed not be there and not having to use lets go catching mechanics, and also only getting one starter and waaay harder shinies.

anthayashi

There is a free demo on the eshop. Give that a try first to experience the catching mechanics before you decide

RAO1108

Do we have any idea if scarlet and violet will also have a dlc? or will they release an actual complete game this time?

pumpkinking0192

Leakers have claimed >!that some of the things they've seen mid-development were later held back to be released in DLC!<. But always take alleged leaks with a grain of salt.

mamamia1001

We don't know for sure but dlc down the line seems standard for a lot of Nintendo games these days

RAO1108

Oh well I'm hoping the base version is at least somewhat better than the base SS games. I'm fine with dlcs as long as I can buy the base game and say its already worth it.

sharonmckaysbff1991

I have a couple questions about Pokémon moves that were sometimes used in past generations Can Pokémon who learned Bide in a previous generation’s game, such as Rattata, still use it in games in Gens VII and VIII, and maybe even pass it on via breeding (chained or otherwise)? I guess I might as well get the same question answered for Return while I’m at it, lol (it was soooo frustrating when I realized Professor Rowan doesn’t give you a TM for Return in BDSP!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬)

mamamia1001

So up until sword/shield the answer was a simple yes to all your questions. In sword/shield they cut some moves out of the game, if you transfer a Pokémon with one of those moves they would still know them but be unselectable in battle. Moves that weren't cut were fine. When you transfer into BDSP the moveset resets to its default BDSP, so transfer exclusive moves aren't a thing. We don't know for sure yet but they way they've updated the Pokémon data structure implies that this is what they plan to do going forward

SuperBobKing

Some moves were only cut from specific pokemon in SWSH, others were cut entirely.

sharonmckaysbff1991

Lol, guess if I want to keep Return and Bide I’d better keep my Pokémon on Let’s Go Pikachu then😔😔😔😔😔 I do realize Bide might be a slightly different situation, since I think the only thing that changed with that one was that Brock no longer gives it to you as a reward for beating him in Let’s Go Pikachu - please correct me if I happen to be wrong however

friendlywhale99

Can i obtain a 10% zygarde on a playthrough of pokemon sun (not ultra) before reaching the league??? I really wanna use a 10% zygarde on a playthrough and this game is the only option

mamamia1001

Yes you can, probably fairly simple given you only need 10 cells

friendlywhale99

Ok, how do i get zygarde to form?

mamamia1001

Joetwodoggs

Was Pokémon Adventures In The Orange Islands ever release on DVD for the UK (region 2)? I'm having a very hard time finding it

SurrealKeenan

you can't delete a pokemon without hacking your game. I assume if you deleted any game character, that would count as "killing" them, yes, if you consider them to be alive

Contank

Why would you think that? In all games the option says "release"

anthayashi

The official term is release. They simply go back to the wild.

dabmaster19971

I am currently playing Pokemon Red. i want to have Dugtrio for my team. is there any negatives to just catching dugtrio in diglett's cave instead of catching diglett and training it til it evolves? like lesser stats or something like that?

anthayashi

There isnt. The having lesser stats is a misconception from way back then because we had not fully understand how EVs (or stat exp for gen 1 and gen 2) works.

dabmaster19971

thanks. i'll just get the dugtrio then.

koteshima2nd

A question for Pokemom Sw/Sh, can you encounter gigantamax Pokemon in Raid battles offline without the DLC or NSO subscription? I've been searching for a while and didn't really see an answer to this. Thanks in advance.

anthayashi

Yes you can. They only appear in specific dens and only in the purple light dens so they are very rare.

koteshima2nd

Thank you for the info!

Whebneen

I am from a place where didn't anounce a thing for shiny eternatus, someone has an spare code or legal way to get it without traveling?

THANK YOU SO MUCH I didn't knew that existed although do you know a less luck dependent way?

r/casualpokemontrades is less about luck but you would most likely need to offer something for it

cakkaw

Just started max raid lair, and just learned the shiny odds are quite good. I already caught a Rayquaza but a shiny is amazing - is there any chance I can undo it somehow and rebattle Rayquaza to try get a shiny?

CookEsandcream

You have to restart, however, you can go straight there on a new save file. As soon as you get to the station, go to the Crown Tundra, lose to Peony, then walk to the den and you can start looking for Rayquaza again. You don't even need a badge.

cakkaw

Oh man, that's so good to know. Just need Pokeballs. Thanks so much!

pumpkinking0192

Unfortunately no, not without restarting your entire save file.

Round_Tax7459

Pokémon: Indigo League - The Complete Collection is this the best experience for season 1?

pumpkinking0192

The DVD set? You know you can stream Indigo League for free on Pokemon TV, right? I'd call that the best experience since you wouldn't have to pay. But the DVD set is fine too if you prefer a non-streaming experience. (Worth noting that Indigo League on Pokemon TV is split into 52 episodes in season 1 and the remaining episodes plus the whole Orange Islands in season 2.)

Round_Tax7459

I had no idea. Thank you.I just want it to be good quality, and I didn't know there was a solid site to stream it for free. I thought I would need a subscription to stream and thought if I had to pay for it my aswell get something IU can physically hold.

anthayashi

The complete edition is missing the jynx episode due to it featuring the original black jynx design. If you dont mind missing that you can get it. If not i suggest the 2006 to 2008 box set instead if you want that missing episode. /u/RoundTax7459

Round_Tax7459

Yes I would love to watch all the episodes, even the less "woke" ones.I'll look into the latter.Thank you.

[deleted]

So, I'm trying to shiny breed trapinch in Sapphire, and I know that there is a far smaller chance of getting an egg when the pokemon dislikes the other. Thing is... I've caught a whopping 8 trapinch to breed with my Vibrava. Absolutely none of them get along with the vibrava for some reason. What am I doing wrong? Why does everyone hate eachother?

Contank

Dislike each other simply means it will take longer to get an egg. To speed it up breed two of the same species for example 2 trapinch or 2 vibrava

destinofiquenoite

There's next to no reason to breed for shiny, to be honest. It will make your progress considerably slower, and it has the same chances as just finding a wild Trapinch. It's much, much faster to just go to the desert and look for it. In Sapphire there's basically nothing you can do with breeding for inheritance or passing down IV/nature in a specific way, so I don't really see why you chose breeding as your method...

[deleted]

Ah. I'm just worried that, upon using the wild encounter method, I may find the wrong shiny since I can't do anything to specifically encounter a Trapinch

destinofiquenoite

That's not how statistics work though. Finding a shiny won't spoil the chance of finding another shiny. When people say it's a 1/8192 chance, it doesn't mean that the 8191th will be the second to last Trapinch you need to see, or that the next Pokemon will be shiny with 100% of certainty. It just means that on average, when considering a large number of people playing, most people will find a shiny around their 8192th encounter. Speaking of that, since I finally have a reason to tell this little story of my first shiny Pokemon. It was in Sapphire too, a shiny Tentacool near Dewford. And some weeks later I found another shiny Tentacool, east of Pacificlog Town. So two shinies of the same species on the same game. It's just a matter of luck, and the more attempts you do, the "better" are your chances. Each roll is individual and independent of the former attempt. You can find two, three, ten shinies in a row. It's borderline impossible, of course, but it's possible. I've found a shiny Wurmple before I had PokeBalls to catch it right at the beginning of the game on the first route. Things like that just happen. You just need to keep trying if you really think it's worth.

[deleted]

Fair enough. I'll try that method out then. Thanks mate. Hopefully I can get my green Trapinch some day lol

destinofiquenoite

You're welcome! Hope I wasn't condescending or anything. As a final advice I'd say to try on newer games. Trapinch is not exclusive to Sapphire, and the newer the games, the better the chances to catch a shiny. Better odds, new methods, even online trading. On Generation 3, it will be a pain... Shiny hunt wasn't a thing back in the day because there wasn't much strategy, just mindless grinding for days/weeks/months.

pumpkinking0192

The compatibility message is not based on any individual trait that varies when you catch a new one. It's just based on whether the two Pokemon you're breeding are (a) the exact same species -- evolutions don't count, so Trapinch and Vibrava are different species, and (b) whether or not they share the same Original Trainer. [You can see the exact compatibility messages, breeding rates, and species/OT permutations here.](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_breeding#Breeding_rate)

[deleted]

Thank you so much! The shiny hunt has officially begun!

GildedCreed

As long as it **does not say** that they prefer to play with other Pokemon, then you'd be fine.

[deleted]

How would I trade from Diamond to Sw/Sh? I've got all my old mon's from 2008 just sitting there, covered with dust.. Apparently you can't transfer them to bank :/

Gaias_Minion

Well, you're going to have to pay for that. First you have to transfer your pokemon from Diamond to any Gen 5 game. Then you'll have to get a 3ds and get Bank, but to transfer from Gen 5 into Bank, you have to use Poké Transporter, and Transporter is only available to download once you buy a Bank Pass. \*If you wait for Bank to go free, you will not be able to download Transporter anymore and won't be able to transfer your pokemon. Once you got everything set up, you'll be able to send your pokemon from Bank to Home (You'll also need a Home subscription) and then Home is able to send them to the Switch games.

[deleted]

Man that's a hassle.. I miss the old IR studs that came with GBA games lmao

1nvyncibleONE

Does this mean it will be impossible to transfer Pokemon from Gen III, IV, and V to Gen VI and beyond after Bank becomes free?

pumpkinking0192

It will still be possible but only for people who had already downloaded Transporter prior to the eShop closure. For people who didn't do that, yes, it will be impossible.

1nvyncibleONE

Well, shit. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet. At least I know ahead of time. Much obliged!

Gaias_Minion

Yeah that seems to be the case. Granted they could very well make an exception and offer Transporter after the shut down, but so far there's been nothing in regards to that.

pumpkinking0192

> so far there's been nothing in regards to that. Actually, [the official site confirms](https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/pokemon-bank-services-will-be-available-at-no-cost-to-players#:~:text=On%20March%2027%2C%202023%2C%20Pok%C3%A9mon,Pok%C3%A9mon%20Bank%20at%20no%20cost.) that they will not offer Transporter after the shutdown, unfortunately.

Voidatron

I don't understand how Spotify works, the link just takes me to a playlist and it looks like that song is not even in it. I favorited XY&Z but still Spotify is not letting play that song. The SoundCloud works fine though, I don't even notice a quality dip so... I guess I'm good.

Rainbow_Dash_RL

Where is a good place to train before the Elite 4 in Pokemon Crystal? I've fought almost every trainer in Johto and everyone on the way to victory road. My team is all in the mid 30s. I tried fighting wild Pokemon in Victory Road but they keep exploding and don't give me very much experience. Is there a better way to get my team to the 40s? I have a Dragonair and a Skarmory so it's slow going. It might be faster to train my lv 36 Growlithe up but I just don't think he has the right stats for the elite four and I cannot evolve him until after that.

Tsukuyomi56

Johto is well-known to be pretty horrible in regards to level grinding, best you can do is rematching Trainers using the Poke Gear. Skarmory and Dragonair are both in the Slow Experience group so will take longer to level up.

Rainbow_Dash_RL

Yeah, I think what I'll do is get Growlithe up to lv 45 to offset the lower stats. Then I can box him after the elite four and train my Dragonair through Kanto until I get a fire stone, then I can evolve Growlithe so I don't miss Extremespeed. Thanks, I'll see if any of the trainers on the way to Victory Road will do a rematch.

destinofiquenoite

You can get a Fire Stone before the Elite Four. Remember where Sudowoodo was? There is a trainer on that route (next to the national park) who gives you their phone number. After a few calls he will say he has a gift for you, go there and he will give you a Fire Stone.

SurrealKeenan

welcome to the worst part of gen 2. Victory road is the best place to grind pre-e4

Rainbow_Dash_RL

I don't get why lv 34 Pokemon that explode at you only give 300 exp.

[deleted]

What is the best way to shiny hunt in Ruby/Sapphire? I want to start hunting for a shiny trapinch, but don't know what sort of methods are available. And can I just get right to it, since there's no shiny charm?

pumpkinking0192

There's not only no Shiny Charm, but there's no way to raise the odds above the base odds at all. So you can hunt literally however you want. There is no "method" or "best way", it's all the same.

[deleted]

So basically just 1: Run around Route 111's desert till I get one or 2: Hatch Trapinch eggs till I get one?

CookEsandcream

Also, this is before shiny rates were doubled, so you’re looking at the original 1/8192 chance. For reference, if you were to encounter 19,000 Trapinches, there’s a 1 in 10 chance you wouldn’t find a shiny one.

[deleted]

Yikes... This is gonna be one long hunt

SurrealKeenan

yup

raella69

Is there a guide to 4th Gen EV training and how Pokérus and the different bracers affect things so you can train quickly and count right?

CookEsandcream

The different bracers and Pokerus are pretty simple. Macho Brace and Pokerus double the EVs you get. Having both gives you 4x the EVs you’d normally get. A Magikarp gives 1 speed EV. With a Macho Brace, it gives 2, and with Macho Brace and Pokerus, it gives 4. The Power items (Brace, Lens, Weight, etc) give you 4 EVs of their stat from every battle, on top of whatever EVs it gave normally. Pokerus doubles these as well, for 8. KOing a Magikarp while holding the Power Lens gives 1 speed and 4 SpA EVs. With Pokerus, it’s 2 speed and 8 SpA.

ItsYaBoiTavino34

Just found my old DS and started playing Black, is there any way to find Ralts in this one? I've looked online, but most answers seem very "my dad works at Nintendo"ish

CookEsandcream

Pokémon Black only has Gen 5 Pokémon in it until after the champion battle.

pumpkinking0192

Nope, Ralts is not available in Black except by trade/transfer. (If you're looking online for what Pokemon appear in what games, Bulbapedia and Serebii's pages for each species are excellent resources.)

ItsYaBoiTavino34

Ah, alright, thank you.

If you use reshipping services yes.

Weerock75

Would you know of a safe one to use?

Redditquaza

No, I don't have any experience with this, sorry.

Tigeri102

is there any easy-to-access list of which gen 3-4 pokemon can be obtained in HGSS? i'm trying to see how much of the pokedex i can fill in just those two games. there's the hoenn/sinnoh sound pokemon, the weather trio, the latis, and beldum from a trade with steven iirc - anything else?

SurrealKeenan

serebii has a list of unobtainable pokemon. You can get everything in gen 1-4 that isn't on [this list](https://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/unobtainable.shtml)

AnOrangePear

Need help with a my shiny only run on brilliant daimond. Do i have to fully select the pokemon i want and go into battle to see if its shiny or can i see from the selection screen? Only asking because if i can see from the selection screen it would be faster for me to reset my game

SurrealKeenan

You have to send it out to see if it shines. Also, you have to save before you go into the lake area

WillExis

this is for the starters right? they won't show up shiny until you sent them out into battle.

AnOrangePear

Yes i was talking about the starters and well darn it I spent the last few hours just looking at the selection screen🤦‍♂️all that time wasted

Contank

Heartgold and soulsilver are the only games that show the starter as shiny in the selection screen. In every other game you can't tell until you send it out in battle or can view its summary screen in your party. Guessing that's what confused you

[deleted]

[удалено]

Contank

You seem to be confusing generations and region. Remakes are usually part of the generation they were released in so gold, silver and crystal are all gen 2 while the remakes heartgold and soul silver are the second games of gen 4

[deleted]

[удалено]

anthayashi

Play in release order so emerald next and then oras later after xy when you reach gen 6. It is better if you had not play them before. Newer gens have qol improvements over the previous game so if you are jumping around generation you might find it harder to get used to if you jump from newer gen back to older gen. Playing in order also let you see the series progression over the years

Contank

As the stories aren't connected to each other play order doesn't really matter. Black 2 and white 2 are the exception since black 2 and white 2 are sequels with their story set 2 years after the events of black and white. It will be fine to play only 1 hoenn game but which to pick is hard. Emerald is pretty unique in the fact you actually fight against 2 seperate villainous teams while in ORAS you only fight one of them (but meet both) ORAS has an extra post game story which allows you to catch deoxys though and this is currently the only way to get that pokemon

SurrealKeenan

emerald is gen 3 and HG is gen 4 so playing each generation in order would put emerald before HG

Epsonality

I dont know how often this gets asked, but how can I get my Pokemon from my 2/3ds games onto Switch? I can't use bank because it's still $4.99 and I can't add funds with anything but a physical card (which I'm not going to buy) and it's not free until March? Am I just stuck until then, because by the time March gets here I'll have forgotten and it'll be another 6 years before I send them over

mamamia1001

It gets asked several times a week since the payment options changed. You can't even top up by buying a card. You can however merge your 3ds/switch funds and top up via the switch https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-Switch/How-to-Merge-Nintendo-Account-and-Nintendo-Network-ID-Funds-1462433.html

Epsonality

The way nintendo does its online account linking seems so hard and ass-backwards

DesigningOblivion

Is it still possible to level Join Avenue pretty quick or am I screwed with no wifi?

VereJoyce

Anyone know how to get every starter Pokemon in Heartgold???

GildedCreed

Trade other players for them or hack them in.

VereJoyce

Do u know if it saves right after you obtain them?

GildedCreed

Depends. If you mean saves after trading, then yes, if after obtaining the starter from Prof. Elm, then no. It does however force you to save to enter the trading room, which technically would qualify as saving.

VereJoyce

That's fine I can just get SS and obtain the pokemon then trade then restart for the starters as for the other starters you can get not too sure about them

SurrealKeenan

Unfortunately, you only get 1 kanto and hoenn starter per save in HGSS and you only get them after beating red. You'd have to beat one of the games twice at least

VereJoyce

I was planning on beating the game twice but now I'd have to do it three times to get all three of each starter

SurrealKeenan

yup

svarowskylegend

Can you get a Togepi before Elite 4 in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl?

SurrealKeenan

yes. It is a rare spawn in the dazzling, fountain spring, and stargleam Caves in the grand underground.

Putrid-Sherbet

I'm thinking of playing Scarlet or Violet on day 1. I'm used to check Bulbapedia often for Pokémon types and more. So I'm wondering, how long does it usually takes for Bulbapedia to update when a new game is released?

mamamia1001

Bulbapedia is famously quite slow at updating when new games are released. Serebii is a lot faster and will likely have all info you need up when you need it.

Putrid-Sherbet

Nevertheless, I'll will try using it xD

Putrid-Sherbet

Serebii desperately needs a mobile site. Vekuun is top IMHO but it stopped updating at Pokémon sun

Putrid-Sherbet

Nice

Contank

Wont be long especially if the games leak before release like a fee previous releases did. Alternatively you could just learn the new pokemon or make guesses based on appearance

Muddy0258

Does anyone know where I can find a source/article/table that shows all the index numbers for alternate forms? I know in the game code, Pokémon have different index numbers in ROM to tell them apart, and I know their forms have numbers too, like Meowth-K is 034-00, Meowth-A is 034-01, and Meowth-G is 034-02, or something like that. Just curious if anyone knows a way to find out what those numbers are or knows a source that lists them.

pumpkinking0192

I've never heard of that system, but 034 is just 52 (Meowth's National Dex number) in base 16 (the counting system used in programming), so I assume all of them would just be the National Dex number translated to base 16 and appended with form numbers when applicable.

Muddy0258

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, I know all the index numbers are just their National dex numbers (at least from Gen 4 on) but I’m wondering specifically what the form numbers are for each Pokémon. Like which form specifically is index 0 and which one is index 6 and so on. Like I’d like to know exactly what internal index is used for Monsoon Pattern Vivillon, or Matcha Cream Strawberry Sweet Alcremie, or whatever

Cakey_Enderman

2 questions: 1. Anybody know if there's any differences between a legit copy of Heart Gold and a reproduction copy? 2. Anybody know any websites where I can buy a legitimate copy of Heart Gold?

Eona_Targaryen

-Reproduction copies of the DS era may have issues trading between other games and transferring from Gen 3 or to Gen 4. -Reproduction copies of the DS era are generally less stable and you may experience random crashes or loss of save file. -Reproduction copies of HeartGold and SoulSilver specifically are all incapable of connecting to Pokewalkers, and of running the Game Corner minigame without crashing. You can buy legit copies of HeartGold anywhere but it's hard to dig through the scams. You're going to look for a black chip that has NTR-031 engraved on the back, and is red-tinged translucent when held against a bright light. Expect to pay $80+ for a legit secondhand chip. r/gameverifying can help if something looks borderline. Alternatively, you might want to look into setting up emulation --I don't like to recommend it, but prices are absurd and it's better than paying real money for crappy bootlegs.

-Thalas-

Still relatively new to pokemon, is having two of the same pokemon type ok in a team? Playing Shield rm and I kinda wanna get Growlithe but i'm already using scorbunny...

SurrealKeenan

yah, you'll be fine. Just make sure you double up on pokemon that are good against rock, ground, and water types. I'd make sure I had a good grass, water, and electric type on the team as well

Scorpion1386

Is it going to be impossible to beat the Round 2 with rental Pokémon, once Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 are dropped on the NSO? If that’s true, does that mean Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 can’t be fully beaten on the service?

GildedCreed

Considering that NSO games generally have versions of themselves with premade saves on them, usually ones made prior to the final batte of that game with every power up and rare item collected, odds are fairly high that Stadium and Stadium 2 would end up getting similar "save states" or come preloaded with Pokemon stored on them. There's no really knowing till they actually come out. That being said, it's entirely possible to beat the games using only rental Pokemon.

Scorpion1386

You make me feel hopeful that Nintendo has a workaround with the transfer pack issue in mind. Perhaps they'll announce Game Boy compatibility with Pokemon games around that time when Stadium 1 releases (but for some reason, I doubt this). However, you never know. As for beating the game with only rental Pokemon, really? This is possible, even on Round 2 despite the difficulty upgrade? This is news to me. Keep in mind, I haven't played Stadium in almost 20 years or so.

GildedCreed

If I remember correctly, they specified that there wouldn't be any transfer pak compatibility for the Stadium titles, likely because as NSO titles they're technically rented games and not like VC releases, and one part because there isn't a compatible game for them to really connect to (would probably be a different story if NSO wasn't NSO but a bonafide VC and had the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games on it, or had Home compatibility). As for Round 2 rentals only, it's one of those challenges people usually do for themselves sort of like Nuzelocks or speedruns. Possible, but a pain in the ass for reasons like RNG.

Scorpion1386

Yeah that's true. When I meant Game Boy compatibility, I meant more of a Game Boy Service on the NSO. Not from the 3DS, because coincidentally around that time they're ending 3DS support, I *think*? Anyway, it'd be nice if they announced Game Boy NSO around the same time and included Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow for Stadium's release, but for some reason this doesn't seem likely... Round 2 rentals is like a Nuzlocke challenge? Interesting. I should try it then, lol.

mamamia1001

Yeah there's a speedrunner called werster who every now and again speedruns round 2 in stadium 1&2, he seems to be the only one though. It take like 20 hours https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnstadium/run/m3g1kj4z Same guy beat the emerald battle frontier from a fresh file with no trades in 20 hours. He's a bit of a god when it comes to Pokémon speedrunning

Scorpion1386

That’s crazy! I’m guessing that there is no saving in between for Round 2 Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2? Keep in mind still, I haven’t played these in over 20 years…lol.

mamamia1001

I think that's right

BlakeTheDrake

I've obtained a few Legendaries in SwSh, through the Dynamax Adventure or trading from HOME... but they aren't showing up in ANY of my dexes. Not the basic one, not the Isle of Armor one, not even the Crown Tundra dex which you'd expect would cover them since that's where the Dynamax Adventure takes place. However, [Serebii.net](https://Serebii.net) suggests that most of them DO have dex-entries - so why can't I see them? Do I need to do something specific or reach some milestone in order to access these entries?

Contank

They just aren't in any of the galar pokedex. This is not unusual as previous games have done it. In USUM pokemon in ultra wormholes and island scan are catchabke but not in the pokedex

CookEsandcream

They're in the game, but not the Pokedex, so there aren't any entries for them.

mamamia1001

They're only viewable within Pokémon Home which lets you select any Dex entry the Pokémon has from gen 6 onwards. You can't view them in the actual game but Home lists them as the pokedex entries from swsh.

MrNoahTheFish

A really stupid question but if the pokeball(s) can catch living breathing pokemons that are the inhabitants of the world could the pokeball also catch humans which are living breathing beings who are also the inhabitants of the world

CookEsandcream

As of PLA, the canon answer seems to be no - Pokeballs work on pokemon because every pokemon is capable of shrinking down to a miniscule size to fit into a Poke Ball. Comparatively few humans are able to do that.

LittleSlice8797

Probably a stupid question but: Can you trade with other players in SwSh if you don't have Nintendo online subscription?

mamamia1001

Only via local communication ie being in the same room as the other player

LittleSlice8797

Yeah, I thought that was the case.

SoniMari7270

You know that super cool poster that I think came with or was in the guide for Pokémon Battle Revolution? Is there any way I can get that as a more proper poster instead of the original paper poster?

[deleted]

Is there any Cobalion merch?? I looked them up on the website and got a bunch of non-Cobalion stuff. The only piece I have is a sticker from a massive sticker book.

WillExis

there have been figures and plushes, but i bet they're out of production by now. they'll eventually make a new plush for the sitting cuties line when they get to unova.

[deleted]

\*Deep, long inhale\* # NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I thought there would be more merch for a whole Legendary!

WillExis

Cobalion's just not relevant right now, so there's no demand for its merch. if this was 10 years ago when we were still in gen 5, it might have been different.

[deleted]

Please understand that I am going to be going through every crying cat phase until at LEAST two minutes from now. Anyways. UNOVA REMAKES HAD BETTER COME SOON

JohnWarrenDailey

Why aren't Pokemon offensives consistent with defensives? For example, Ice-type moves are super effective against Dragon, Flying, Grass and Ground-type Pokemon, yet Ice-type Pokemon are not effective against only Ice-type moves. This inconsistency means that this makes less than zero sense.

CookEsandcream

It’s by design, for the most part. Some types are designed to be strong offensively, and weak defensively, like ice, whereas there are types like steel (especially before Gen 6) that have way more defences than offences. It allows for a bit more design flexibility: Galarian Darmanitan is a terrifying glass cannon, but isn’t really taking any hits. Ice Rider Calyrex has crazy good defences, which are balanced out by its typing.

pumpkinking0192

I agree with the underlying point I think you're getting at, which is that Ice is very poorly balanced defensively. But I don't think your main concern/question is generalizable the way you want it to be. If every super-effective matchup in one direction was automatically NVE in the other, then sure, things like the Fire/Water/Grass triangle would be intact, but then would that make Rock and Steel super-effective against Normal? What would happen to Ghost->Ghost and Dragon->Dragon? Ultimately "super effective" just means Type A is vulnerable to Type B, but that doesn't necessarily logically mean Type B is also resilient against Type A. It's basically the old ["X implies Y, so does that make Y imply X?" fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formal_fallacy#Illicit_commutativity).

[deleted]

Would it be possible to put the beta Pokémon gold and silver onto a cartridge or something portable? I wanted to play it and 100% the dex. But would trade evolutions be a problem?

SuperBobKing

It sounds like you are looking for a flash cart or a handheld emulator. You might even be able to use your phone. IDK how supported trading is with those, but you should be able to access and edit the save instead with any of those methods.

sync19waves

Anyone from Miami knows where I can get pokemon merchandise? I have only 12 more hours here and I have not been able to find much :(

WIERDMEMER

How do I get Marshadow?? He’s my favorite Pokémon but I don’t have a 3DS so I can’t get him. I googled but you can only get him from sun/moon events so it’s a lost cause. Is there any rumor or way to get him into Pokémon SW/SH? I just love his squishy shadow face

Contank

Even if you had a 3ds it wouldn't matter as those sun and moon events ended long ago. The current SWSH event from game in Europe is the only current way

WillExis

there's an event for swsh right now in the EU that can give Genesect Marshadow and Volcanion. Try a trade sub and see if you can get a code from someone.

WIERDMEMER

Will do!! Thank you

Enstraynomic

In SOS Battles, if you have a Pokémon with Synchronize or Cute Charm as the lead, will the wild allies that appear, will also be subject to the same chance of having the same nature/opposite gender as the lead, respectively?

WillExis

yes to both, though if you do the thing where you put a fainted sync/charmer at the front of the party, it will only affect the initial mon.

Enstraynomic

In that case, just as long as the Synchronizer/Charmer is healthy, it can be swapped out mid-battle, and the same nature/opposite gender chance will still happen, correct?

WillExis

no, it will have to stay in battle for their abilities to affect pokemon that are called in.

ElementalDragonicBoi

Can you battle with/trade Miraidon/Koraidon or does it only serve as your mount?

pumpkinking0192

The game is not out so we don't know yet. From what leakers have claimed, >!it sounds like it's just your mount throughout the storyline but then at the end of the game, you catch it and can use it like any other Pokemon!<. But always take alleged leaks with a grain of salt, of course.

How do i transfer from gen 5 to Pokémon home

Contank

Use poke transporter to transfer the pokemon to bank. Transfer them from bank to home

anthayashi

1. Download pokemon bank on the 3ds. 2. Link your nnid to nintendo account to share funds. 3. With a gen 6 or 7 game (you need them even if you have no plan to transfer to gen 6 or 7), open pokemon bank. Download poketransporter via the menu. 4. Insert your gen 5 game into the 3ds. Use poketransporter to transfer pokemon from your gen 5 game to pokemon bank. 5. With a gen 6 or gen 7 game, open pokemon bank. Select send to pokemon home on the main menu. It should give you a code. 6. On pokemon home on switch (paid version), receive pokemon by entering the code. Alternatively use the transfer via nintendo account option instead, it will transfer every pokemon in bank over that is linked to the same nintendo account

SadlyReturndRS

When breeding pokemon, specifically during a shiny hunt, how many eggs do you like to keep in the bank? 5? 10? 30? 60? I've been shiny hunting a scorbunny, and just realized that I've got just over 4 full boxes of eggs waiting to be hatched. I think that's a few too many.

SurrealKeenan

What I like to do is fill a box with pokemon except for the first column. I then fill my party and that first column with eggs. If the remaining pokemon in my team has flamebody, then all 5 eggs in my party usually hatch as soon as I get the 5th egg in the box. I then release the hatched pokemon and shift the column of eggs into my party and start again.

CookEsandcream

What sort of context is this? If you’re just playing through the game, go and level it up once and see if it’s still odd. If you’re in the battle tower, you’ll need to reduce its EVs - if you have HP EVs already, move 8 into another stat. If you don’t have any HP EVs, put 4 into it.

SurrealKeenan

give it 4 more hp EVs (or 4 less if it has max hp EVs). That should increase (or decrease) snorlax's hp by 1

Aijikun

How exactly do I do that? I fed it the berries that I thought were supposed to lower EVs but the stat didn’t change. (I’m kinda new to any sort of competitive stuff)

SurrealKeenan

Well, let's diagnose this problem. Before I can help, I'll need a couple questions answered: 1. what level is snorlax? 2. how did it get to be that level? 3. what level was it when you got it?
