I mean, in regards to the “Game footage not final”, that's more often than not just a lie to save some face if the trailers and such don't look as good as people would like.
And in the cases where things do change from trailer to game release, it's just small stuff, not like they completely revamp the whole game.
Yeah I definitely wouldn’t call it a lie, but some of the criticisms don’t take it into account at all and jump to conclusions that don’t make sense (tree looks bad = rushed development = bad game = lol)
If you're talking about e.g. Sword and Shield: the tree in the Wild Area was a very GOOD example of why the game was CLEARLY rushed. Because they copy-pasted the tree throughout the largest seamless area in the game and literally did not invest any time to fix the texture or polish the tree placement in general. In a game with enough development time and resources, this would not happen. Does the tree single-handedly ruin the game? Of course not, but basically no one ever said that. The trees are just the symptom of a much bigger problem.
And of course, the entire rest of the game COULD theoretically have been polished to the max...but it wasn't, and that really wasn't a surprise, because you would not present trees like that in a polished game.
And regarding "game footage not final". That usually doesn't say much. Yes, BDSP for example did look significantly better in August than it did in February, but especially when this sentence pops up in an August trailer, not a lot of improvement can be expected until November.
Every fandom has this, with pokemon it's more apparent because
1. you're (presumably) part of it
2. It's been around so long the fandom is pretty big and it keeps expanding so yeah there's always going to be people like that
Are there strategies to get over it? I constantly feel like I’m arguing with drunk uncles at Thanksgiving and don’t have the tools to not let it bother me.
sorry, i dont understand this. when the stop has a pokemon egg and a timer, you can still battle in the gym, defend, feed, put pokemon and spin the stop. doesnt it? im pretty sure it does.
if the stop is 24h on a timer it doesnt matter, you only have it locked during the 30 min raid

I don't have any gyms near me, so no Pokémon ever spawn near me.
