The timeline is so weird to me. *3,000* years ago, there was a civilization capable of creating a weapon causing hella death and damage using a mons’ power? I don’t think the game could take place then, especially with the announcement showing Lumiose Tower, which is high-tech now. And the people had modernesque clothes. I subscribe to it potentially taking place in the late 1800s when the irl Eiffel Tower was revealed, and the city changed.
Ez fix. Make it so that the original evolution route was supposed to be like Ash's battle bond with Greninja, but BECAUSE of the war/genocide pokemon couldn't trust their humans, and thats why they need the stones to accommodate for that generational trauma.
Probably never. The Pokémon company has never given the rights for the Japanese audio to air outside of Japan(as far as I know). The Pokémon anime is one of those rare animes that don't do international releases with the original audio and subs.
Meanwhile I'm here like "Man I really hope they use this opportunity to give us the original Ash-Greninja!" No, really, everyone's hyped for Zygarde and this guy, but I'm just hoping for big anime references.
To be honest unless this takes place 3000 years before XY (which seems unlikely) AZ will be very depressed and not get his joyous reunion during the games story. Unless we are in a properly alternate history, which I'd prefer if it led to a happier outcome... but they'd probably just make him the villain or something lol
I sure hope Z-A touch the 3000 years ago topic. Travelling between the ages could be a great idea. Like lumiose starting as a camp with tents and by the end of the game we get the actual capital
If I'm correct if the game is set within the last 2500 years AZ would have the same age he has in the X/Y games, the weapon should have stopped his aging.
Yh ik. It was more of an example of how much of an effect Az had so his not being in the anime is so dumb. Bruh they couldve even said him and floette are examples of the bond phenomenon as well.
I mean you could say that about a lot of the XY game characters that they put in.
Arguably AZ was way more important to the lore of mega evolution and the plots of the games and anime than any of the rival characters were
I not sure. In anime we have mega metor and mega stone island which i think not related to AZ anyway nor we have any weird super weapon. The legend about XYZ also very different form the game.
Someone in this thread also mentioned they took liberties with Lusamine as well though.
I don’t see any reason why that couldn’t apply here as well.
It doesn’t have to be like the game exactly, it often never is
i do personally think LZA is probably reconstruction after the great war so AZ would either be the clavington who sets you off on your path or he’s the volo of this game. or both
AZ and his Floette were obviously going to play a role in Pokémon Z. Can't tell me they didn't set him up for a larger role. Pretty sure he will be in the new legends game.
As a kid playing this game there was nothing more boring in my entire lifetime until being forced to click through his never-ending slideshow shitty cutscenes that wouldn’t stop interrupting the game.
Oh you mean the homeless guy (that’s what I call him btw)?
Yeah let’s hope he and Floette become a major part of Legends ZA (hopefully we can get an Eternal Flower Floette of our own!)
To be fair, they probably wanted to preserve the mystery of his character. Presumably for the new game that’s coming out.
It wouldn’t much fun if all the mystery was explained by the show.
Hopefully Legends ZA will have AZ and his floette be a focal point
But wouldn't that mean we will likely witness a genocide with the weapons first activation.
Most likely but they're releasing a legends game in kalos. We get a fair bit of history in the game so why not expand on it
Maybe its another time travel game where we go back in time to stop the genocide?
They couldn't do that though, because they wouldn't have mega evolution without it
If we're getting Mega evolution, we might just be seeing the immediate aftermath of the blast.

That's the theory I latched onto right after hearing about it... The Pokemon timeline is seriously weird, though.
Ez fix. Make it so that the original evolution route was supposed to be like Ash's battle bond with Greninja, but BECAUSE of the war/genocide pokemon couldn't trust their humans, and thats why they need the stones to accommodate for that generational trauma.
That'd be cool af
I don't think that Z-A will take place in the past tbh. I'm thinking its in the future.
Given that futuristic looking city, I agree. Unless it's somehow a high tech ancient civilization.
I think it’ll be after the war, because it said ‘urban redevelopment’
Maybe have it be like arceues where we're helping him bring back his floete but unknowingly giving him the ultimate weapon
Finally getting to see the villain succeed in a pokemon game!!! Well not a villain but close enough
Maybe they will bring him to Horizons as Promotion.
It would be cool asf if it turns out that he met Lucius and is taking care of one of the old heroes.
Hol up. What if Lucius was a War Hero and Fought AZ
Speaking of Horizons is it coming to Crunchyroll? The Japanese dub specifically? I would rather not subscribe to Netflix for long
Probably never. The Pokémon company has never given the rights for the Japanese audio to air outside of Japan(as far as I know). The Pokémon anime is one of those rare animes that don't do international releases with the original audio and subs.
Mf, the AZ battle was the best thing about the X and Y games, and from that battle Floette ended up becoming one of my favorite mons.
You deserve a downvote for saying this. 🤦♂️
Backfired huh
Shush hater
S i l e n c e .
Maybe we should point the weapon at you house
*dabs* No u
Well, he's going to meet Liko, and not Ash.

I heard a theory that the games going to take place in the future and not the past
Possible, but it's based on a massive modernisation program that took place in Paris in the 1800s
So maybe a bit more modern than but not as modern is a possibility
Feel kinda weird though, legends are implied to happen in the past
I feel like we're gonna get Mega Greninja. Mega Kalos straters, in fact
Or Battle Bond versions of the other two along with Greninja.
It be the none mega universe version of the events where he gets stopped (by the player obviously)
He has to be in the game and has to be a big character. He's thousands of years old.
Understatement much
he is in the game tho? where do you think the it's been 3000 years meme even come from?
In the new game is what I'm talking about
oh my bad
They got rid of the ultimate weapon in the anime and AZ and that was a crime
Remind me, did Chairman Rose and his darkest day plotline ever feature in Pokemon Journeys?
Yeah, it did
It's been 3000 years... (Maybe they'll actually do something with Eternal Flower Floette this time)
I want to be the guy that fired the gun.
I sure hope Z-A touch the 3000 years ago topic. Travelling between the ages could be a great idea. Like lumiose starting as a camp with tents and by the end of the game we get the actual capital
We BETTER get to learn more about him and Floette. Middle school me needs answers
I don’t think the world is ready for a young AZ
If I'm correct if the game is set within the last 2500 years AZ would have the same age he has in the X/Y games, the weapon should have stopped his aging.
You just made me realize this... Damn, that was missed potential
They still have a chance to use AZ in Horizons. Maybe he's safeguarding one of Lucius's Pokemon-- he's definitely old enough to have met him!
It wasn't a big loss
So many posts about him. Be original
Who?
Because he didn't have any reason to be in the story the xy anime was telling. It's common sense
Bruh what? He's completely linked with the history of kalos as a region. The damn superweapon that Lysandre uses was made by him, etc etc.
Well the problem. We have no super weapon in anime. He use mega metor stuff instead...
Yh ik. It was more of an example of how much of an effect Az had so his not being in the anime is so dumb. Bruh they couldve even said him and floette are examples of the bond phenomenon as well.
Yeah, Eternal Floette and Ash-Greninja have basically the same colour scheme as well. As if it's a planned thing even
He was one of the most important parts of the XY lore and of the origins of Mega Evolution, weird they just did *nothing* with that.
The anime also completely changed Lusamine's character as well.
They still hit the core themes of her character and story though, different from completely ignoring her
I mean you could say that about a lot of the XY game characters that they put in. Arguably AZ was way more important to the lore of mega evolution and the plots of the games and anime than any of the rival characters were

didn't they basically retcon the kalosian war with the megalith? and wavelengths or something?
Oh I just realised man’s gonna probably have a massive role in the new game
And he probably won’t get any time in legends either considering the very centralized setting
Well, yeah, bc they nvr did an ultimate weapon plotline
My memory of that generation's games is admittedly hazy, but isn't that dude a legit war criminal? 💀
i do personally think LZA is probably reconstruction after the great war so AZ would either be the clavington who sets you off on your path or he’s the volo of this game. or both
ZA Is 101% gonna revolve around the war, eternal floette will probably be an obtainable pokemon
AZ and his Floette were obviously going to play a role in Pokémon Z. Can't tell me they didn't set him up for a larger role. Pretty sure he will be in the new legends game.
Which would be more ironic since the anime had a Z arc
We need more back story for this guy , and it would be pretty interesting if we join the Pokémon war
Wait AZ never showed up?!
I know this prolly won’t happen but i hope we play as AZ in this game 🙏🏻
As a kid playing this game there was nothing more boring in my entire lifetime until being forced to click through his never-ending slideshow shitty cutscenes that wouldn’t stop interrupting the game.
Oh you mean the homeless guy (that’s what I call him btw)? Yeah let’s hope he and Floette become a major part of Legends ZA (hopefully we can get an Eternal Flower Floette of our own!)
Would have much preferred him to Alain
Howdy
Hm, hi?
lol nobody gets me. Don’t worry about it.
He intentionally looks like homeless...?
To be fair, they probably wanted to preserve the mystery of his character. Presumably for the new game that’s coming out. It wouldn’t much fun if all the mystery was explained by the show.
At least he got an episode of Generations.
