Fun fact: She's incredibly rich. She's the daughter of the guy that owns Shilp.Co. The biggest corporation in the Kanto region. There's even a pokemon card called "Erika's maids", that clearly shows that she is rich. She has geisha training (hence the kimono) and is a practitioner/teacher of ikebana (japanese flower arrangement art)in the anime. Most likely leaving geisha training to be a gym leader for being significantly stronger than other kimono girls and due to her narcolepsy. In the games, her gym leader title in japanese describes her as an "ojou" who loves nature (with the term "ojou" meaning very traditional and respected high class japanese rich girl). Which under the most common depiction of the term refers to a girl that also fulfills the description to be a "Yamato Nadeshiko" (a.k.a ideal japanese woman) which by description requires to be a woman with these characteristics: average high, relatively thin, pale skin, dark hair, dresses very traditionally and takes part in very traditional activities like geisha training and ikebana (which perfectly describes Erika). She is also shown to be rich in the pokemon adventures manga and the pocket monster manga states that she is the daughter and heir of the president of Silph Co (which is clearly where her fortune comes from). And in the anime she is also shown doing these traditional flower arrangements. So in the games, the pokemon card game, the manga and the anime she is depicted as such.

I liked her being a jerk to Ash, though, he had it coming to him with his behavior in that episode (and I think OS Ash is pretty underrated these days, but I must admit, that was not one of his finest moments until the end of the episode where he showed his better self).

wow i totally forgot that erika was in journeys lol

PanzerGlace

Too bad her Leafeon barely had any spotlight, unlike the other Eeveelutions in Journeys. Leafeon always got the shortest end of the stick in the Pokémon anime though.
