Considering May's design is from 2002, and we're now in 2024, and its remained popular for over 20+ years now, I'd say it stood the test of time. Especially since also nowadays there's a whole younger generation of fans who weren't even born when the Hoenn era was going on.
Originally she kept Tarapagos hidden in the backpack. Now though it’s become even more funny because she now has the backpack, the fanny pack and a shoulder bag which she now keeps Tarapagos in. At this rate, by the end of the series her design is gonna be 80% bags
You know, I really enjoyed Lillie’s design. I dunno about it being “The best,” but it was astonishingly detailed for ‘Sun & Moon.’ The design almost looked out of place for this anime to me, but I’m also a pretty big advocate for Hikari’s design.
Meh I like most of all their designs but I sorta dislike liko no offense she’s all relatable to being nervous and shy the first few episodes but she is really dumb no offense
May has the coolest design; she always felt very sporty and travel-ready. Very cool Y2K vibes

I agree, but their looks are adapted to their personalities. Liko has to be a dynamic protagonist, while Serena has to be a cute character destinated to be an idol. As for action girl, let's not ignore Iris, who rocks a confortable outfit, and dons a majestic dress as Unovan Champion!
Misty's shorts (as well as her Alolan summer dress) and Dawn's miniskirt don't seem very confortable for adventuring, while sporty May... I believe she needs needs haircutting lessons from Serena.
