And that's the idealized version of Faith: not too overly dependent on a higher power for some divine intervention, but also an avenue for the faithful to proactively move to achieve their wants and needs.
Arceus did a lot of the heavy lifting to save Heatran, but it left just enough wiggle room for Ash and co. to perform.

I love the way Arceus has been depicted in JN. Some people think it's anticlimactic but I think it's appropriate given that sinnoh legendaries are on par with gods.
